Hiii - I'm only a few days into my new guiltiest pleasure, reading Jim/Pam fics, and I realllly love yours! They're making me wonder why I resisted Office fanfic for so long. This one would probably be my favourite - the last few chapters are just the most wonderful thing ever. So glad you're still writing more - I'll now sit back and eagerly await an update on "nearing the edge" :)

Welcome, moonmouse! (And hold onto your hat -- the Office fanfics are addictive, and there are some amazing writers on this site!) I'm glad you enjoyed this story; I had a great time writing it. My favorite stories to write are the ones that just take hold of me and will not let go, so I ended up eating, sleeping, breathing them for a few weeks/months. (I realize I just outed myself as the world's biggest nerd....lol.)

You are so sweet! :o) I'm very weird in that I love writing angst (and can prolong it for chapters upon chapters -- as some frustrated readers might tell you, lol), but while I also enjoy writing happily together Jim & Pam, I tend to get bored with that after a few chapters. ("Only" is a fic of mine that has tons of happy Jim and Pam, right up to the wedding.)

This chapter is amaaaazing. Just so hot, and emotional, and so full of what we hope Jim and Pam will be someday soon.
The following sections made me say "guh", and made my toes curl:
...he applied gentle pressure to one side of her neck with his thumb while at the same time languidly trailing his tongue down the other side.
She cried out when he began to move slowly, so he fumbled for one of her hands, clutching it tightly in his own as he felt himself slipping under
He'd drawn back to hold eye contact with her even as he moved inside her, their hands pressing tighter and tighter as the intensity mounted.
And I loved Pam saying his name just to hear what it would sound like to say it in that moment, and hen her saying his name for the other reason soon after.
And "This is really it". Perfect!
ooohhh, I love this.

I like how you made Pam hesitate about how far to go with it all, but being the one to back and finish it.
Also, the kitchen scene where any little thing caused them to make out? Awesome.

I'm really enjoying it so far. I especially liked the bit about Pam feeling like she didn't really "know" Roy after 10 years. I went outside to have a cigarette after reading this chapter and had to put it out half way because I was anxious to read on!

Okay, big swoon here. This last chapter had such a good rhythm and flow to it - really had the sense of an entire evening unfolding, and the tension/heat mounting. When she came back and just went for it, it really packed a visceral charge. (And I won't even go into how...uh, moving it was when he whispers 'come.') Especially loved that last bit of conversation - a nice, back to 'them' way to end it. I could go on, but it's late, I'm tired enough to be semi-coherent...so I'll stop here and just say - well played, girl7. Steam with heart (like this) is a beautiful thing.

I don't know if I have the words to express how wonderful I think this fic is. It is one of the only stories I've read where I can continuously picture Jim and Pam and hear Jim and Pam in my head throughout, without their voices changing into something unnervingly "off". Your lovely and shockingly real words are nothing short of breathtaking. I appreciate the effort and the oh-so evident talent that went into this thoughtful and absorbing story. Thank you.

That is such a compliment -- thank you! Whenever I write this particular moment (sad that I've written it so many times, eh?), I always try to imagine how it would really be in terms of the emotional implications -- and I think that they'd both just have to be freaked out by it. :o)

Well, my dear, this was SO worth the wait. I had this big silly grin on my face the whole time they were in the kitchen, being alternately cute and funny, and then serious and smoochy. Then, when she pulls him down on the floor? Whoa...( Although I KNEW that wouldn't be where they finally consummated things, please, this is a monumental moment, people...) I just KNEW she'd come back though, the whole inner monologue was perfect, this was IT, their time, and of course, she trusts Jim implicitly, so no fear...
And, honestly, the smut worked, awesomely, cause it's Jim and Pam. What can I say? We're hussies, and for a second there, we can pretend it's us instead of Pam. Hee...
So tell me, was MrGirl7 happy when you finished the wine and the story? Haha..

I'm thrilled to hear that a) it was worth the wait and b) that you had a huge grin as you read it. :o) Unfortunately (for Mr. Girl7), he has been sick and pitiful all weekend long. (Though he did just crack the funniest joke during Rome - a pivotal scene in which Cleopatra is literally throwing things at Antony -- very intense. Anyway, Mr. Girl7 all of a sudden said, "This is why we can't have nice things, Cleopatra!" I'm sorry - just had to share, because I'm still giggling.)

Wow, I loved this. For so many reasons, of course, but I particularly liked the many comparisons Pam made between being with Roy and being with Jim.

I'm really glad that you said that, because I know some readers are turned off by too much internal monologue - so I worried about whether or not to keep that in. But it was important to me to highlight the magnitude of what she was dealing with there, because I think it's hard for most of us to grasp the notion that she probably only has been with Roy and therefore would be a little uncertain about how to proceed with Jim -- or rather, when to proceed with Jim.
You're so great for being such a faithful reviewer, I swear. :o)
