Yes! That was beautiful. It's really interesting to see how these two fight. Not really fight, exactly, but just fail to communicate on an epic scale. I do think they really need to forgive each other before they can move on. This was very realistic, and I like all the details you put in, like the shop and the basket and the way that Jim wants to take care of her and buy things for her. And Pam's slight discomfort with that as well. Really nice job.

Author's Response: Hi Blanca! Glad to see someone had a few free minutes on the holiday weekend :) I agree that they had a lot to own up to and forgive each other for, and I imagine there were a few conversations along these lines (um...if they were real people that is). Anyway, thanks for the support! I love your reviews. Incidentally, Indigo is a real shop in Philadelphia. indigoarts.com. Maybe I should add that to the end notes...

This is an amazing fic! Your writing is just beautiful and as a Scranton boy I appreciate your research and inclusion of actual local places.

Author's Response: Thanks kev77! It's all from Google maps...hope I did it justice. I find myself very curious exactly what that little turnaround on 307 looks like. Thanks for reading and leaving your thoughts :)

Oh I just love your Jim and Pam here.  So sweet and discovering new things about each other. I loved the way you described her on again, off again courage -- and used their car escapades as an example. Great stuff. Bring on more!

Author's Response: I had so much fun with this chapter. I'm glad you liked it. Got the sixth chapter up today, one more in the bag, hope you enjoy it! :)

Wow...I do so love this story. Your Pam voice here in particular is just stellar.  I'm so glad we're nearly to the point of them being together!  You'll continue on then, right? :-)

Author's Response: Thanks LoveFool! I was really trying to understand Pam's head during this whole ghastly period so I'm glad you think I did it justice. Of course I'm continuing... there will be seven altogether. Thanks for reading! I appreciate that you always take time to review. :)

Aw. Yay for talking! This was so romanic and sweet. They've come so far from the beginning of this story. I really like the journey you're taking them (and us) on. I'm kind of sad that there's only two more parts to this.

Author's Response: Thanks Blanca. Glad you're enjoying the ride! And yes, yay for talking! So far it's all been either fun or silence...but I think an argument is brewing.

Very sweet. I like her sense of the surreal, that they are finally together and it isn't weird at all. They are so good for each other, these two.

Author's Response: I agree, they bring out the best in each other (when they're communicating). Thanks lis! I'm glad you liked it.

Callisto, I've been meaning to come over here and review and just haven't been very good about it lately. But I truly love this story. Really nice idea, beautiful writing. Just great. Hopefully I can give you more specifics as I read future chapters, but I just wanted you to know that I like it a lot!

Author's Response: Hey wendolf, nice to see you! I know you've been pretty busy with your own stuff lately, so no worries. But I'm glad you like it. Specifics are always welcome, as you know! I love your writing and would definitely appreciate that. Thanks for taking time out to read :)

Your titles alone are so captivating.  I loved the banter between the two of them in this.  From silly to serious to passionate.  Really nice job.

Author's Response: That's a nice thing to say about the titles--I've always felt titles are my weak spot. Glad you enjoyed it!

Wow so I totally wrote a review earlier today and it didn't work. WTF.

So, in short.. I looved this. It was simple and cute and them and the bickering and car antics (you should write an entire MA fic about that, I say)... it was all very gorgeous

Author's Response: So I totally went through and did my responses and just noticed I missed yours! WTF. hahaha. Thanks, flonkerton, I'm glad to feel the love. I like these kinds of bits the most--the banter and the joking and the antics. Which is probably why I write so many of them. As for an MA fic... I prefer to read those rather than write them *blushes* but maybe one of these days, I'll get up the nerve, eh?

Jut lovely, as always!  Great banter.  You do their dialog so well.  I especially liked the refrain of you're gonna kill me.  Don't know why but it made me giggle.

Very touching.

Author's Response: Thanks VB. I love writing their dialogue. And I'm glad you mentioned the 'you're gonna kill me' -- I liked that bit too. :)

This one brought up happy memories for me because I fell in love after going stargazing with someone.

Author's Response: Nice! Stargazing is pretty romantic, I think. I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for reading :)

Aw - I love this!! Just kinda wondering why they didn't wrap in some blankets and snuggle in their "stargazing" spot...instead of cramming themselves into a car. Ouch. I may be in my 40s but I do remember what that crap was like. So Callisto? I salute you for yet another beautiful chapter. Thank you so much for writing it.

Author's Response: Thanks MCC! You know, I thought about that, but in my mind the little pulloff they're stopped at is right off the highway, so, pretty exposed. (Also I thought the car might be funnier 'cause, yeah, ouch.) I'm glad you liked it :) Thanks for the review!

Okay, so I've come a little late to this party.  I'm really loving this series.  And so happy to be away from the angsty period. So many things that I loved about this particular chapter:

I love the interaction in the car on the way to the field.  Jim being all sceptical about where they are - they felt almost like a cute old bickering couple.  And I love that Pam won him over in the end when Jim got excited about seeing the moons around jupiter

I especially love this take on Pam. She's the one initiating and planning this adventure; she'd been planning this elaborate prank on Dwight on her own; and that stargazing became a source of comfort and courage in the summer before S3.  My favorite part:

But I was sick of fear and excessive caution ruling my decisions, so I trusted the map and kept going. I was feeling brave then. I thought I was brave about a lot of things that summer, but it turned out my courage kind of came and went. There hadn't been enough for me to call him, tell him how much I missed him.

And now that I'm finishing this review and have realized how many little things I loved about this, I just want to say how much I appreciate all the details.  On first read, this felt like such a nice, understated piece to me.  But after reading this for a second time, I'm impressed at how much insight and depth you've packed into this sweet little vignette. Great job!

By the way, I'm embarrassed that I've missed the Contact reference. It's been a while, but I've seen that movie at least a dozen times.  (My old roommate owned it.) Hint, please?

Author's Response: Wow, zeebee, thanks for such an in-depth review. I love when people get specific! It's nice to know what resonates. I am also glad the angsty period is past. I was missing writing their dialogue/interaction (gee, did it show?). And I definitely envision them having those kinds of friendly-bickering conversations like in the car...I really enjoyed writing that, actually. Pam taking charge has been something I've enjoyed exploring too, and she proved with the CIA prank that she still enjoyed messing with Dwight even when Jim was gone. Anyway, thank you for all the great comments! I love it! p.s. Contact is one of my favorite movies, especially Ellie Arroway, the heroine. :)

P.S.  Thank you so very much for replacing the constant loop of Melissa Manchester in my head with Lou Gramm.  Haven't thought of that song in a while either : )

Author's Response: It's such a cheesy song, isn't it? But it's been on a loop through MY head since I picked this for a chapter title, so...

Sigh. I wanted to leave you a nice little review about how I've been really enjoying this story as I do everything you write but I don't have words for it. You're amazing, honestly. And I want to be you when I grow up. That's probably weird but hey, you're giving me something to shoot for. ;)

Author's Response: That is weird. Just kidding :) Thank you, what a compliment! I'm really honored that you'd say that. I'm glad you like my stories. In theory, I'll finish something that uses my own characters one of these days...but in the meantime, this is really fun, and it's very, very nice to get such supportive feedback. So, thank you! You made me day. :)

Talking, not talking, rocking the Prius, whatever.  It's all good.

Making Pam blush is Jim's new favorite game.  Oh, I bet.

I love the detail about how they were barely speaking two months ago, and now they haven't spent a night apart in 4 weeks.  Just as I'd imagined it.

Author's Response: Hi lisa! Hey, who doesn't want to rock the Prius with Jim in the middle of nowhere? I love that you noticed Jim's new favorite game--that was a detail I liked a lot. Ah, the early days of love...

I'm made of goo now. You've turned me into goo! Absolutely loved this chapter. You write Jim and Pam really well :) Very hot too!

Author's Response: Wow, I don't know if I've ever turned anyone into goo before! Cool. This is about as 'hot' as I can get myself to write...I love reading smut but get too self-conscious writing it. So I'm glad the understated is good too :) Thanks Lux, I'm glad you liked this. Two more to go!

yay! I'm glad that Pam was able to turn something sad and lonely into something they could do together.  I love this story and I can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Thanks PPC! I liked that idea too. Besides, Jim doesn't get to have the monopoly on romantic surprises. Glad you're liking it... two more to go. Thanks for the review!

So good! Seriously, star-gazing AND making out in the car?! Fabulous! I really can't wait to see what you've cooked up for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Two excellent pastimes, brought together. Glad you liked it, JitC! Thanks for the review :)

First off, because I really want to date myself here, I can't read "midnight blue" and not think of the Melissa Manchester song of the same name from about 100 years ago.  Always liked that.  Aaaaanyway, Callisto, you make me run out of words (hard to imagine, I know).  This?  I can't even describe how wonderful it is.  This paragraph nearly made me cry:  That thought had, in fact, occurred to me the first time I drove out here. But I was sick of fear and excessive caution ruling my decisions, so I trusted the map and kept going. I was feeling brave then. I thought I was brave about a lot of things that summer, but it turned out my courage kind of came and went. There hadn’t been enough for me to call him, tell him how much I missed him.  With each chapter, you prove why you’re one of my favorites.

Author's Response: Aw Nan, you leave such sweet reviews! Thanks. To me 'midnight blue' makes me think of Lou Gramm, so I guess we're both dated? Anyway, I'm glad you liked this. I guess I was really itching to write dialogue again!

The tension in this chapter is awful- worse, maybe, then even the episodes it spans because there aren't any Michael or Dwight antics to lighten it up. That's a compliment, by the way, because those days were awful and tense for them. I love that Jim is honest at least to himself here. I just continue loving this.

Author's Response: Thanks lis. I think it's funny how we lie to ourselves even when we know better, and all the time we know we know better, if that makes any sense. Anyway, I'll be glad to leave the angst behind and write some fun quippy dialogue. I hope I did justice to the characters' motives and fears here. Thanks for reading and taking the time to review. It really helps keep me going :)

You're still squeezing my heart, callisto.  This, in particular, hurt so good:  He and Karen are leaving early to go spend the night in New York. I can’t think about that. It actually hurts. Physical pain.

Actually enjoyed the angst, but I'm waiting patiently for the happy.

Author's Response: Glad you're still with me NR. I love that you always pull out specific lines; it's nice to know what resonates. And yeah, it's nice to know there's happy on the way, eh? Thanks for the review ;)

Another perfect chapter. I think you capture the characters so well. It feels like Jim and Pam. It's not too dramatic and not too shallow, it feels real. I loved the paragraph that started with: "Roy's not Jim, and that's....." I've never really understood how she could go back to him, but this felt convincing. Great work.

Author's Response: Thanks Pisa! I hope I was able to capture their real motives and emotions. I wondered a lot about why she'd do that, too. Glad it rang true to you. Thanks for reading and for the review!

and the whole time I kept calling her Beesly because it just felt so good to use that name and know it was still true.

It's lines like this that set you apart.  So simple, yet so full of meaning.  This just really tugged at my heartstrings.  The whole story does.  So poignant, yet so full of hope.  Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks Annika! I do strive to say a lot with a little, so I consider that high praise. 'set you apart' is a really nice thing to say :) Glad you're enjoying this. I hope to update again this weekend.
