I have decided to expand on the idea of Codename: Chicken Plate. I hope it's okay that I'm leaving another review, but I wanted to add my two cents to the previous review: I do buy it, simply because - put bluntly - been there, done that. Exact same thing. And I'd been in Pam's exact same situation (read: longterm relationship, head over heels for my Jim). So while it may not be the norm for most people, I would vouch for the realism just because - again - been there, done exactly that.

Oh wow - first, love the last lines and LOVE seeing Pam so ready to make it all up to him. Second, while I totally agree with the whole making-them-wait thing (for which I have been ribbed on TWoP for being guilty of initially - kindly ribbed, I should say, as opposed to the nastiness over there right now), I was DYING for her to say, "Yes, yes you should drive up here IMMEDIATELY." Okay, so I got butterflies in my stomach - swear to god - as she was painstakingly going through each email before reading his. And I'm grinning from ear to ear at their exchanges - it makes complete sense that they'd immediately fall into flirting via email - not to mention that they definitely wouldn't stop at just one. I love it that neither of them is really trying to play it cool at this point - i.e. I won't reply for another four hours, that sort of thing.
I'll say it again: If only you were writing for the show.... BRAVO!

Okay, so I've been saving your story for when I had a chunk of time to read it, and I have to say - this is awesome so far! I think you really do a great job of capturing her interior monologue - both justifying why she hasn't contacted him in so long, while at the same time leading us through her train of thought leading up to the moment when she sends that email. Gah! I love this -- you've got his voice down so well, too! And I love the shifting points of view as well, so that we know what both of them are thinking. His email to her seemed spot on; I could definitely see him writing that. Also his assessment of Pam's email - "And it was so classically Pam. Play detached – play like you don't care – and then see if it gets a response. That way if he didn't reply, she could act like she never expected one." -- absolutely right. So very Pam.
