"I guess, then, I would have to befriend someone else. Maybe the new customer service representative, Kelly." Pam stuck her tongue out at Jim.

"I'm sure you and Kelly have plenty in common." Jim laughed as he went to hug her. "Happy birthday, Pam."

She cracked a smile and literally jumped on him to give him a bigger hug. "Thank you! This was really the best birthday ever. You're amazing."

She let go of him and just smiled. He smiled back. They stood in silence, staring and smiling at each other.

Pam is jolted back into reality by the phone.
