Roy promised Pam that he was going to take her out on Saturday. She was fine with that arrangement if it wasn't for the fact that on her actual birthday, Roy was at Lonnie's for the NCAA basketball championship.

Jim noticed how upset Pam was and decided to take her on a birthday ‘date.' She didn't know exactly how he convinced Michael to let the two of them have the afternoon off. However, she did spot them shopping together the following weekend at the mall.
