This was the first Jim x Pam fanfic I read, and now I can't find fics as good as this one. It was perfect, so perfect and true to their characters that I see it as canon, what really happened to them in this episode. What a wonderful fic that I can't stop reading again and again b29;

It looks like we'll only ever get a handful of Paper Airplane based fanfics (oh if only it had aired in like 2009!) but even still, I'm very grateful you came and wrote this chapter. You just perfectly captured the S9 arc, the really quiet but painful fraying of their relationship. And how, in true Jim/Pam fashion, they're actually rather in-sync in feeling out of sync with one another. All the bits you added are so true to the characters and to the time on the show, I can 100% see Jim saying "I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to make love to you tonight" thinking he's being cute and playful and Pam just taking it the complete wrong way. Love everything about this, especially that ending ;-)

I registered for this archive just to review this :) I know the entire world is long past any interest in The Office, but I've been re-watching a lot lately. This led to the discovery of TO fanfic....what, six, seven years later than everyone else?! I'll always regret not stumbling on this place during the glory days, but what can you do?
Anyway, thank you for these great stories. You really capture the feeling of each of these episodes so well. The Paper Airplane installment is probably my favorite, because in addition to getting JAM right, you get the general feeling of a marriage falling apart right, too. The gaps in communication, the unspoken expectations and disappointments, how even if you still love each other you just can't get out all the things you need to say. It's hard to do well.

Sorry it's taken me so long to review this; it is seriously perfect. I don't even know what else to say. The descriptions from each of their perspectives in the beginning conveyed their sadness, disconnect, and emptiness in such a realistic way. The contrast between their thoughts on their present situation and their reflections on past moments when they were so happy and in love just broke my heart. You really got inside their heads with these. And then the end.. YAY. It was sexy and sweet and so them. Thank you for this. I loved it.

I could hear every word in their voices, which is so rare for me when reading fanfic, and is when I really think an author has the characterisation spot on. I adore fics that fill in gaps. This was beautiful - Thank you.

This is truly incredible, for so many reasons and yet I'm at a loss to name them all. It was them. This was them. Perfectly done. Thank you for this, it's been ages since I read a story here. I should go before I start crying again.
Just. Thank you for this.

Oh, Kay. This was gorgeous--such a gift. You beautifully filled in the blanks.
As tiring as the kids were, at least I knew where I stood with them. I was their world, the way I used to be Jim’s world, and he was mine. This is simply heartbreaking. Everything they said, back and forth, just killed me, just as their interactions had been on the show. Of course, they love each other, but how do they get back to solid ground?
The ending of this beautiful installment was perfect. He closed his eyes as he dropped his forehead to mine, both of us breathing in ragged pants, his back sweaty under my hands, his arms trembling a little with the effort of holding himself up.
“Sorry,” he laughed through a gasp. “Um…” It tied in seamlessly with what we saw on screen.
You are such a fine writer and while I know that there's not much, if anything, left in your TO well, I hope you continue sharing your talent. xo

Tonight's episode reminded why I love this show....and this reminds me how wonderful our little fic world was here. Lovely and sexy (especially that last part - love Jim, uh, getting ahead of himself with excitement) ... exactly how I imagine it would be if there were a spy-cam in their bedroom during this period (only, not manned by Brian, cause eww.) But I digress. Thanks for this sweet bonus gift, you :-)

What the what?! How did you do this? Here's what you've done (and why I'm all flailing):
1) You've captured both of their voices here.
2) You've given us a truly realistic portrait of their marriage in its "broken" state.
3) You've established so beautifully just how connected they are even when they're feeling disconnected.
4) You've brought them back together in a believable, relatable way (that's also sexy - bonus points!).
5) And you wrote this most fantastic line: " I’m away half the week and when I’m there, it’s like she…isn’t."
Oh wow. Just wow. Thank you for this, my friend!

I always like it when Roy is written as a real person and with redeeming values as well as douchbaginess. It makes you realize why Pam had such a difficult time breaking it off with him. This was a beautifully done illustration of that - Pam thinks of Jim fondly when Roy's being a jerk and then he goes and does something redeeming.

I liked how you characterized Roy here. I always wondered how he completely changed his mind about Jim from The Alliance to The Negotiation (you know, besides the obvious - i.e. that the writers messed up). I love how he misinterprets Pam's statement to mean he was gay instead of realizing that she trusted Jim that much.
I'd love to see a story from Roy's POV. He is usually written as a one-dimensional character, more so than Karen even.

Absolutely would be interested to see something from Roy's perspective. It would be unusual and I'm sure you'd develop his character well so that he doesn't come off like a cartoon.
This little piece was nice. Gave a little glimpse into all three characters. Gotta run!

I'd be interested in anything you write!
Loved this one even though I am all for stories when they're together I just love ones where you can see their friendship developing. Perfect all around. So Manu great little touches you incorporate. I could keep gushing but I'm the next stop so I have to run. Keep these coming!

Would I be interested? In a word, yes :) I enjoyed the tension permeating throughout this story. Your characterizations are always so, so good, Callisto. I could perfectly envision this playing out. You've captured their speech patterns--I think that has a lot to do with it. Nice touch with the toaster oven and the Radiohead shirt.

As much as the words "longer" and "AU" coming from you get my heart racing, Callisto, this is perfect as is. I immediately thought of Pam the cat grabbing Three-Hole-Punch Jim's arm and could then picture them sitting in the booth. I imagine Jim slowly getting to that place where he couldn't sleep, couldn't taste anything. *sigh*
I love it when you're feeling inspired to write anything--short or long :)
