What started as a single little one-shot of what may have happened after Stress Relief. (Jim was panicked, Pam was scared. They needed a place to feel safe.) This has now become a little series of vignettes I can't let go of.

1 I thought this was really sweet— and so realistic. While this episode always cracks me up, it’s easy to see how the adrenaline rush would end just to lead to a rush of emotions in regards to what could have possibly went wrong— thank God it didn’t. It almost makes you wonder why Phyllis was the only one hesitant about signing Dwight’s “statement of regret”. While your spicy scenes have been great, this was just as good— Jim taking care of his girl, and having a quiet night to reflect after all this undue stress… love that Jim can relax once he knows Pam is relaxed. Thanks for posting!!

I love your short sentence structure and your page breaks… just so perfect… like all of the things running through Jim and Pam’s minds at a thousand miles an hour at this incredible moment in their lives! You can just feel every ounce of happiness in their souls in the car ride home; can just feel Jim willing his energy through Pam’s belly to their “bundle of cells” to “grow little bit, grow”! I can also see them both thinking about going to the picnic being “both” but coming home being “all”.. what a crazy distinction!!! I love the distinct difference of him taking care of her in both stressful times (chapter 1) and joyous times (chapter 2) but still wanting to take care of her.
And what a sweet tribute to your dad.. how amazing to know how he reacted to the first idea of your being, too!!! Such pure and simple joy. Thanks for sharing something so person in this sweet Jam moment!

Your birthday gifts are delightful stories that we all can enjoy… and even though I missed Hello Daddy, beardy post finale daddy Jim is probably the only acceptable substitute, so thank you for that! Seems like Betsy and Gerald have a lovely guest room for the Jim Halpert family to visit… even though they too didn’t leave them alone— but good to see that they are still knocking. No one in that house needs to see Jim being daddy to Pam. I certainly hope that Nellie enjoys her night out too as I’m sure her sitter will be done after a night with the farting… poor Nellie!
I too love a Moscow Mule and will drink that at any bar… whether it’s named after Kevin or his cousin Post… good Lord. How did he ever survive in accounting?? I was waiting for Kevin to call them out on Jim being handsy with Pam and Pam trying to get a rise out of Jim (literally and figuratively, TWSS)… Im sure he’s picking up on what they’re putting down— but I’m also grateful he’s not being a creep about it either.

I’m glad Dwight had a new horse; 75% of one is just suboptimal, whether it’s a pet or critical Schrute Farms equipment. But what happened to Cece’s puppy? An emu?? That’s a fic in its own of Jam trying to explain to Cece why she can’t have an emu.. hopefully she is responsibly taking care of her parakeet, but at the very least it sounds like Pam’s slightly excited about it. Even if she and Jim are too busy flirting to learn critical parakeet tips from Dwight— but I too would be distracted by a beardy daddy Jim being naughty.

Hope that Pam plucks her panties out of the toilet and washes her hands very well after tossing them— because they don’t need the rumor of ruining Kevin’s bar’s plumbing on opening night— or do they?? Would be fitting after Halloween at Athleap in Jim’s office, though… I love anything and everything you do, whether it’s fit my birthday or someone else’s… you’re just the sweetest and so damn creative!

Author's Response: I am very glad it works well, especially for an experienced RN. I am very much Ella and I loved working with my RN colleagues. I collaborate and joined and we were always a great team. I wanted that conveyed. Doing my best with the specific medical stuff, able to describe what I would see as the social worker in the room but probably not as detailed as you would write :)And, dang straight - treat the staff well too. I have always been a 'bring snacks' kind of thank-er.I can't wait for you to be able to read what comes in the next chapters. It will be EXCELLENT for Pam and JAM as a whole.

1 Another great chapter. You are really making me want to get back into my own therapy— Maureen sounds great! And like the second therapist, it is difficult when they only have limited availability. I loved your interaction with Michael and his apology. I think that’s very much how Michael is… he doesn’t think… and while he isn’t entirely malicious in his comments, he also must be responsible for them too— so this was really great and heartfelt. I’m so glad that Jam is talking future and Pam feels relief from knowing that her tests were negative. Again, this is such a well done and sweet representation of Jam navigating this difficult situation… thanks for all the love and care you put into this! Can’t wait for more!!
Author's Response: Maureen & Gizmo are going to figure in a lot as we go on! Maureen, Rose and Ella from the hospital are all different aspects of my own professional self. There are more and more therapists openly interacting like Maureen... so while it isn't totally out of the realm for this to have been an interaction in mid-2000's, it is FAR more likely now (post-Pandemic).Michael being introspective was a hard one to write. I wanted it to sound believable and 'Michael' so I used the changes he demonstrated when Holly arrived, to be able to change his crass ways into more true jokes, and chose to use what happened with Pam to be that catalyst. The future things are just so exciting, and I cannot wait to share them all in this story!! The plans are going to blow YOUR socks off... LOL!
1 MrsK, you are just on fire lately!! This is just so excellent, even if it’s not my birthday gift! Also, happy birthday YB! You just dove right in, set up this scene filled with details and love and emotions and it was perfect! I love that even in this mundane busy world of two active children (maybe more, it is your AU!) and work and coaching soccer Jim is still absolutely distracted by his beautiful wife. Both physically and emotionally— and that’s why we fell in love with them. I totally see her doing this with Cece too— just screaming at the top of her lungs encouraging her! And that line— ‘she was nothing liked what he imagined the mother of his children to be— she was so much more.’ Girl! Come on! Loved it!

And what made this even more sad is that Jim wasn’t in Philly— he was in this room, he was in this scene, physically— so what a blow to realize his little family had gotten used to him NOT being their either emotionally or physically. I do love that he DOES recognize the signs of fatigue in her eyes, because I think in this moment, he could really go inside himself and make this about his sadness— but he is getting the moment to see how it’s affecting her too— and that it’s crucial to fix it. What a contrast from Soccer Mom! I’m sure this scene sobered Jim into realizing that he had to fix this immediately— and clearly he did. Thank God! Great angst without dialogue. So good lady!!!

I love your description of Jim and Pam's awkward first interaction--funny and sweet and Jim catching Pam looking back at him. SO normal and like real life! The perfect meet cute--and walking out of the store like they may never see each other again... even after their 27 second moment--so good!

I love your new take on Pam's tea in the form of a chai-- and I LOVE that Pam is going to have a lovely little chat with Jim as they sip their drinks and maybe fall in love. But so many questions!!!! 1 I loved this little story before our lovely day in London but after a few days traipsing through the city, this story just owns my heart! Such a character on it’s own— and I just have to believe that Pam and Jim/Duncan just belong together in this city! You’re doing it such justice!
Hmmm.. who is Duncan/Jim?? Aside from a huge fan of Pam, that is. I totally get JK vibes with the black mask and the baseball cap! I love that you just dove right into their connection, no beating around the bush, or waiting 3 years to hear Jim say, “alright, then, it’s a date!”
However… something tells me that Dunc—Jim— can afford this fancy bottle of champagne and is indeed not a penniless musician. But I love this idea of Pam not having any idea who he is— aside from simply this charming Jim— and that it seems like Jim (Duncan?) is ready for some of this genuine chemistry and interest Pam brings to their interactions.
And I know I say this every time but you do the sweetest job incorporating canon lines into new fic— “absolutely I do”, “I like cheesy”, “yeah, I think I am”, 27 seconds, and “I just couldn’t wait”. All swoon worthy, of course! I’m loving this bold art student Pam who feels the connection and just goes for the hand hold— because when you’re in London with this handsome, charming guy and connecting in a darling Italian restaurant in this romantic city, why wouldn’t you just dive right in? And it definitely gives Jim the courage to go for the kiss. I love the true city interruption of the peeing man because that’s just how it is! They’re clearly not as enthralled with Jim and Pam as they are with each other— nor is the person in queue who is delayed by Jim’s last romantic kiss for the evening. And Jim’s text?! Perfection. PERFECTION!!! I can’t wait either to see where this goes! Such a sweet story that is near abd dear after my visit! You’re the best!!!! Thanks for sharing these beautiful works friend!!

1 There’s little better than a good impromptu bullpen presentation, and this is no disappointment, especially with Michael and his pointer stick! Of course, it’s a very Katy-like breakup for Jim and Karen here, but nothing can stop Jam’s true love. Their champagne out the back door date is also very sweet and so them. I can just see them and Pam in her beautiful brown dress… such sweet images come to mind! I love the added humor at the end too with Dwangela! Great work! Can’t wait to read more of your writing!!

The “easy” option would be to have her cheat on him (and I’ve seen that done very well in other fics) but I don’t think she would, she’s pretty keen. I think someone is going to get hurt and there is no way around it…
