So this started in my mind as a little one shot (cue mocking laughter).  Of course it expanded to a little more.  It's pure speculation on my part, and is probably quite off.  :o)

Holy smoke. This is just what the doctor ordered. As always, you have me holding my breath for the next chapter - and not just because of the mounting steam (TWSS, I know.) Also such great banter and wistful, poignant, funny moments. Love the thought of Bob Vance's wedding vows including 'of Vance Refrigeration' and I think Michael as catalyst to bring them together is spot-on (don't know if it's just me, but I definitely thought that during the hotel room conversation in TC, they were setting him up to somehow, eventually play that role. Just like he quietly pulls off the big elusive paper sale, to everyone's astonishment.)

But I digress. Loving this story, please make more chapters soon. Needless to say, am looking forward to the forthcoming smut - which you always pull off to such great effect! (Also, as always, amazed at your sheer output of terrific stuff - I posted a story the other day that took me two weeks just to get the nerve to hit 'submit story' on. Must take a lesson in non-wussiness!)

Author's Response:

You leave the best reviews, you know, and I so appreciate them.  Speaking of, read your latest (need to leave a review & read it again, because I was in such a hurry), but I loved it.  Loved it that Jim makes love to her like he's afraid he'll lose her, because you could so picture that.

That sounded creepy - you know what I mean. :o)  You should never, ever hesitate to submit your stories; I have honestly not read one thing of yours that wasn't breathtaking and honestly quite poetic - seriously.  So post them ALL!

Thanks as always for the review!

I don't need to repeat how much I LOVE this series. And you have distilled the essence o'Kelly right here. Her pointing out that Pam isn't hurting Karen by talking to Jim - because if girlfriend isn't the one, Jim's the one hurting her, not Pam? Ah, the wisdom of Kelly. How I'd love to see her ultimately give the sage advice that get thru Pam's thick noggin...that would be so ironic/great.

This was a great installment - you've totally upheld the integrity of the franchise my dear.

Author's Response:

No, you don't need to but it's still nice that you do! Either Dwight or Kelly giving Pam the ultimate advice would be oddly fitting. Although Dwight dropped the ball once so I don't hold out much hope for him. Maybe Kelly will step up and prove once and for all she's got something going on between her ears!

Thanks as always, you, for your wonderful feedback!

So happy to see this series re-emerge. Oh boy, could Pam use advice now. And how sweet that both Angela (here) and Dwight (on the show) are supportive of her...even if Angela does have her own agenda (girlpower=adios Karen?) But I have to say that you're scaring me a little with how well you nail Angela's voice...how perfect that she tells Pam she'll still treat her as a shameless hussy in the office. Priceless. I know I keep saying this, but I think this was my favorite so far.

Author's Response: Yay! If you keep thinking each one is your favorite that means I'm doing my job! But the show has given us more about Angela to work with and that means more fun for me to write advice from her. She does have her own agenda but if it means a kick in the pants for Pam that's all kinds of awesome. Pam needs more allies. And more kicks in the pants! My new favorite formula is Angela+Pam=girlpower>Karen. Adios, indeed. Thanks for the continuous love of the advice!

Okay, you already know I'm a major fan of this series...but this one was seriously the best (do I keep saying that?) I never would have thought of Darryl, but it makes perfect sense. And his (your) take on Roy - bingo. I'm anticipating Roy still pursuing Pam on the show and I'd so rather the writers would just...not. So much better this way - you must send them this immediately to save us from that fate. And need I tell you how much I loved the ending? 'Yeah, I've got some time.' Ah, yes.

Author's Response: Colette, you warm my crusty cynical heart with your praise! I miss Darryl and I think he'd let Roy know what's what. And even though we haven't seen Roy in a couple weeks, wouldn't the Christmas party be just the time for him to make an awkward ill-timed move to won Pam back?! (Pure speculation - haven't read a single spoiler about tonight.) As always, the ending is fantasy on my part. But one of these days it'll be reality, right? Please?! Maybe Santa will bring it if we're good...

Let me be the first to say - you devil! So satisfying on a number of levels (though clearly not for Jim. Ahem.) I even liked that she sent him packing in such an ignominious way...Karen gets out with her dignity intact, Jim gets the wake-up call from hell and Pam gets some much needed advice. And I liked how you had both Pam and Jim sort of defending Michael and Scranton and Karen just...not getting it. (Well, neither does he, but that's another story.)

I have an idea - maybe you should set up an advice booth on the Office set (like Lucy in Peanuts.) I think you could set those pesky writers straight in no time.

Author's Response:

Didn't Lucy charge 5 cents for advice? That's about what this is worth as well! But I do enjoy telling people what to do and creating a world where Karen is a lovely person, she just can't be in Scranton or anywhere near JH. Is that so much to ask???

Poor Jim had to take a cold shower, yes, but hopefully Karen's advice will kick him into gear. She dies get the satisfaction of kicking him to the curb and Jim will get over it as soon as Pam puts her mystery plan into action. Everybody ends up happy, especially you, me and all the other Jam shippers out there!

Author's Response: ETA- change "dies" to "does" above and pardon my uncoordinated attempts at typing...

Glad you're going public with your stash of these advice columns!

I really like the idea of Oscar giving Pam advice - hadn't thought of it this way, but you're right - he could perhaps relate to Pam needing to put herself out there and follow her heart, regardless of how it looked, etc. Good point. And well told, too!

And another thing - this (and all these chapters) makes me even more acutely aware that there are so many great under-used characters in Scranton (Oscar, Phyllis, Toby, etc.) that it's kind of annoying that so much scant airtime is being spent on the new ones - I like Andy and Karen (as long as she keeps her paws of Jim), but would so much rather see interaction back at the farm. Like this.

Author's Response:

Should I have titled this "Dear Par5"? Or "Just Ask Me, I Think I Know Everything"? This should really be called "I'm addicted to fanfic and even though I'm doing NaNo, I can't stop writing fic for 30 damn days"! It's really my own love letter to each of these other characters who, as you so astutely point out, are wonderful and under-used!

That's one thing I've loved about doing these. On one hand, I like not knowing too much because I could make up all that background on Toby, but on the other hand I've avoided Stanley and Meredith so far because I feel like we don't know much beyond "Stanley likes pretzels" and "Meredith likes booze"! Hopefully after this week, with one big happy family again, we can fit in a little more peripheral character screen time. Thanks as always, my dear, for your insightful review!

Oh my god, that one was plain hilarious. You were truly channeling Dwight. Seriously, this could have been actual dialogue from the show. Fantastic!

BTW, I once did a fic (Random Scenes, 3rd or 4th chptr) where Dwight is also responsible - sort of - for re-uniting Jim and Pam...and it involves a discussion of beets. You might get a kick out of it!

Author's Response:

I think I was channeling Dwight because I don't even remember typing and there was something red on the keyboard when it was over which I thought was blood but in retrospect, must've been beet juice. Hee! Thanks for your continously fabulous reviews! I had so much fun with this one and I'm glad it gave you a giggle too.

And Colette - I think I remember that Random Scenes! Must go read now...

This is still one of the most fun series ever. Love the alphabet thing - and how funny is the line about Michael saying Ryan's the hottest in the office? You really have made each of the characters so specific...can't wait to see whose next (especially looking forward to seeing what you'll do with Kelly!)

Author's Response: Thanks Colette! I'm having fun writing it and the best thing is manipulating Jim and Pam so they call/see each other. It's funny, I have a few already written that just need cleaning up but there are a few I haven't even touched yet and Kelly is one of those. I don't know if I haven't had the right inspiration or if it just makes me too tired to get into that head of hers! I'm thinking it's the latter!

Reviewer: Colette Signed

What a great surprise - love when I discover an unexpected update of one of my favorites. I've been intrigued by the Jan/Jim dymanic ever since CN - not in the romantic sense, but because, just as you've described, I think she'd recognize something in him. Great to see it explored in a fic that doesn't involve bodily fluids! (Though lord knows, not that I mind that either - as long as she doesn't get her hooks in him!) Really well done!

Author's Response: As always, Colette, thanks for your thoughtful review. I do like Jan and (despite her ill-advised hook-up with Michael!) I think her advice would be sound. In a way, I think she and Jim would be like a before/after example of unrequited love and the toll it takes over the years (if that makes any sense). And these days, I'm leaving the "bodily fluid fics" to those who do them far better than I!

What a joy this was! Totally tickled me. The Creed creed, a horse with no name, shaolin monks, calling Pam Missy - all perfect. Since TC, I've thought Michael is being set up to someday be instrumental in bringing J&P together, but after reading this, I'm thinking how cool would it be if Creed unwittingly played a role. Too funny.

Author's Response: Thanks Colette! At this point, I don't really care who brings them together just so long as it gets done. I imagine Creed is a man of great experience and wisdom but only recalls a small portion of it!

Reviewer: Colette Signed
Date: October 02, 2006 Title: Chapter 1: Phyllis

Gotta love that Phyllis. I could hear both their voices and it seems realistic that Pam might actually hear what she says... 'great love of her life' - yes. Now if only the 'official' (TV) Pam would get clued in like this.

Author's Response:

Yes, if only Pam would get clued in! This is why I'm manipulating the universe and making her office-mates tell her their stories. I'm hoping one of these will become reality soon...

Reviewer: Colette Signed 10

Okay, now this one actually made me tear up. You so captured Toby's sweetness and melancholy and earnestness. Great evocative details too - his apartment, his loneliness for his lost family, his thoughts on Pam. He really is the perfect one to make the point to her...I like the way he comes right out and says he knows it's Jim she needs.

Oh, Toby...maybe I'll marry him (present Mr. Colette notwithstanding.)

Author's Response: I know, I just want to give Toby a big hug and tell him it's all going to be okay. Or at least give his ex a piece of my mind! Knowing that you love Toby so much, it means a lot that you thought I captured him here. After all, you gave me the nudge to put him at the front of the good advice conga line. And I won't tell Mr. Colette about this! Thanks my dear!

So glad to see this come back...so sad to see it end. Love how Jim and Pam still adore each other, still tease each other, how he still lives to make her happy - so exactly how I want to envision them in the future! Jane's super powers - hysterical. The 'fancy' beets, the green bridesmaids dresses, the recurrent jello motif...like a big grab bag of fun. Fact: this was a joy!

Author's Response:

I was reluctant to let this go.  And it's funny...cause I really thought I'd despise it in the end as being way too far fetched and contrived.  It's still on the contrived side - but...anyways...

My favorite moments were actually between the kids and the parents - esp. Janie and Jim.  Makes me sigh just thinking about it.

Thanks so much colette.  (And I don't really like beets myself - but that recipe looked really yummy when I went searching for what Janie might make. LOL!)

This story is like the gift that keeps on giving. Still a delight, so many great little bits (that I'm too lazy to specify now!)

Fact: Jim is one hot Dad...of  course so is single Jim, ice skating Jim, grilled cheese cooking Jim, nano-robot fighting Jim...maybe a good challenge would be to come up with an UN-hot Jim?

Author's Response:

Fact:  I'm so glad you think so.  Fact: There is no such thing as UnHotJim.  :)

Liked the Romeo & Juliet reference and the idea of Angela keeping Dwight in line by withholding her 'charms.' Too funny. Also, don't know if you intended it, but when they snuck out of the lame dance to be alone, I couldn't help thinking of the Booze Cruise scene...only this time it ends in an actual kiss, instead of a 27 second imagined one. Awww.

Author's Response:

I might be projecting my love of all things Jim and Pam when I write Janie and Kurt.

It's possible.  ;)  Thanks Colette!

Reading this was like a little oasis from trying to decide how I feel about last night's developments (re: K & J.)Conflicted much? Lines like: 'Those Halperts...they're insinuous' are such a delightful distraction. Love the book title too - 'egregious misappropriation of seed' may be one of the best phrases I've heard lately. (And don't get me started on its potential naughty applications.) Love the affection between Jim and Janie - a whole new dimension to how delicious he is.

Author's Response:

As I mentioned - all I know of last night is what I've "heard."  Jim's too cute to be alone - but damnit if he'll just sit around and pine any longer.  Damnit.  Damnit.  DAMNIT.

I nearly died when I stumbled across those book titles when looking for something for Dwight to equate Jim and Pam too.  I googled "devious animals" and viola.

Jim and Janie make me sigh just thinking about him.

Note to Pam - Jim will make the world's most AWESOME dad.  Get on that will you???

XOXOXO - here's a tip: go to pampong.com, season 3...they have the entire episode up (tiny format, but still.) Sssshhhh. Stumbled across it earlier and thought might like to know. Sorry for posting this here, but didn't know where else. And, back on topic - great story!

Author's Response:

Hee!  Thanks for the tip - now went and watched (and you can just email me next time I guess!)  I was trying to hold out b/c I bought a season pass and was going to have to pay for the episode anyway - but I still don't see it listed this AM.  I wanted to watch before I wrote another quick little thing...."K" related.

Back on topic...Thanks again!!

What a great distraction from angst-a-palooza. Too funny. Not usually such a fan of the 'JAM meets in the sandbox' genre, but you pulled it off with finesse - plenty of wit to balance the cute. So many great bits - jello as 'the instrument of the devil' particularly got me.

And, BTW, I totally agree - after all the psychological and narrative analysis, the good TV keep-em-hanging logic...the vexing question remains: WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH HER? This is freaking Jim for god's sake. Stamford, Shmamford...I'd be all over him like a bad coat.

Author's Response:

I am dying a slow painful death.  And it doesn't help that I'm working and for the last 2 wks have had to wait to download episodes on iTunes - and then find a way to sneak and watch.  Priorities you know.  ;)

Funny thing.  I'm really not a fan of these type of stories either.  I like my JAM straight up and uncomplicated - but I don't want to speculate and get my heart doubly broken.  I needed something to distract myself.

All I know is Pam better smarten up cause the line of women waiting in the wings is getting longer by the minute. ;)

The Fates Are Laughing and so am I. Love Jim's reaction...Antonio, indeed! This is the perfect antidote for my increasingly queasy feeling about tomorrow night's show. Keeping an open mind.....

UGH.  I know, I know.  And I have to wait till sometime Friday to watch it.  UGH squared.

No matter what - at least someplace they are together and happy....

This picks up pre-merger and is spoiler free, a bit AU as well.  I began this back in October (maybe even September), and obviously the show has deviated quite a bit from what I speculated here.

This begins with angst, but there is a great deal of fluff, steam, smut, and silly...for several, several chapters.  My idea was to go beyond the happy ending, so to speak.
