Since I have nothing left to do after graduating from college, I have resorted to fanfiction. I am ashamed of myself (in the best possible way, of course).
I have not written fanfiction since my teenage years. So...if my stories do not please you, I apologize, and it's completely understandable. If they are awesome and you love them, great! :) I guess all those years of writing research papers have really paid off!
I like writing long things. I don't know why, I can't quite explain it. I'll set out to write something that's 5 chapters (tops) and it will turn into 15. When I tell a story...well, let's just say that I like to tell a story. :)

Author's Response: Ha, I really wasn't trying to be as ambitious as 11,000 words, it just happened. Without the framework of an episode, the first date will probably be 2-3 shorter chapters, instead of one mega-chapter. As for the Devil/Angel thoughts, the reason that I didn't have them reply immediately to Jim's words was because I wanted to emphasize Pam's shock, and also make it Pam's moment, not Angel or Devil's. That said, there will be plenty of them commenting on the words and the date in general coming up. Thank you for the review I Know This Much Is True.

I'm so glad to see that you finally updated (and I can see at 11000 words why it took you SO LONG to do so! You are far more ambitious with your chapter writing than I am).
I'm a little bummed that there wasn't more Devil/Angel thoughts during Jim's actual, "Are you free for dinner tonight?" but meh...I'm not complaining, and the chapter was still magnificent. :)

Author's Response: I almost didn't write this fic because I wanted to write a multi-chapter vignette-like story called "The DEFCON Is Rising", which would detail various meetings of the women and Michael. DEFCON Midnight was going to be the name of the last chapter. So I cannibalized that a little for that line, and I'm glad you liked it. I still might write the story, I enjoy ensemble/conversational pieces. Anyway, thank for your kind words and review I Know This Much Is True.

I'm happy to oblige! Actually, it was sort of a fluke that I wrote this with that song in mind because I just sort of started writing and then halfway through I heard that song again and realized that it was saying a lot of the same things I was saying, so yeah, after that I just wanted it to have the same feel as the song, but I didn't really want a "songfic" per se. So this is what came out.
Anyway, thanks for the review! I'm so glad I could give you your fix!

This chapter though (and every other one) have just been fabulous. And this one had some great laugh-out-loud moments for me:
"You didn't let Tuna do your butt, did you Karen?"
followed by
"You know, booty bump you, take the Hershey Highway... bring it in the backdo..."
and this: "His love, his concern, must be the one thing keeping him from boarding the express bus to Boner-town." just seemed like such an Andy-thought to me. I really loved it. :) ...I really love Andy.
I'll be looking forward to reading a sequel if you do indeed decide to write one. :D Awesome job!
