Author of the Month March 2020

I've been writing fanfiction for awhile now. Just recently discovered The Office and figured I'd try my hand at that as well.

At first I thought of having all my stories in the same universe, but then I had some AU ideas. So any stories that occur within a common universe will be in a given series.

Dwight being a fire and brimstone kind of preacher fits well here. That Jim has incurred his ire so soon also seems quite fitting. I do like how taken with Jim, Pam is finding herself here. I got the feeling that Jim's appearance is a breath of fresh air one one opens a window that had been shut closed for far to long. Looking forward to seeing what new things come with this wind.

Great way to have this Jim prank preacher-Dwight. Seemed like quite the appropriate jest, especially considering this Jim is so well versed in books.

Lots of little warm and glowing moments between Jim and Pam here. Especially with him being complimentary about her artwork. It's wonderful to envision this Pam starting to glow when she's around Jim. Makes me very curious as to how this will all play out for the two of them.

Author's Response:

Thank you!

Hope I keep develop their relations naturally and without the rush.

Lovely chapter here. Shades of Casino Night, The Dundies, and the Booze Cruise if I don't miss my mark. They all blended together seamlessly here so well done for getting that through. I really like how Jim and Pam are collaborating here. That they just have the easy rapport with each other like in canon.

Looking forward to seeing how the rest of this plays out.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for your review! I'm glad I kept the canon events recognizable.

Also, there was a hint of 'Phyllis' Wedding,' though I'll put that line on in the story later :)

And there's Casino Night raising its head in all its angsty angstyness.

Anyway, I did like the earlier interaction between Pam and Jim here. Him not caring about the rumors, she does care about them. I also like how she doesn't back off from him. She let's him know what's on her mind. i get the feeling she wouldn't do that with Roy. She wouldn't feel that Roy would care nor would she feel comfortable enough to speak up. However she can talk like that to Jim since she's come to trust him. At least that's my take on it.

Looking forward to seeing how the rest plays out.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your review!

Unfortunately, this angst was inevitable, for both 'The Office' and Austen parts. But I don't enjoy it, so I try to move to happier times as quick as it's possible.

And yes, Pam definitely wouldn't talk to Roy that way. This Pam doesn't have any attachment with him (well, except the engagement). On the other hand, with Jim, she has a connection, based on similar views, tastes, and, yes, trust so that she would share her doubts with him. I hope that was believable.

So Penny married Roy in quite the scandal. I've got an inkling now of why Jim may have stayed away so long. I'm sure it'll come to light in the next chapter.

I see what you mean by an interlude chapter. It serves its purpose to advance the plot to be sure. I wonder if the same might have been accomplished with maybe a conversation over afternoon tea between Pam and Angela. Pam staring off into the distance while Angela tells her of all the things she's done. Rather than just telling us, have it as character interaction.

Now, as I have never read any Jane Austin, and have only having seen snippets of the various movies of her works, this could also be in keeping with the inspiration material. If that's the case, no harm no foul.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your comment!

Jane Austen used reviews to describe briefly the events before and after the main plot (and sometimes in between). I guess, I did the same thing because it was easier for me to just fill the blanks with sketches than to deep into angst and discussions. I'm not sure if it worked out smoothly, but... oh well.

I return to the usual narration style in the next chapter.

Quite a few references to the show here and there. Jan's financial woes, the appearance of Holly, and of course Jim's return with another woman on his arm. All wrapped around the time period. Great to see an update. Looking forward to more.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your review!

Update will be quite soon.

Nice way to incorporate Dwight finding Pam alone there. I do find it interesting that thus far Jim and Pam have had no serious interaction since his return. I get why, he has Karen on his arm and she's trying to avoid him. Looking forward to the inevitable when they do find themselves directly face to face.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your review!

Though Pam and Jim are good at avoiding (both in the show and here), I do promise they find a way to interact - one or another.

Interesting take on things here. Toby being Michael's brother-in-law was a bit of a hoot. Michael's animosity for the show seemed to be on full display here.

Other than that, I'm seeing shades of Season 3 between Jim and Pam here. Jim pranking Dwight, but not totally going for it. Pam wishing she was still his partner in crime. Both of them letting out only glimpses of their feelings before a mask of polite indifference is pulled down.

I wonder though if Jim overhead Pam responding to "Miss Beesly," rather than "Mrs. Anderson." Makes me wonder if such a thing will come up in next time around. Looking forward to the next chapter for sure.

Author's Response: Thank you for your review! I'm glad you noticed that 'Miss Beesly' address.

Interesting scene to be sure. Lots of quotes and moments from the show mixed in nicely as well. Jim avoiding Pam for most of the evening seemed to fit well within the scheme of what we saw in Season 3. However I did catch those re-purposed lines from Pam's beach speech.

However to end it there, with Jim offering her a glass of wine seems very interesting. Looking forward to seeing how this goes from here.

Author's Response: Thank you for your review! It gives me a great pleasure to mix episodes from the show with the regency setting and I'm happy when it fits well :)

Yes that's a bit of a snap. Subtle enough that those around the table wouldn't suspect anything amiss, but seemingly loaded with undertones for Pamela and James here. Especially if that exchange comes after a month of James being around with another woman on his arm. Nicely written.

Author's Response: Thank you! I really enjoy playing with subtlety and double meanings.

Very interesting chapter. Of course Toby's interested in Pam. Nice call back to canon there. Also glad Pam's not interested in him in the slightest. Nice way for things to start to mend between Jim and Pam here. I was kind of hoping for more of a confrontation between the two of them after the last chapter. However the end of this one is a bit more easy to work with. Here's hoping that Jim heard enough of Pam's conversation to get the ball rolling a bit more.

Author's Response:

Thank you for your nice review!

I like Toby, truly, and wish him to be happy. And yet, I made him having an unrequited affection. The things I've done for the Jam to be...

Amazing what a letter can do to a person. Loved the change in her after she read it. After so much that's gone on it's now their time. Of course the image of Jim riding up on horseback and her running (or the regency equivalent of the same) is a delightful image as well.

Heck of a proposal there too. Very much not unwelcome. Great to see how all that unfolded.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review! I wanted to make this their meeting looks like their first one, and I'm glad it worked out well.

Interesting take on Jim's parents. Usually they're seen as very pro-Pam. Granted it's a different time and place here but it's a unique kind of change. Love that Jim and Pam just don't care about anything and go ahead with a short engagement and wedding After all the time apart it's a great contrast that's a joy to envision.

Nice to get wrap-ups on all the other characters as well. Lots of tied off ends and all that.

Lovely writing throughout this story It's been a lot of fun to picture the familiar characters in this time and place. Well done.

Not miserable at all. It's an interesting take on Pam's thought process at that time in her life. Her thoughts and actions betray her true feelings here. She still wants to do the right thing and hang on to her old relatioship, but even here in her most private of moments, she lets her heart guide her and she basks in its glow. Great one-shot here.

Author's Response:

Thanks Warrior. Miserable in that it doesn’t end in HEA. I doubt Pam would be as cognizant at this time in canon, but that’s the beauty of fic...

Summary: Feature

What if...Jim never got Pam's note? Jim accepted the corporate job? Married Karen? Pam quit? Married Roy? What if...both are divorced and run into each other again? AU.

I'll admit I was hesitant to click on this one. There have been a few fics like this that put readers through the wringer. But that's on me not on you. Nice way to sum up everything that's gone on in Pam's life to this point. Seeing what Jim has been up to should prove interesting as well.

Author's Response: (omg i'm a noob, I totally typed this originally as a review...) Thank you! I COMPLETELY understand what you mean. After writing this chapter, I sat and went, "Well sh*t, now how is THIS gonna happen, or THIS?" But, I have some plans that will hopefully work? Fingers crossed (as I bite my nails). Thanks again!

A very plausible series of events to my mind. Okay, now that we're all caught up, the real fun begins. How are these two going to handle everything? I'd like to think there's hope, especially with that line, "my first and only ever true love."

Hopefully not to angsty.

Author's Response:

Oh, have as much hope as possible! Not too angsty, I promise

Lovely to see an update. Time has gone by and clearly this Jim and Pam are in different places in life. However their connection stays the same. Looking forward to seeing how this one goes.

Author's Response: Haha thank you! You’re right, things may have changed in their lives, but they’re the same ol’ Jam we know and love!

So interesting look at this pre-meeting Jim. Kinda let yourself go there a bit didn't you Jim? I mean I get it, a divorce has got to be rough on a guy. However I do love that it's his time with Pam that get his butt in gear to start some real positive changes. The same with their text banter back and forth. That whole we need to be Jim and Pam again thing? Yeah looks like it's well on its way. Yes, short but it seems important in order lay a good foundation for later. Lovely update.

Author's Response: Well thank you haha! I’ve read SO many pieces, and seen it in real life too, how stereotypical that it’s always the female in the relationships wallowing, not cleaning, etc. Men do it too! Thank you for your kind words!

Very cute. I kinda liked that we didn't have Jim and Pam together in this one funnily enough. As much as I love Jim and Pam together, this was a refreshing break. God for Isabel to give Pam a bit of a kick in the pants there. Of course things are going to be interesting when Jim finds out she has the boys, but considering how well things are going between them, I don't foresee to many major problems.

Lovely update.

Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah, he’ll have to find out eventually right? I mean, you can’t hide a big part of your life from someone for too long. Who knows how he’ll take it!

Lots of good progress on in their re-building their relationship here. I like that Jim has the realization that his heart still and has always belonged to Pam. Yes mistakes were made in the past, but there's a new chance here and I'm really glad he's taking it.

Good on him to stand up to Karen's BS like that. Adults acting like childish teenagers are among my pet peeves and it's great to see Jim call her out like that. Well done. Also that it gave him the courage to ask Pam out to dinner. The whole nervous hesitancy was cute to imagine.

Kinda wondering if on this date to the city is when Pam will mention her boys. It'll be interesting to see his reaction to that. However considering the ground that's been covered and the rebuilding they've already done, hopefully it's not to big of a speed bump.

Author's Response:

Well, thank you! Unfortunately, I've met plenty of individuals who act like childish teenagers when it comes to adult situations. I would have called Karen out on her BS as well.

Well, Pam's gotta tell him about her boys before it's too late, right? I mean, it's not like it could be a dealbreaker............right? (just some suspense lol)

Thanks again for your kind words!

You're right not a lot of JAM, but it felt like a good set up. Nice to have Is as Pam's hype-girl. Not that Pam needs any encouragement to see Jim, but just a push in the right direction isn't hurting anyone. Also to make sure she tells Jim about the boys. I've got a feeling it's going to be a shock for him to be sure. But if this is going where I think it is, I'm sure he'll be able to get over his shock fairly quickly.

Very much looking forward to the date after all this time and set up. Hope to see a new update soon.

Author's Response: Thank you for your kind words! Yes, a hype-girl is always needed! Yes, the boys will be told during their date. Pinky promise!

Super cute lead up to everything. I love how Jim is just chomping at the bit to get out of work so he can get Pam. How all the driving he was doing seemed to be over in a flash because of his excitment.

Though we're still left hanging about the boys. I've got a feeling you're waiting for a Pam POV chapter to delve into that, so that's ok.

Lovely to see an update.

Author's Response:

Yes, Jim 1000% wanted to be the "yes man" at the Camden branch to get to Pam. Yes, that drive is a bit long from the outskirts of Philly to Scranton (2 hours), but nerves and excitement make the time go SO much faster.

BINGO. You got it. It would make more sense that a Pam POV delves into her kids, her nerves about telling him...her hesitation as to why she didn't...

Thanks Warrior, always appreciate your reviews!

Getting kind of hot and heavy right from the off. However a quick slow down for some real honesty between the two of them. Pam saved the note and the medal! That's all sorts of adorable. Finally she can give it to him.

Also good on her for finally telling Jim about the boys. Really glad he takes that in stride. I'm sure it's a bit of a shock though.

Then of course they're finally fully together. Very detailed and sexy.

Glad you picked this one back up. Great job.

Author's Response:

Thank you! It's absolutely a shock for Jim. Going from believing she has no ties to her past marriage to, surprise! Two kids! But, he does honestly want to be apart of that side of her life!

Yes, the honesty is needed! And the note and medal make a grand appearance here!

Thanks again!

Oh we have to see what happens after all this. I mean for Pam to figure out that Jim is in love with her this early and not do anything about it? Especially with those doubts she's having about Roy? Yes please continue!

I loved the backstory for the Bonus Gifts. It's always fun to see what people can come up with for those. Likewise the songs behind them. Pam's picture for Jim was equally sweet. As was his reaction to it. Delightful text banter as well.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so glad you liked what I did with the bonus gifts. It was a lot of fun for this Office newbie :). I have definitely taken your advice and have continued this fic as an AU sequel called "New Year's Eve." I hope you get the chance to read it and let me know what you think.

You three are working together? Good thing I got three new bottles of whiskey for Christmas, I might need them by the time this is all said and done. Kidding of course.

Great way to start things off here. I really liked that Pam want to show Jim more of where she grew up and also start making memories with him there too. I loved their banter throughout their adventure too.

And of course as richly detailed and steamy as anything else you three have written in the past. Lovely version of Jim and Pam's first Christmas together.
