Liked it. Very much. Still being surprised by someone after being with them for so long bodes well for a lasting relationship- esp when Jim feels safe enough to admit when he wants.

That was really nice :) I'm so torn (as I'm sure many people are...) I so want Jim (and Pam) to follow their dreams, you know, become Philly Jim and Graphic Designer FNB... but at the same time, nooo don't leave! Maybe we could have a spinoff... Love and Laughter in the Halpert House? I'm thinking 15 minutes of cute banter and 15 minutes of making out.

Ahem. So yeah. Great fic!

Author's Response: Hee! I could probably "tolerate" 30 minutes of making out ;-) But I'm with you . . . it's going to be an interesting season 5 to see how they balance what's going on in Jim and Pam's personal lives with their professional lives at DM (or elsewhere???). Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. Glad you liked it.

Oh, I just adore this! I've just seen the episode a couple of hours ago for the first time and this fits the tone so naturally! Wonderful work!

Author's Response: Thanks, Jenn! Glad you liked it. Yep, that episode just made me sad for Jim -- especially that look on Jim's face after Pam's "Because you're so important" line. Just broke my heart. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Wow. This story is made of pure awesomeness. It actually makes me *want* Jim to leave. But only if he still on the show, course. ;o)

Author's Response: Yeah, I kind of feel the same way MoraDae -- I hate to see Jim struggling at DM. But I never want him to leave the show. Ever. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing! Truly appreciated.

There are just so many lovely things about this piece that I don't know where to start! Honestly, whenever I read something of yours, I'm amazed at how well you "get" Jim and Pam; their characters, their dialog, their interactions with one another and their thoughts. You've managed to really capture the essence of Jim (especially this season) and his identity crisis (for lack of a better term). You did a good job of bringing a lot of issues to the surface: lack of motivation, fear of becoming Michael, lack of a "dream," but ultimately the eternal shipper in me loves that ultimately Jim got Pam out of DM and doesn't see it really worth anymore of his time.
I'll stop babbling now...but I really loved this! Can't wait for your next piece!

Author's Response: Honey, thanks so much. I'm glad the hours and hours I've spent watching and rewatching The Office, reading the dialogue, analyzing screencaps has paid off in some small way. I love these characters and I'm so curious about them. Jim in particular, because they haven't given us much of his backstory. It's fun to imagine why he is the way he is . . . Anyway, glad you liked this. Thanks for reading and reviewing. You always are so good about that ;-)

Oh my God.
All I can give that story is a big fat "Awww."
The language you used was magnificent and it was all just...
AWWWWW!

Author's Response: "Awww" is truly the best compliment for the kind of stuff I like to write -- stuff that tugs at your heart a little bit. Love it. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, JamFan4.

Wow.....that was so great. Seriously...everything you write is awesome! You seemed to portray what I think Jim is feeling so perfectly!! Totally awesome!!

Author's Response: Thanks so much skeber! Glad I've captured Jim in some way. (I mean, if I can't literally capture him and make him my love slave, then getting his thoughts/feelings on paper is . . . well, a very distant second.) Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. You always absolutely nail the characters (and twss) and this kinda made my tummy hurt with how much Jim's been through this season. They really havent made his career go smooth at all, have they?

Great work as always :)

Author's Response: Totally agree waltisafox. Jim's been making my tummy hurt, too, this season. And I wouldn't have predicted that given all the Jam happiness we've had. But he's sure been struggling lately (career-wise). Hopefully happier times are ahead. Glad you liked this, and thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

I really loved this! I wish that you would continue it, you have painted Jim so realistically, and I want to know where he and Pam go from here.

Author's Response: Thanks so much, Jamgela! This one is a oneshot, but I've never tried an AU kind of thing . . . maybe I'll do a continuation some day of their life after they leave DM. We'll see. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

Great to see you back, wendolf! This was really great. And I can totally relate. It's so hard to know when a dream is something you should pursue or just something you should fantasize about. I think Jim feels the same way. Only thing I would say is, do you think Jim still thinks of Karen so often? I mean did she really mean that much to him that he'd still be comparing her to Pam? I get what you were trying to do but part of me thinks that Jim rarely thinks of Karen at all anymore. But, that aside, I really enjoyed reading this and thought it was spot on.

Author's Response: Thanks SGS! Yeah, I think we all can relate to these types of feelings re: dreams ... As far as Karen goes, I don't think Jim thinks of her in any nostalgic kind of way. He probably doesn't think about her much at all. But in this fic, since he's thinking about his aspirations or whatever, he'd maybe ponder the differences between how Karen was and how Pam is, especially regarding his future. Karen seemed to want him to be serious and driven, a NYC kind of guy, and Pam seems happy with a simpler, Scranton version of Jim. That's all. But you're right -- it's not like I think he thinks about her in any important way. Thanks for reading and reviewing! I truly appreciate it.

Ok so this is my first time ever commenting on a story here, even though I stalk this website like an addict. This story was so lovely, just a little warming reminder of why Jim and Pam are so adorable. Fantastic idea of having the one thing Jim got out of Dunder Mifflin be Pam. So true. Well Done! You may have inspired me to post my own fic one day!

Author's Response: Wow! Thanks, Jessibaby! Can't believe my story inspired you to comment for the first time. That's nice! Anyway, I'm so glad you liked it. You should definitely post fic -- I've only been doing it for two and a half months, but it's a lot of fun and really gets the creative juices flowing. Thanks again for reading and reviewing!

Such a sweet and tender story. What a great interpretation of how Jim and Pam communicate after hours.

Best part: It was such an honest moment for both of them. And so true.

“Then when I did actually leave, it was because of you, too.”

Pam swallowed and looked down. He knew she felt guilty about that still, about her rejection that night in the parking lot that led him to Stamford.

“And when I came back again . . . all you.”

Author's Response: Thanks Alamos! Glad you liked it. It wasn't exactly fun to write . . . but it was necessary for me, especially after seeing Jim's expression in Did I Stutter, after Ryan gives him his formal warning. There is just something going on inside of Jim and I can't wait to see what happens with his character. Anyway, thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

Wendolf!  So happy to see a new story from you.  As with all your stories, I really enjoyed this.  It was an interesting look into Jim's head--his insecurities despite his happiness.  I felt like a fly on the wall listening in on their conversations.  Great job.

Author's Response: Aw, thanks Nan. It was a different one, but one I really wanted to write. Glad you liked it! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Excellent! One of the things I'm most excited for on the show these days is seeing how Jim's storyline will play out, how he'll grow and really "find himself"--and how they'll both grow together, too, since Pam clearly has so much potential in her as well. This was a great look into Jim's thoughts--I especially liked how, in the kitchen scene, it all just kind of came to a head in his mind. He strikes me as the type of person who just goes with the flow, but eventually suffers when all his aggravations pile up.

Anyway, yay! Good job :)

Author's Response: Me, too, okayibelieveyou -- I'm really interested to see what they do with Jim's storyline. To me, it's not so much what he actually does, but how he feels about what he does that matters. Anyway, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

Awesome Wendolf.  I think you hit the nail on Jim's head, as it were.

This was really well written and lovely. I think you nailed Jim's thoughts over the last few episodes and during his whole character arc. The conflicting thoughts between hating/liking his job, contemplating his capabilities, his relationship with Pam, everything was so well written. Well Done!

Author's Response: Thanks so much second drink! I'm glad it rang true. I've felt for Jim so much this year (well, always, if I'm honest). He's finally got the girl, but there is something going on beneath the surface... a mini quarter-life crisis, perhaps. Those angsty looks we saw in seasons past (re: Pam) are now there for other reasons. Anyway, just something I've been thinking about more than is probably healthy. He is a fictional character, after all... Anyway, glad you liked it, and thanks so much for reading and taking the time to review!

Lovely, as usual. Jim's career crisis is making for some truly great fic, all around, but I really loved the subtle melancholy tinged with hope that this fic had. Truly terrific.

Author's Response: Thanks There There. Yeah, there's something melancholy in Jim this season, despite his happiness with Pam. It's been showing up quite a bit and I'm so anxious to see where they go with it on the show. For now, all I can do is speculate and write fic ;-) Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!

way to take a risk of your own wendolf, and break out of your usual style.

A few favorite parts: pantsuit-wearing girlfriend -- that always makes me smirk.

Jim knew that Pam loved all the things about him that Karen had wanted so badly to upgrade.

PS -- at Halloween, Pam suggested the job in Maryland, not Maine.  [/minor nitpick]

And I love the whole 'saboteur' metaphor.  Nicely done, wendolf

Author's Response: Thanks, lisahoo. Yeah, it's a bit different but it just seemed to be hounding me. Thanks, too, for the Maryland/Main correction -- I think I knew that but just had a brain fart. Ah well. I've fixed it in the story.rnrnYou're a great reader and reviewer. Thanks so much, as always...

Wow at first I was like meeehh no smut? But this was great. I love Jim's character development on the show and I love how its been manifested in the fanfic too (bc the show isn't daily...)

Only thing I could add was that I'm pretty sure the Halloween episode job is in Maryland, not Maine. I'm like 99% sure. 97.5%....

Author's Response: Thanks so much, Tiny Dundie. Yeah, I like the steamy stuff, too, but this one just was more mellow. Thanks for the Maryland/Maine correction -- I've fixed that! I've got Maine on the brain for some reason and that just slipped out. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, as always!
