I am completely loving this story!  I've been totally in the mood for the fluffy, sappy stories that make you smile the entire way through, and this is perfect.  I can't wait to see how the 2008 picnic unfolds!

Author's Response: Well, I completely love your telling me that! Thanks for the feedback, Laur815...2008 on it's way.

I really loved this chapter!  It made me laugh out loud quite a few times, and I really liked how realistic it was.   I can't wait to read more installments, and hopefully something will go right for Jim and Pam down the line!

Author's Response:

Well I can assure you that in my world, they get it right all the time, even if we don't see it ;-)

I'm so happy that this rang true for you, I was trying to make it as realistic as possible and I'm thrilled if I succeeded.  I am glad I could give you a chuckle, and I hope to follow up with a few more laughs in the next part.

That's it?  Two chapters?  I was so hoping for more when I clicked on this story.  Granted, I know there are still more to come, but I was hoping to read all of them at once (I probably should have looked a bit harder at the story description).  Well done, and so gut wrenching.  Part of me really wants this story to end happy, and another part can totally imagine the fifth installment as their final "farewell" as a couple.  Whatever you do....it's going to hit me emotionally either way!

Author's Response: I actually did think about posting it all as one chapter, but the other parts are so much longer that it would have been quite lengthy.  So I decided to break it up.  Plus, it draws out the suspense.  I'm cruel, I know :)  Thanks so much for reading!

I have no idea if you can quote in fic replies, but this is my best effort.  I'm great, hope you are doing well also!  Glad to see you've jumped on the Jim/Pam train...I love that you are here!  I've been reading more than writing lately, but hopefully that will change.  I'm so happy to see you're still around. :)

Author's Response: aww thanks! I\'ve run into a few former LNers around the web lately at different places, but you\'re the first JAMer! I am happy to see you\'re a Jam fan also & I\'m glad to see you\'re still around too, I looooved your fic, I saw you wrote one Jam one. I haven\'t read it yet b/c I haven\'t had time but I plan on it! I hope you\'ll write more!! :)

I love coming to MTT and seeing a story by you!  What a great way to spend a Sunday evening.

First of all, I love that this is fluff.  A little bit of drama filled with a ton of cute moments that make me wish we didn't have to wait until who knows how long for the next Office episode.

And all of it, the insecurity, the fear, the anger, it all left. With those three words, Old Jim was gone and New Jim fully took hold. Mine, he thought as he slanted his eyes down to look into her pretty face. Mine.

I love this part, mainly because I love seeing Possesive!Jim.  Pam is his, and he deserves being a little selfish.

Great job, Shari...and I can't wait for more!

Author's Response: awww thanks Laur!! I plan for a slight bit of .. well, I won\'t even say angst, but, you know, planning a wedding is stressful so there will be... disagreements, I\'ll say. haha. but this is fluff. I don\'t have the discipline to do angst unless I literally have every sentence plotted, otherwise I lose my nerve. I hope to see some more stories from you in the future too!!

Summary: Season three ended beautifully. But from about Benihana Christmas on, I felt that there were many near misses on Jim and Pam actually having an honest conversation.

Here's another take on what might have happened if Jim had found Pam crying over him in Back From Vacation. I know, I know...done and redone. Just can't help myself. Spoilers for Back From Vacation.

Very cute story!  I wasn't expecting it to switch to first person, and I thought it was pretty neat that you did that.  Especially after Jim called Pam out on talking to him in the third person.

And I officially think I'm an idiot, but I was a little confused on the ending until I came here and read EH's review.  For some reason, I thought you had written Pam as the bride, so I was a tad lost for a second.  But now I get it, and I like it very much.

 Great job!

Author's Response: Thanks for pointing that out, you\'re not an idiot! I wondered about that too...and have cleared up the wording a little bit.\r\n\r\nThanks for reading and reviewing.

I just caught up with this story...and since you mentioned in your author's notes at the end that most people don't like death fics, I felt the need to comment.

While, as a whole, death fics aren't my first choice in fanfic reading, I do like them to an extent.  As you mentioned in your first chapter, it's an exploration of sorts into writing something different, more challenging.  Getting into someone's head, and attempting to keep them in character while they are going through something as life changing as losing a spouse is very challenging.  And very cathartic in a way, as well.

Everyone reacts differently to intense situations, and I think in writing a fic like this, we tend to project some of our own thoughts and feelings on the subject into the writing.   And as long as the main character stays "in character", I think that's very much ok.

I've enjoyed reading Pam's journey thus far, and hope to read more.  I applaud you for taking on such a difficult topic, and I'm glad to see you've kept up with it.  Well done!

Author's Response:

Thanks for your input! I agree with you....alot of people react differently and put their own twist on the situation. I'm not sure how Pam would really react, but if I found the love of my life and he died after only a short time of marriage, I would be the one to go hide in my room, etc. So, I guess this is about what I would do....but, I hope it translates for Pam well too.

Thank you for your comments! I appreciate it!

I liked this chapter...especially Pam's walk back to the house.  To me, it makes sense that she couldn't move the car...and it ties in with your last chapter about Pam not really being ready to let go.

And Michael...as socially inept as he is, I picture him being different in a situation like this.  Much like he was at the end of Business School with Pam, or Booze Cruise with Jim.  I imagine his compassion coming out, and that he'll be an unlikely source of strength for Pam (of course I could really be wrong, and you might just play him for comic relief, which would be ok too).  :)

Either way, I look forward to the end of the story.  You've done a great job, and I'm excited for more!

Author's Response:

Thanks! I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed this chapter. And, I totally agree. I think Mike will be a perfect source of comfort in this time...of course, he isnt perfect, so there's bound to be some awkward Michael moments.

Thanks for reading. I appreciate the review very much.

I take a moment and just look at him through my eyelashes.  He's wearing only a towel, wrapped low on his hips.  One long arm, fully extended, rests on the window frame as he leans slightly forward.  His hair's a tousled, wet mess, one leg is crossed over the other at the ankle.  The sheer, white curtain is ruffling softly over his left shoulder.  His right hand is wrapped around a coffee mug and as he bends a little to blow on his coffee, the light from the window highlights the curves and planes of his back, his spine, and my eye follows that line, starting at his neck where my lips have teased his soft skin, falling down between the slopes of his shoulders, then defying gravity to curve in at his waist, and finally pushing out at his hips and disappearing into the white terry cloth.  Like the Falls vanishing into spray, delicate, like the curtain flowing over his shoulder, strong, like the iron scrolls on the railing of our terrace, pliable, like the bristles of a brush loaded with paint.

This entire section (and I know I quoted a lot) is unbelievable.  I've probably read it about 3 or 4 times now, and I love it every single time.  The picture you paint with your words is fantastic, and I can very vividly see Jim.  Very well done.

I'm ashamed to admit that I think this is my first review for this story, and for that I apologize.  But I'm loving it, and I really liked this last chapter.  I can't wait to see how you wrap it all up.  Great job!

Author's Response:

Good grief, Laur, reading this gave me goosebumps.  To me, rereading is the best compliment, so WOW.  Thank you.  That whole passage...I fiddled with it almost endlessly and I could have written more (note to self:  write a oneshot about Jim's back), and it's grammatically WRONG and I just didn't care.  I wanted Pam to recognize the sublime in the ordinary again, and what better image than a nearly naked Jim?  Yeah, none better!

No apologies necessary whatsoever.  I'm so glad you've enjoyed this and I'm really looking forward to writing the epilogue.  This was the hard one (yep, yep, TWSS) and now it's all sweetness and light on the ride down.  Thank you so much for such an awesome review!!

The lover’s eye takes over and it’s function over form now, and I see strong hands, broad shoulders, a soft matting of hair in a line down his stomach and lower.  So long, I was blinded by the manners of a gentle man, a devilish twinkle, a schoolboy sweetness in unbuttoned collars and loosened ties.  Without knots and buttons and pleats, he’s leather-hard and masculine in the most elemental way.

This is one of the best descriptions I've ever read.  Simply amazing.  In fact, I'm sure I'll read it about 10 more times before all is said and done.

I liked this one shot a lot.  Some great imagery and you created with words something as stunning as Pam's artistic creation on Jim's back.  Great work, and I hope to read more from you soon!

Author's Response:

Wow, that does seem to be the passage that struck a chord with folks.  Is it because we all have a fascination with a naked Jim Halpert?  Hmmm....

Laur, thank you so much for such an awesome review.  Rereading is about the best compliment in the world to me.  It's always great to read what folks think about something you've written, but especially so with this piece because it's my first one in a long time and it didn't come easy.  TWSS.  Thank you for the generous feedback.
