I had to write this based on what I was convinced was really happening/would happen on last night's episode. In the light of day, it's probably off base, but....
Oh, and obviously, parts of this are spoiler-ish from last night's episode.
I have decided to expand on the idea of Codename: Chicken Plate. This will be my take on the emails, phone calls and conversations we missed over the summer and for the first part of Season 3 (until Pam and Jim actually communicate themselves) My idea is that Jim knows exactly what happened between Pam and Roy and knows exactly what is going on in Pam's life right now even if WE don't see it.
Pam has a bit too much to drink at Jim’s BBQ and ends up being the last one to leave. JAM smut inspired by the deleted scenes from Email Surveillence.
So this started in my mind as a little one shot (cue mocking laughter). Of course it expanded to a little more. It's pure speculation on my part, and is probably quite off. :o)

Casino Night ended slightly differently, so Pam and Jim are still on friendly terms when he heads for Australia. She makes a point to keep him up to date with what's going on on the home front. It's another Stamford office friday night, and Josh is buying the first few rounds. Jim tags along and hopes to start building some new relationships. That turns out to be more true than he could have imagined.
Ryan finds an assortment of junk in Jim's desk. He lets Pam decide what to do with it.Okay, this is post Stamford (sort of) and is a little AU, given that we now know Jim and Pam have talked a little. It's a bit angsty, but I swear, I was absolutely seized by the urge to write this! It's based a little on some of the comments I read on Live Journal yesterday re: Jim as "a man with needs." Heh. That makes this sound as if it's going to be a pile of smut, and it's not. It'll just be a slightly different Jim - totally drunk!Jim.
Jonathan makes an appearance as well.
And for those of you who are concerned - remember, my fics always end with a happy Jim/Pam. :o) This one probably won't be as long as the others have been; I'm thinking it'll maybe be a two-parter.
