Author of the Month March 2020

I've been writing fanfiction for awhile now. Just recently discovered The Office and figured I'd try my hand at that as well.

At first I thought of having all my stories in the same universe, but then I had some AU ideas. So any stories that occur within a common universe will be in a given series.

Lots of good internal thoughts here. Jim of course being head over heels with Pam yet I do like the fact that he's still doing his best to take her feelings and relationship status into account.

Pam's confused feelings about everything seem very real and in character for her. That she'd want to get out and distract herself from such thoughts makes sense too. Very good follow up chapter to the previous one in that regard. Looking forward to seeing what happens when Jim comes over.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for all your reviews!

So, alcohol is wearing off and guilt is creeping in. Or, at least, the guilt of not feeling enough guilty. Which is a feeling I really hate on myself but turns out is really fun to write.

 Thanks again!

Very nice here. I like how Jim takes his time and makes sure he's not overstepping any boundaries. Then when they do come together it's very sweet. That Pam is realizing she wants more than her life with Roy is great to see. That she's also realizing that the life she wants is what Jim is offering is sweet as well.

Author's Response:

The thing I love about season 3 (one of the few things, really, because that season is painful to watch) is how Pam finds herself and her voice and that makes it possible for her to be with Jim later on, as her own person, amd a steong independent woman.

Placin this in season 2 gives me little time for that, but still, I want her to do that learning curve, even if it's just in hours instead of months.

You're very welcome. Though considering my own stories have a few typos from time to time I've tried to hold off, unless it's kind of glaringly obvious. Hope that's ok.

Anyway getting into this chapter. I really like Pam's courage here. To drive all the way up to Roy to tell him its over. That he at first doesn't believe her or then try to stop her or try to save their relationship seems fitting. Roy trying to cut her off and not listen seems appropriate for him too. He's never really listened to her before, why start now?

Then she keeps on with that courage to text and call Jim again. That Jim is still awake and concerned and that Roy isn't just shows who's right for Pam and who's not. Then when he comes over he's not pushy and he lets her lead the conversation. Their admissions to each other are great to see. Nicely done this time around.

Great googally moogally! This got updated! I think you got both of them well in character here. That Dwight always saves wrapping paper to use later is so very Dwight of him. Likewise his glee with the BSG model. Lots of fun there.

Angela is also in fine form. Quiet, but cool, calculating, and observant. Fits her character well.

All in all great scene here. Hopefully it won't take another year for the next chapter, pretty please?

Delightful way to wrap this one up. Thanks for sticking with it and bringing it to a close. Kind of sad for Jim that he had to go through the break-up with Karen. However at this stage in that relationship it feels like a lot less sting than had it gone on as long as it did in canon.

Jim and Pam's reconnection was adorably sweet. Her showing him how to wrap presents was sweet. The image of what they then used the scarf for was sinfully sexy. And then they're back together as partners in crime. Nice way to round that one off too.

You got Dwight and Angela perfect. The double meanings for everything. Dwight underestimating that the cats would give away the game, and of course the odd yet sweet romance that is the Dwangela relationship.

Pam's final thoughts were the final cherry on top of everything here. What could be better than picturing her and Jim curled up together like that? Bravo.

Lovely to see an update with this one. It's all very sweet. Pam's letter is on point. I love that him reading hers is what triggers him to give her the Teapot Note. And as it usually does in an AU, Pam reading it is what finally gets them completely together. Great fun to see that especially with kisses in the snow. Hope to see the wrap up soon.

Actually that was kind of fun. Dwight letting the air out of the bike tires was a nice touch. While the prank scoreboard is heavily in Jim's favor, Dwight's not off the board at all and it's something like that shows that fact.

The dialogue between Dwight and Angela seems very believable. His frustration at cats seems very appropriate. As does the fact that Angela will respond to kindness. Good chapter, onto the next one.

Nice bit of fluff here. Some awkwardness yes, but it's nice to envision them having a good time like this. Spritz cookies are amazing. Every Christmas my family has a holiday baking day and those are what my Mom usually makes.

Here's hoping a little liquid courage will help Pam or Jim find that card of hers. Wonderful to see an update.

Kinda weird to say nice job with an angry argument, but nonetheless, nice job. They both have valid points. Pam maybe a few more than Jim. Is there going to be more to this one? Seems a little unfinished with Pam just stalking off to her car like that now that everything's out in the open.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much!

I really don't know if I should continue this. I have two possible scenarios in my head, nd both are very cliché, so... I don't know.

Angry parking lot conversation to angry sex to now we're together. Actually, sounds plausible for these two at this point in their relationship. You can really feel the emotions here, that yes they're both angry at each other, but even still under that there's love. To have that come out at the end was very nice to see. Thanks for finishing this one.

Author's Response: Thanks a lot! I thought it might be a bit ooc for Pam in season 3, but I've been watching season 6, in which she's more of a bad*ss, so I guess it kinda fits?

I'm glad you found it plausible!

As much as I don't like to envision Pam and Roy together, it is canon and I'm sure at least in the early stages of their relationship Pam had a lot of thoughts like these. So it seems very appropriate for where she is. I do like that Jim can accomplish with so, comparatively, little what Roy was unable to do so with years of being with Pam.

Very vivid writing. That she calls Jim back for their third date so soon is just icing on the cake.

Summary: Past Featured Story

A Will They or Won't They AU with Pam and Jim as next door neighbors.

“Pam, come on. Don’t do that.” The sound of his bare feet on the wooden floor following behind kept me in motion through the dining room, looking under chairs for my sandals. I summoned everything I had in me not to look at him in his currently half-dressed state.

“Don’t do what? Jim, I’m fine. Really.”

I’m just in love with you and you only want to be friendly neighbors. And, also, since I’m being honest with myself, my body is not loving the unsated high of being as aroused as I just felt with your hands on me like that.

Okay, long past time to write this review. Great way to wrap this up. After all the will-they-won't-they roller coaster ride, it's great to see that once they do figure things out they're just about inseparable. There were just so many great moments throughout this chapter. Pam on the phone with both Jan and Karen, the brunch with her co-workers, and of course all the hijinks she and Jim got into. I always like reading the moment when Jim and Pam finally get together and this one didn't disappoint in any way.

There's only one small thing that's troubling me. While Jim and Pam getting together here was wonderful to read, through the wild weekend they had I can't help but take my hat off to that poor bowl of ice cream. There is sat until it melted away into ice cream soup in its bowl. May we all long remember the noble frozen treat that sacrificed itself so nobly that our favorite pair of idiots would finally get together.

Author's Response: Thanks for this kind review, W4! I’m so glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate your kind words. While I’m never one to sacrifice ice cream, it had to happen for the cause, man. 😂

But what about the uneaten ice cream? It's going to melt all over her bed. Think of the stickyness! Well, then again, there might be other reasons for stickyness soon so ice cream might be the last thing on their minds.

Great chapter. It was really nice to see Jim insist on being heard this time around. You might think that ending is cheesy, but it works really well. Very glad to see this chapter and how it all turned out.

Author's Response:

Ha! Thanks for that, Warrior. Yeah, I think ice cream is the last thing on their minds right now...

Thank you for your kind words and glad to hear the ending works for you!

Well, you still have Andy true to form. The rest of it though. Sweet merciful crap! These two have their heads just as far up their asses as canon Jim and Pam. I mean that in a good way. Seriously, this story has all the tension and feeling one got from the show just transposed into this new setting. Those early seasons are a big reason why so many people were drawn to the Office and by re-creating the feel of that, you're achieving the same result. Frustrating to not end, mind you, but still great nonetheless.

Author's Response: Wow, Warrior! Thanks. This hits on all the feels I was aiming for. Thanks for your kind words.

Idiots clearly describes them both. Pam if you had only waited a bit longer. The switch here really works well. Nice to finally see where the majority of the tension is coming from though. But how will it all ultimately unfold? That is the current question right now. Glad to see a quick update and here's hoping for another quick update.

Author's Response: Thanks, Warrior! They are idiots, right? But that makes them fun to write so...

So does this mean you're going to get off AG's case about the whole bodysuit thing? Just wondering is all.

Anyway, this brings back much of the feels of Seasons 1 & 2. Already you can tell she likes him in a more-than-friendship kind of way and is just trying to deny things. At least that's how I read it. Bringing in elements from the show, but with a twist is great. That Andy would actually act like that on a date was quite fun to see. Onto the next chapter.

Author's Response:

Absolutely not. AG would be worried if I didn't stay on her case.

Thanks, W4! Poor Andy would be ridiculous on a date. I'm so glad you liked the elements from the show. There's too much great stuff from that show to play with!

So Jim rejected Pam back in May? Is that what we're getting here? Like I said earlier, you're doing a great job at taking things from the show and twisting them around like this. Leaves one wondering what's going to pop up and how it's going to show itself this time around.

So, will Jim take the promotion? Will we have a repeat of the events of "The Job?" I honestly don't know and it makes for a great story. Also Karen as the best friend is working will here too.

Author's Response: There are a lot of twists to come! I'm so glad Karen works as the best friend here. I love creating that relationship in AU. :)

You're being a tease. You know that right? Being a tease in the best possible way, because it really draws one into this story, but still a tease nonetheless.

Still doing a great job with all the call backs to the show. A lot of fun to read this story.

Author's Response: Oh, absolutely. I intended to publish that all at once, but I'm kind of having fun with dragging out the chapters, especially since it's done. Knowing that this story is fun is 1,000% what I was going for when writing this so THAT is a great review. Thank you!

This was great. Doing a little mix and match of some of the great lines and scenes from the show was a lot of fun. Nothing like a life and death situation to get one to focus on what really matters. That you have Jim's first thought was to save Pam just shows how much he does truly care.

Then that last line at the end. Just icing on a great cake. Great first fic. Hope to read more from you going forward.

You may not look at this story again, but hopefully you're still keeping an eye on review counts, yes? Yes. Good.

So yeah, that's one helluva chapter there. Going to get this out of the way right now, was the "refused to be called Jamie," line intended to be a shoutout for yours truly? If so, d'awww thank you. Great way to use that name, but in your own way rather than how I've used it. If it's not a shoutout, no worries. Same compliment still applies though.

There's just so much to unpack here. It does flow in a way that makes sense though. After everything from last chapter it's easy to see that Pam could have lost sight of herself a little there. Then when JD shows up her facade as Ella is her first step back from being lost. Acknowledging their real names on the roof being the next step there. That Jim is the one to say he can't is a great choice. Casino Night was a huge hit and I think it makes sense that Jim is still reeling from not only Casino Night, but all their other adventures written here.

The quick fast-forward through Season 3 and into Season 4 worked well too I thought. It was a hard time in their lives, they made their peace with it and have progressed in their relationship. However it was very fun to have that last flirty IM conversation. Even though there were still huge emotions, they can still remember they had a very enjoyable experience and why not re-create some of that. Well done in that regard.

Great writing as always.

Author's Response:

Thanks for this! I love that you picked up on Jim saying “I can’t” because that felt like a pretty pivotal moment for me in this whole thing.

As for the Jamie call-out... ;)

As always, thank you for reading!
