I thought this was a really interesting take on a possible future of this relationship. The roles the couple takes on and how difficult it can be. I liked Pam wondering if Jim was also getting used to things. For jim, it seems this is just the natural progression, but Pam always needs that extra time to adjust to the change and I thought you illustrated that well. 

Author's Response: i like that you mention roles - i think that's a huge part of what people use in their day-to-day dealings.  admittedly, this was an early fic of mine, but i had a blast working on it.  i just wanted to create something that showed their deep flaws and i hope this accomplished that.

I just got into this series of vignettes and they are just so lovely. It takes songfic to an entirely different level.

Oh and one edit you may need to make, from one DMB fan to another: The song in question is not "Crush", it's "Crash into Me" :) Crush is an entirely different but still wonderful DMB song.

I'm so very thrilled to see an update from you here. I truly adore this story and I was wondering where Pam and Jim would next go. I enjoyed this chapter and I liked their final, quiet moment of understanding in the middle of Rite Aid. I keep staring at the clock as their time winds down and thinking what could make the clock stop. I guess we'll see if it does or doesn't. Looking forward to it!

In dire need of an update. This and your other story "...accidental heartbreaks" are so well written and interesting and yes, in need of an update.

As someone who has been through all of that, I want to applaud this chapter and everything Pam wrote. I almost want to bookmark this for friends as I don't think i could put it all so concisely and precisely as you have done here. Really wonderful. And again, I'm enjoying the dynamic between Jim and Pam here and curious where it will all go.

I'm really enjoying this. I really like how you described the imapct of everything on Jim and I also liked how Pam held back offering herself up immediately to Jim. So very believable. I am looking forward to more!

I really adored this story. It had just the right note of sweetness and just genuine...love to it all. I can fully imagine the scene in the toy store. Your way with words really spun this all beautifully.

I've really been enjoying this story and I really love Pam's honesty in this chapter. The only thing I find lacking here is that... Well, that it's only Pam's confessional here. I thought we'd hear more from Jim. He has been brace, but he's had his cowardly moments. Karen being the biggest and Pam wasn't completely wrong in calling him on that. He waltzed back into her life, sure, but he brought Karen as a shield. He confessed his love to Pam, sure, but he did it while he had an escape plan too. Pam has definitely took her time to allow her character to be strong enough for Jim, but I don't think it was totally one-sided there. This, of course, shouldn't be all about blame, but Jim needs to own up to his own mistakes. I really hope in your final chapter, we can have some of this perspective. 

Author's Response: Albie, that\'s a good point (and one we\'ve discussed at length over on the TWoP boards) . . . but I\'ve never looked at Karen and Jim quite that way. (As a shield, per say). I think Jim was trying to move on, even though to us that seemed impossible. We see Karen as a shield because we knew it was doomed from the start, but in my mind, I don\'t think Jim saw her like that. He may have known he didn\'t love her, but . . . well, I don\'t think that he did it on purpose (but again, I\'m a Jim apologist -- it\'s just who I am). Anyway, I hope you\'re not too disappointed, but I don\'t think I\'ll be having Jim do a similar confession because I think he has been pretty brave, for the most part. He\'s made mistakes, absolutely, but if it weren\'t for his efforts, I don\'t think there\'d be an Jam. But it\'s an interesting perspective for another fic!
