I had that best friend, too. We didn't move away, and we didn't buy matching necklaces, but we were twins (they called us The Bobsy Twins) and we drifted apart after elementary school. I love that you took the time to delve into such a tiny character detail - and made it not only totally plausible but *real*. I'd love to know if the actress has a similar story built up for herself!

Author's Response:

I didn't have a friend like that my entire life (my story with friend was like started in 9th grade... and is crazy strange and warped)...

I really really enjoyed reading that, and I am now interested in doing other small little details. It is such a fun backstory to create.

Thanks so much!

One of the many things that I love about the office is the little details that make up the characters.  These details suggest that there is a story behind them; a story that goes beyond what is told in front of a camera.  We may never know these stories, but he have little artifacts that belong to them.  Artifacts like Pam's unicorn necklace that we can almost always see her wear.  It's so true to life, because these character's lives to go beyond their work and beyond what is told infront of a documentary crew.  I love how these artifacts allow our minds to wander and to wonder and I love how you've decided to tap into that.

Have you ever considered writing about other little details?  Like Andy's blue-braided bracelet?  Are Jim's messanger bag?  Or maybe something about something on someone's desk.  I think you did very well with this one and I would be interested to see what you come up with for other back stories.

Author's Response:

Aww, this review means so much to me.

I wasn't going to consider writing about other little aspects, but I am thinking of now, it is a really intersting idea, and I may even submit it as a challenge or something. Or I may hoard it all to myself :).

Thanks so much for the review, seriously, thanks.

I love how you took such a minor element and created a whole story around it.  It has me thinking of other objects that might have a back story to them.  Enjoyed!!

Author's Response: Thanks so much, yeah, once I noticed that little detail, I just wanted to write the story. It is really fun creating these little backstories, I would encourage it.
