Ok, so I have to be honest: I have not been a big fan of the 55-word challenge in general.

Until now.

Just now.

With this kick-ass story. WELL DONE!!! TEN STARS, TEN STARS!!!! :-)

"Excuse me," Kevin said, his eyes moving between them. He obviously could feel the tension. "I'd like a grape soda."

Classic Kevin.

Nice job with the tension here. I'm enjoying this! -CH

Oh, so good! This is the kind of fanfic I've been waiting for all summer--a good AU with a twist and fabulously written characters.

You've got my interest, and I can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope I don't disappoint!

Wow.

I have loved this story from the beginning, and this chapter is no exception. I'm usually not a huge fan of "smuttier" stories (though fasterthansnake's "A Fool's Bargain" is the exception), but you handled this intimacy with such mastery and delicacy that I'm still in awe. I love, love, love how you detailed that kiss, something that could have been wasted or dismissed by another author; you gave a VERB a voice that was real, sexy, and honest, and that was such a treat to read.

So well done, well done. Four Dundies to you for this (and a few Stanley Nickels for good measure). I'm sure Philadelphia Health Department would disagree, but all the choices you made for this chapter were perfect. --CH

It’s familiar and foreign all at the same time and she hates herself because her first instinct isn’t to run.

I'm still loving this. I can't wait for more!!! -CH

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review. And I'm so glad you like that line. That's one that I actually went back and revised. Initially it read that her first instinct was to run. Something didn't seem right and I'm glad I changed it. Thanks again for your kind words!

Summary:

This is an idea I've had for a long time. It is inspired by the very end of the Six Feet Under series finale (hence the title), and it seems that the 55 word style would be perfect for it. Each chapter will focus on a different Office character. 20 chapters are planned.

I do not own these characters, and would not do this to them if I did. No copyright infringement intended.

Something about this line really got me: “I wanted to love you." I think it sums up the Jim/Karen relationship so beautifully, and you did a wonderful job rounding out her character. Good work! -CH

Author's Response: oh, thank you! in all honesty, i felt like i had to write something on karen\'s behalf; she was getting torn up! i\'m sure she was mad and i\'m sure it was ugly, but, for me, she deserved a little bit of grace.

SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

Welcome back, One Day. I have missed you so.

This is really solid, GMMBBG. I love the little changes you made, and the emotions really come full circle in this installment. I simply adore the fact that he can see she's disappointed, but still he just can't quite do it (TWSS). I also can't wait to see what happens at David Letterman's place. Will they see Paul Schaffer? Will they do a "Man on the Street" interview? Or will they have sex on Dave's lawn? All of these options are fine with me.

SHWOP--You slay me. And that's good. I love that you went with the "My Heart Will Go On" inspired moment; this kiss was perfect, and I absolutely adored every second of it in reading it through Jim's perspective. You did a brilliant job catching his flustered surprise and delicious job. I absolutely love this story, and I shall hate you forever if you take it away from me for that long again. ;-)

Keep it up, my friend!!!! --GMMBBG

Author's Response:

Oh friend, I'm so glad you liked it!  That kiss wouldn't have been nearly as good without your input (that sounds awkward doesn't it?)  Thanks for encouraging me to get back into this, GMMBBG!

Oh and this? You did a brilliant job catching his flustered surprise and delicious job That's what she said :D

ROCK ON, GodinthisChilis. I hold up my lighter (that is, I would if I had one, but using the cell phone instead is lame, so pretend there is a lighter) as I absorb the awesomeness of your writing. I'm loving these chapters, and I just can't wait for these two to close their laptops, take off their gloves, and do it all in person (not do it all, though that would be cool; I mean do it all as in say what they need to say, not do each other or...I'm saying a lot of things).

Keep it up, m'dear, and I'm already on tenterhooks for the next chapter!! -CH
