Maybe Karen majored in Political Science. I could see lessons learned on how to try and convince *cough* manipulate *cough* to her point of view could easily translate to a sales job.

Yup. Ryan was very much a “he has a business degree” hire. I wouldn’t doubt that Karen’s interview was similar to Michael’s. It was a courtesy. I think they would have seriously considered Jim.

Ryan obvs wasnt qualified but I took that as a commentary on business putting too much weight on degrees, assuming “well educated” people automatically make good managers when they often dont

So I can imagine in her interview it was maybe clear she was chasing the status of the job more than she was actually qualified, she’s not portrayed as a particularly skilled saleswoman ever
