Loved the shopping scene - one of my favorite moments on the show too. I was always struck by how such an ordinary experience became something almost tantalizing for Pam - like an unexpectedly intimate glimpse of Jim, didn't matter that the subject was only fabric softener. You really captured that feeling here - love how she pretends they'd normally do domestic stuff together. Sigh.

I also admire your ability to write at this point - the impending premiere seems to have me blocked (for some reason, my only current JAM ideas are very naughty snippets, that do not a story make.)

Author's Response:

Somehow I don't think Roy joins her when she goes for groceries.

It's tough - let me tell you.  I'm going to have to finish this one tonight because Thursday is looming ominously and it's ruining my concentration.  I'm viewing this as my last shot to guess what the writers have in store.

And I don't know - call me crazy - but I think a fic full of naughty JAM snippets would be very[/jim] well received.

Such an amazing chapter. I like how you mentioned the look on Pam's face when he told her about his crush- I had never noticed her disappointment until the commentary! Gah! And the ice skating at the end- I had always suspected that Pam was faking it :). You just KNOW these two could be so happy together if Pam would just let herself. Can't wait to read the next chapter, I'm going to need something to get me through to Thursday!

Author's Response:

pennylane - me neither!!  I love when Jenna and John do commentaries because they know EXACTLY what we want to hear.  I just kept thinking of Jim saying "Think you can let go now?" and her saying "No." and taking that to mean so much more.

I'll see what I can do to tide you over. ;)

This is killing me, in the very best way. You're balancing the cute, fun side of their relationship with the angst. C'mon Pam, wake up!

Author's Response: I think she might finally get with the program in the next chapter.  Don't quote me though. ;)

Oh my gosh, the thought that Pam's baiting him, throwing down a gauntlet he can see, but can't interpret as such, is heartbreaking.

But the shopping trip is full of those yummy moments that make a Jamshipper go whee!

Really looking forward to your update...

Author's Response:

She's outwardly oblivious - but I believe she must have an inkling of what she's doing.  Without it - I can't see her ever moving on.

She protests during Jim's confession because he's called her bluff. (the puns...they just don't stop. LOL!)

I'll save the rest for the next chapter. :)

Catching up on my reading.  These stories are great--as always!  I love what you did with their "first date".  And to have the "extended versions" of their rooftop dinner and trip to Rite Aid was a treat!  You write their voices so true to the characters--Love it!

Author's Response: Thanks Boof!!!  Like everyone else - just trying to survive until Thursday.  ;)

Awww, this was so nice.  I love the whole bit about the fabric softener and the curl tamer.  So lovely.

Author's Response:

Thanks Gen!  I was thinking that Pam seems too determined to ignore all the signs.  I needed her to pay closer attention.

and LOL!  I have the straightest hair ever so "Curl Tamer" was the most creative thing I could come up with.

We needed to read something like this. Not *too* angsty, just two maybe-more-than-friends being together.

"He knows there aren’t many left." - so sad!

Author's Response:

Poor poor Jim.  He breaks my heart a thousand times over.

This is pretty much the end of the angst - blue skies ahead. ;)

So sweet!  That's one of my favorite scenes of the two of them.

Author's Response:

Mine too.  I can just see them going grocery shopping together when they finally get together.

Sigh.

I liked this chapter -- it was really sweet, and captured the essence of Jim and Pam.  Hehe -- and Michael's Birthday!  Yea!!

BTW: if no one mentioned this already, it's actually "Rite-Aid," the store.  I never noticed they didn't bring their jackets with them -- interesting detail!

Author's Response:

Ahhh yes.  Rite-Aid indeed.  I noticed a ton of other typos too when I went back so thank you.  I always appreciate getting a heads up on that stuff.

I noticed it the other day - and specifically b/c the skin I have set here at MTT is the one w/the Michael's b-day pic.  Pam's in her puffy coat on the ice but they both shop without outerwear.  It bugged so I added the explanation in.    Glad you liked it and thanks again!
