I love the parallel here with Scully's "I can't" and really laying bare what Pam must have felt that night. If Jim hadn't kissed her, if he had given her some time to really think, he might have gotten what he wanted but instead he ran away. I don't blame him for this, because Pam should have been braver sooner, but it's something I don't think a lot of people consider when they come down on Pam for rejecting him.
Anyway, Scully's plea to "not do this now" and regroup made me think of all this, I feel like that was your intention and it came across well.

I love this story! You write J&P very well, but I am very struck by your M&S. The season 6 vibe is spot on. And your writing is beautiful - The passages above are lyrical. I look forward to each installment and enjoy it more with each chapter. (Your style seems familiar; I'm guessing I might know you from another incarnation in XF fandom? In another incarnation, I'm a scullyfic/emuse member.) Anyway, the dinner party promise is tantalizing and I look forward to angst, insight and amusement!

Oooh, I'm very excited by the direction this is going. I love this story so much I recommended it to a couple of TWoP friends that don't even watch The Office but are huge X-Files fans. They are now so hooked they think they might start watching! So yay for Stablergirl!

Is saying I love you coming on too strong? Lol. I don't care if this was a filler chapter I still loved it. Though I am very excited for what comes next. Mulder and Scully in this chapter was just...guh...perfect. This: "...soft...pleading...full of unshed tears that shocked him and he was reminded momentarily of hallways and bees and telling her she'd saved him..." So wonderful! It always seemed like Scully was never ready, like she was always keeping Mulder at a arms length and I love how you've shown that. Oh and Scully totally was a drill sergeant in another life...haha. So pleased with the credit you're bringing to The X-Files and The Office :)

Yay for another transition chapter! It means that there's more good stuff to come without an ending too close in sight ;)
I LOVE the idea of Mulder and Scully having a dinner party with Pam. I am cracking up (in a good way)!
Great work with Scully in the car. I really like her needing to do it in her own time, but still letting him know that it's going to be good.
Can't wait to read what's next.

So he just sat there and breathed in the air she was breathing out the way he’d done for years, and he convinced himself that breathing the same air as her was almost touching her, the way he’d convinced himself thousands of times before.
OK, that is a gorgeous, gorgeous line. For a "transition" chapter, a lot goes on here emotionally. I'm so glad to see a new chapter!

omg I kind of hate you for leaving us hanging like this! haha...not really; this story rocks and I was so excited to see this new chapter was up :) I can just imagine the delighted glint of satisfaction in Dwight's eyes when he got to cuff Trout.

Oh, i am so glad everyone's out of the shelter and safe! Just wanted to let you know that it was another wonderful chapter, that you're writing continues to be impeccable, and that I can't wait see Jim realise that Pam is ok. This is one of my favorite stories, please update as soon as you can!

Yeah trust me, Jim finding out about Pam is riiiiight around the corner. I'm so glad you're still sticking with me on this because I know it's slow going and that sucks. Hopefully this chapter means I've worked through my writers block and will zip along to the rest. Keep your fingers crossed ;-)
