Author of the month December 2018

I was around this site many years ago, during seasons 4 and 5, and then went on an unexpected hiatus for several years. I'm back and better than ever! Finished up one WIP ("Sociology 101") and might finish another if inspiration strikes. For now, working on new material and enjoying being back!

Aw! I loved Jim taking over for Helene and letting her spend some time with her girls. That was so sweet and very in character for Jim. Pam getting so excited over Christmas music was cute too, and I thought the wishbone part at the end was so sweet! We definitely were robbed of season 4 holidays so I am looking forward to seeing how you ladies get us through those missing episodes. Good job, WW!

I love camping Jam! If you wanted to write a whole chapter that was just them in the tent, I’d be down for that. I think you captured the supporting cast voices well—Michael and Dwight especially—and the sexy bits were excellent. I’d probably let Jim have his way with me in the middle of a snowy hiking trail, too, TBH.

Aly! This gave me all the Christmas feels. Pam and I are very similar in what we like to do this time of year—I spent an hour looking at lights last night!—and I loved their Christmas Eve activities so much. You write them both really well and it was a joy to read. And then the story about the necklace and the redo poker chip!! Just eff me up, why don’t you. Great job!!

You know what I want to say but I won’t cause I’ve said it so many times before, lady! More than half this chapter was steamy (and GREAT steam) so you can never ever say that about yourself again.

And YES we love a jewel tone and they DO look great on everybody!

“You really have a type, huh? Something about a front desk really does it for you.” Lady you make me laugh out loud.

I love that we get this chapter along with the visual of Jenna learning to ski IRL from her Instagram a few days ago! Perfect timing. Your descriptions gave me flashbacks of learning to ski myself.

And then this was just so lovely. A quiet, comfortable moment with the two of them appreciating their love. Beautiful job!

Summary: Jim and Pam’s first (office) Christmas (party) together. Plus some trees, some notes, and some blood. Just your average Office Christmas.

WW, this was so CUTE! I loved all of their costumes and wish we’d seen a cinema Christmas party in the show because it is a perfect idea. Jim’s dialogue was excellent, I laughed out loud at the Hallmark movie comments and the bystander #3 joke. And then the trees and the ornaments seemed like exactly the thing he would do, and *of course* they’d have a mishap that would result in an ER visit. Loved this. Great job!

Summary: Jim and Pam have been divorced for two years, but the death of an old friend brings them back together. (The story is the same up until their wedding but they never have kids. Then push up Michael leaving, Athlead/Athleap and Dwight and Angela being married.)

Welcome to MTT! I have to say, I am a big fan of angsty stories that deal with them fighting or breaking up or going through something heavy, because I think that’s how real relationships are. We saw some of that in the show, but in my opinion not enough. I like my ships to be a bit broken before they get put back together, you know? So this is right up my alley. It’s so sad that Michael is dead! I think you handled all their reactions to that news very well, though. And I loved the interactions between Jim and Dwight and Angela and Pam. Looking forward to more!

I really truly don’t have the words for this.

Every word of this was perfection. The imagery of her dress and a Cinderella moment and the confrontation in the bathroom and them both moving and I really thought that was it and then it wasn’t, and that kiss and then how they talked all night and kill me with that Han Solo and Leia energy at the end my godddd

Everything you write is always poetry, always flawless and emotional and evokes such a wide range of feelings that has me in awe at the end of every piece. This is no exception. Beautiful job, friend! Thank you for sharing it with us!

Author's Response: Oh BT, your reviews always feel like a work of art in and of themselves. I love that enjoyed this so much and thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your encouraging words.

"It was like a more pathetic and hopeless game of Six Degrees." Ugh I loved this line. I can picture Jim's life being EXACTLY like this.

The entire exchange about old man ice cream and Pam popping out her dentures made me laugh out loud. That was so cute! Banter written perfectly, I loved it.

"He felt a sudden rush of longing—an ache so tangible that he could almost pluck it out of thin air and keep it stashed in his back pocket, only to be pulled out again when she did something simple, like exist near him." Freaking poetry. Love this SO much.

LADY. I gasped aloud at his "your place or mine" text only for you to RIP THAT AWAY FROM ME! But realistically I think you wrote it exactly how he would have handled it.

Already can't wait for more of this! Such a good set up and everything is so in character. I know you're like, busy with life and and unpacking and everything but if you could just drop all of that to write this story, that'd be great.

I am so invested in this story. All of it is perfection. Her inner monologue while he’s there after finding her ring—and you snuck in a wet Jim, you minx—and his perspective from the next day is so good and so true to character, it’s hard to believe this isn’t canon. And is it wrong of me to hope that Roy is trickle-truthing and that there’s more to the story so that Pam has a good hard reason to be done immediately? If it’s is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.

Fantastic job, lady. Can’t wait for the next update!

WW, this was so lovely. I just got caught up on the last four chapters and loved every second. You wrote the balance of angst and new love and excitement and friendship and heartbreak so well! I loved how Pam looked for reasons to stay and how Jim called her out on her weirdness right away and how he stood up for himself and how she realized what she had before it got away. So great, lady!

Summary: Pam has to grapple with the price of fame and the worst moments of her marriage just to finish her Christmas shopping.

I was having a moment of “omg, should I stop being so invested in The Office and Jim and Pam? I’m making Pam feel bad.” This writing felt so real and true to their voices if we had been able to see the more away from the cameras, which obv we couldn’t have because then how would we see them? Your prompts were blended in seamlessly and your premise and the resolution and everything else was just so lovely. Truly a great job!

Author's Response: Okay, I really appreciate this review and I’ll tell you why: that reaction of "how is my fandom impacting Jim and Pam, these real people?" was the exact reaction I was hoping to provoke (mostly because it’s the exact reaction I always had to GodInThisChilis. Then of course you get that moment of relief when you remember that no, they're NOT real people, which is always fun). Seriously, I mentioned this elsewhere, but I'd *hate* to think what this Pam would've thought of MTT. And I’m really glad this read as true to Pam, because I spent a lot of time worried this was going to sound like a think piece and/or just like me. I’m so glad you liked this! Thanks for taking the time to read and review!

Hi, I love this. You have captured everyone’s voices SO well, which ofc is no surprise at all. I truly love that they are all looking out for her, Michael especially. It’s so sweet and feels very fitting. I just know that with the party scene you’re going to kill us all, and I for one ~*~cannot wait~*~

and I love you. I will trade you the next chapter for a Savannah Jim update. Help me start my year off right.

He must have known that it wasn’t a coincidence - that with the press of his lips to hers he had unraveled the careful stitching she had done to bind her life to Roy’s. Jim had found the loose thread and tugged at it, instead of cutting it precisely like you were supposed to do, and the entire thing had fallen apart.

I’m sorry. How dare you?

She let his words and the soft tone of his voice roll over her and then there was a ladder in her pit of despair and when she glanced skyward there was light on the horizon where before there had only been swirling, thunderous clouds.

I’M SORRY. HOW DARE YOU?

And then this ENDING??? Thank god you posted both chapters cause I have to know *now*

Author's Response:

Is it really a Christmas movie if there isn’t a very uninspired B plot “mystery” in there somewhere. Who is leaving me this elaborate days of Christmas calendar? Who is the anonymous donor that got us over our fundraising goal? My new neighbor who looks exactly the same as me just found out she had a sibling who was adopted out & what a coincidence I was adopted too so I’m going to help her figure this out. Why is my neighbor so intent on shoving a Christmas tree up on his roof?

Did I... watch too many Hallmark Christmas movies... Help.

Author's Response: BT. Taylor. Friend.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much this is my least favorite piece of my own writing ever & the only way I could reconcile myself with posting it was by trying to convince myself it was a deliberate choice - that I was leaning into the very lame Christmas movie trope & that’s why the writing was a car crash. Anyways, I appreciate this review very much even though I feel like it has come from a place of the absolute kindest kindness.

Author's Response: Aww, thank you so much, BT! I'm happy you enjoyed these stories, and I'm happy I started this thing in the first place (though I think I probably threw a pack of spoilers for half of my future stories here, haha).

I read all 5 chapters in mostly one sitting and I just cannot stop thinking about it. There is so much about the way you write that I just love! You have some beautiful turns of phrase that I’m super jealous of. You kept me guessing with Pam’s story and Jim’s breakup and now I’m so looking forward to getting their perspectives as they navigate what the next 6 weeks bring. There were lots of moments I laughed out loud, I love how you captured the supporting cast even if they’re only being mentioned and don’t have dialogue. Michael comes to mind there especially. Can’t wait for more, JJ! And I hope you have made a full recovery!

The weaving in of lyrics and canon moments and the imagery and the literally everything in this. Lady, this is my favorite thing of yours that I’ve ever read. You have such a skill and a gift when it comes to putting them in their emotions in real time; I felt like I was going through it all with them. And you did SUCH a great job with this song! I was blown away with how you interpreted it so perfectly. I really loved the premise and seeing these different points from each of their perspectives and the addition of Karen was genius. And I think you nailed exactly how they would all act had the show been airing in real time, down to the confrontation at the table. Well, outside the bathroom.

Amazing. Loved every word.

Author's Response: Aw BT, thank you! That's a very sweet thing to read. This song took a bit of thinking to interpret. Thank you for the kind words.

Coley. This is amazing. I want more but also I don’t, because it is a singular piece that is so heartbreakingly perfect and captures all the feelings of angst and want and bittersweet love that can’t be that the song embodies. You killed this, sister. I have to go reread it right now and make sure it is burned into my brain. Perfection.
