Since you took time to review one of my stories, it's only fair to return the favor. And this one, while a little older I see, is nonetheless brilliant. I know that world gets thrown around to the point where it almost sounds cliche, but I think it applies in this case perfectly. You've captured Jim's POV wonderfully, and I'm always a sucker for "inner thoughts"-type of fics. Well done!
Author's Response: Hey thanks a lot! Much appreciated. I think there's a lot more to Karen that the show doesn't show us, and I for one will be sad when the inevitable crushing of her soul finally happens. (Maybe Andy will be there to comfort her?)

Wow. I really like this. Poor Karen. I like how you write Jim, too. Great job!

Well, we all know this is going to blow up in everyone's faces, but you've done some great work here exposing the why. Nicely done.

Very interesting look into Jim's head and heart as to why his "Yes" didn't end his relationship with Karen but instead lead to dialogue that actually made it stronger. Very well done.

I like it. Poor Jim. Poor Karen. Poor Pam. Those three are in a horrible cycle, no one happy.

I've been really struggling with Jim, both in my fic and in reality (to the extent there is a Jim in reality). I have such a hard time with making sense of his actions and bottled up emotiona, but your story really gives it a plausible male POV and it works. I also think that the imagery is beautiful about him laying in bed with Karen and the bit about her backstory makes her seem more rounded. I like how you said that the conversations humanized her to Jim, great word, I think that's what we miss with her, she is a very flat character on the show. Ok, I digress, welcome and great story.

Very true to character, to the point of making me want to smack Jim upside the head even more than usual. Sigh. Great job!

This is a really elegant piece. I love that Jim knows that he isn't in love with Karen in the same way, knows that he ought to be pursuing Pam but just can't.
My favorite thing about it, though, is how deftly you humanize Karen: We start to think about her the same way Jim does, and worry about the fall she's been set up for.
Jim had always been amazed at the contrast between the loud, assertive, awake Karen and the pliable, yielding lump of quietly tranquility that she became when sleep overtook her. That's just a really nice line.
Good work!
