This is my favorite chapter of the story. You write them so adorable together.

this is really great... i loved how you explained how "you were meant for me" became pam & roy's song!

Adorable and wonderful (as always). I like that Pam likes routine (because I do too) and I think it's very realistic that she could still be insecure about Karen even after all those years. Lovely chapter.
Author's Response: flamingos - I'm here checking stories and am so so sorry I didn't give you a proper thank you eons ago. Bad me! So happy you liked it!!

Poor Jim and Pam, their angsty past rearing its head years later. I guess this takes place about season 10? As usual you write their light banter perfectly, and the heavier stuff is on the mark here too. Well done.
Author's Response: LOL! Yeah. Season 10 sounds about right. And thank you. I'm very glad you liked it.

OMG *tear* I had never read this story before. I started it last night and finished this morning. I loved it and it was exactly what I needed as I go through JAM withdrawal! Thank you! This is how I hope they end up.
Author's Response:
You are very welcome Abigail. I'm glad my update got you to read! I hope they end up like this too.
Fingers crossed. :)

::sigh:: I loved this. That line about Janie needing to shake things up a bit because her wardrobe of onesies was a little played out totally cracked me up!!! And we must be on the same wavelength -- the chapter of BabyTalk that i'm working on gets at some of the "sacrifices" Jim and Pam make for one another too.
Author's Response: Well I'm glad to hear you're writing - same wavelength or not. Janie's cute - but I need to know what's going on in little Jilly's universe. So very glad you liked it. Thanks for the review.
Date: July 30, 2007 09:10 pm Title: In a universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, no matter how many lifetimes you live
"Whatever. Like I didn't hear you tell Jane the other day to "Make it work." "She needs to take more risks." Pam shrugs. "It's onesies all the time for her. She's totally in a fashion rut." I literally laughed out loud when I read that...such a great line. Well worth all the drama that followed where I was biting my lip worried for them. Glad they made it work at the end :o)
Author's Response: I am on the edge of my seat waiting for Project Runway to start. And I might have a crush on Tim Gunn - obviously not in the same way I have a crush on Jim Halpert but - you know what I'm saying. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks so much for the review.

Well you know I love it, just saying.
<> :-) This is completely awesome and I hope we see more from you soon....you've been absent too long.Author's Response:
You may have mentioned that.
But no pressure right? LOL! I'll see what I can do.
Date: July 30, 2007 03:15 pm Title: In a universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, no matter how many lifetimes you live
Long Long Long chapter title woman! LONG!
Oh, I am with Pam. I am all about routines. In fact, if there is no routine, it stresses me to no end. I don't do well with chaos and the unknown.
And stroller rides do get babies to sleep. I take my kiddo (aka neighbors kiddo) to the park every monday morning. I walk to the park at 9:30, we play until about 11, and on the walk back, he is asleep. I can even tell you where he falls asleep, but if I say "he falls asleep on the street right when you pass the twins house, near katie's old house" that would mean nothing to you. But that is the same why I describe it to my mom, and she knows EXACTLY where I am talking about.
But, unlike Jim, I really am the baby whisperer. Well, the all kids under the age of 11 whisperer. I have magical powers, and I don't doubt that. And neither do the kiddos parents. Which is why, I get to make a very nice living :).
(sorry, jim pam - couldn't say jam - baby fics can bring out the babysitter side of me really easily. specially ones like this that are the right balance of realism and sweetness.)
Jim, you need to play basketball. You aren't happy not doing it, and Jane can sense that. Babies aren't stupid. Jane will pick up on that she is the reason you are unhappy, and it will forever ruin your relationship. (pyschology break). Play ball!
Aww, Jane is almost two... children grow so fast in fanfic :) It seems like just five minutes ago she was 4 months old.
They need to be happy, but less guilty. That is my official recommendation. And... um, there should be more of this story, but isn't that a given?
Author's Response:
How do you know Jim isn't also a baby whisperer. I think he probably is - being seemingly perfect and all. ;)
This story skips ahead a little in time between chapters. If I wrote every minute of every day in between it'd be a really, really long story.
I think your recommendation is a good one. And I'll see what I can do. Thanks as always for your review. You crack me up. :)
Date: July 30, 2007 03:05 pm Title: People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.
Ah, yes, the reality that once you have a baby everything isn't just all happiness and sunshine; you ain weight, you are still crazy hormonal. all that jazz. (and i haven't even had kids)
I just read an article about mommy guilt today. So now, its like, um, connections!!!
Why did I read Disney Channel instead of Destiny's Child.... and the problem is that I probably have heard nearly all the Disney Channels Greatest Hits and maybe one or two of Destiny's Childs.
And that realization - that parents can leave their kids - is how I make a living. a very GOOD living sometimes :). (and by living i mean, i still live at home, and mommy pays for gas and food. but i have to spend money... sometimes. like i just had to buy my own mp3 player. i live a very spoiled life sometimes).
Author's Response: I promise you if they ever need a babysitter I'll make sure her name is Emily - or....Jessica. You choose which one you'd rather me use. :)
Date: July 30, 2007 02:51 pm Title: A happy family is but an earlier heaven
Yowza! I have three chapters to catch up on. A good day indeed.
I totally guessed she was pregnant when I read "when they found out three weeks ago" yay! jam babies. That sounds like babies covered in jam. That sounds really gross and disgusting. And also reminds me of Friends. I think I will stop picturing that and just read.
Yes, unfortionatly babies do mean sex. Which is a fact I try to keep very separate in my head for any set of parents including my own.
My mom knows something is up when I don't talk to her for an hour. Okay, maybe not that extreme. But me and my mom talk a thousand times a day, so yeah, I would never be able to keep a secret like that (which usually winds up being a bad good thing... that makes sense to me, trust me).
How does Jim always say the perfect thing. No real guy will ever measure up. I am doomed to a life of singledom just because of one man. one FICTIONAL man. That is all Jim's fault. Evil being. How I love him.
No no talk of sex. Not from parents. God, I am blushing reading that
But moons and stars sounds like a great nursey. I kind of want my room decorated like that... evne though I am not a baby.
You capture the doubt so well, and Jim is so perfect. And I am so happy. Its like yay
Author's Response:
Emily - your reviews are absolutely amazing. LOL! Yes. Babies are the result of sex. I'm glad we've gotten that out of the way. And yes. Jim is seemingly perfect. Damn him. Glad you liked it. :)
Date: July 30, 2007 02:49 pm Title: In a universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, no matter how many lifetimes you live
As usual, I love your Jim and Pam. It's also totally plausible that they'd still be carrying around some of what happened between them.
Author's Response: Thanks kells!! I think they would be too. Not too much of it - but enough that it might spring to mind from time to time. I think, hope, figure they have gotten past most of it by now though. So glad you liked it!!
Date: July 30, 2007 12:49 pm Title: I sing when I'm happy....
What the... I can't believe I haven't seen this series before! I just started reading fanfic after S3, but still... I'm so happy you posted an update or I might not have gotten a chance to read it. I seriously read all 7 chapters in the last hour (woo productive day at work!) and it was so amazingly good.
A little bit of angst, alot of sweetness, and it's just a perfect mix. Thanks for this story!
Author's Response: It's been a long time since I've posted anything. I've been hibernating a tad. :) Thanks so much for taking a look. I'm so very glad you liked it.
Date: July 30, 2007 12:14 pm Title: In a universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, no matter how many lifetimes you live
Okay, first of all, seeing a new fic from you just made me ridiculously happy -- honestly, it was like hearing that a new episode's airing after a hiatus. Second of all, this is so perfect, as usual. Their exchange about Janie's fashion rut and the onesies made me laugh right out loud, and the disagreement that followed it seemed really real. I love reading about them blissfully happy, but I also love reading those stories when they're navigating their way through the bumps in the road to happily ever after. You've captured their dynamic so beautifully here -- thanks for this.
...And I'm hoping this means you're back and will be posting more stuff soon!
Author's Response:
Oh stop it you!!!
I'm just dying for Project Runway to start. At first they were talking about Hell's Kitchen - but then I was inspired.
Soon - maybe. Just dusting off my keyboard at the moment. We shall see. Thank you so much for the review and the kind words over at TWoP - where I've been in deep lurk all summer. ;)
Date: July 30, 2007 11:33 am Title: In a universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, no matter how many lifetimes you live
I just love happy, future Jim and Pam, even if they're having slight issues. Really nice, as always!
Author's Response: So do I. So do I. :) Thanks so much for the review.
Date: July 30, 2007 11:18 am Title: In a universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, no matter how many lifetimes you live
"But with you... all I need is a box of paper clips and a yogurt lid." Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the magic of Jim & Pam. And why Jim & Karen was just 18 different kinds of wrong. Nicely done.
Author's Response:
I need to hear him say WHY it didn't work - even if I have to put the words in his mouth. LOL!
Thanks Ms. Hoo. I appreciate it.
Date: July 30, 2007 11:14 am Title: In a universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, no matter how many lifetimes you live
Ah, spaghetti...
As you know, I love these little snapshots of their everyday life - and I like that in this one you show that these kinds of issues rear their heads, even in a happy marriage - difference is the will to make it work (catch the Tim Gunn ref? What - not subtle?)
Another reason Jim has to start playing b-ball again: because then Pam can go watch him get all sweaty moving around the court and after they can...oh wait. I already wrote that story. Okay, let's play it your (far more mature) way - he needs to do it because he needs to maintain his own identify, apart from husband/father (doesn't mean he can't look cute in shorts while he's doing it though ;-) Loved this. Please write 234 more.
Author's Response:
Well. Yeah. Of course he does. I mean - Pam might be talking about him being selfless but don't think for a sec she doesn't have an ulterior motive. ;)
234? OK. If I must. :)

I like your explanation of Pam and Roy's "song." I remember thinking that it didn't seem appropriate when I watched that episode. Sweet story. Looking forward to reading the rest.
Author's Response: Yeah I could not understand it - and figured that Roy being clueless was as good an explnation as any. So glad you liked it.
Date: July 30, 2007 11:03 am Title: In a universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, no matter how many lifetimes you live
Ahh. The tensions that stay, the connection that overcomes them. Also, babies! This is good in a way that makes my soul happy. Not everything is always sunshine and roses - but I liked the idea of an argument being about how much they cared - rather than how much they didn't - know what I mean? I guess you do - since you liked it. LOL! Thanks Lis!
Author's Response:
Date: July 30, 2007 11:03 am Title: In a universe of ambiguity, this kind of certainty comes only once, no matter how many lifetimes you live
Jim should go play basketball, dammit! Honestly, it's selfish of him to deprive himself of stuff like that - he's got to remember who he is as an individual! I like the inversion and having a typically "mom" problem fall on the father.
And I was just wondering if you were taking the summer off from writing when I got the next chapter notice in my email. Yay!
Author's Response:
HE SHOULD. LOL!
Nope not taking the summer off - just being lazy and unmotivated. This one went a lot differently than I intended but I'm glad you liked the result. :) Thank you as always for the lovely review.
Date: May 21, 2007 08:33 pm Title: People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.
Dammit, now I'm dropping tears all over the keyboard. Way to hit all my Mommy Buttons! Of course at the beginning of the story I was just worried about how old Janie was, because, you know, you can't do anything for 6 weeks. But four months? Yikes. Excellent portrayal of good ol' post-partum insanity. You've either got some great resources to interview or else you've got some 'splainin' to do!
Author's Response:
I have excellent resources. ;) And it's been 4 mo. but it's not been 4 months since they've been "together" just 4 (or more) months since it's been anything to write home about.
And now that I've revealed just how much I think about the private lives of two fictional characters I'm gonna go. :)
Thanks as always for the sweet review!
Date: May 19, 2007 12:51 pm Title: People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.
Sigh...I love seeing them in a 'real' relationship and they have troubles too. (And love that they were going to Kelly & Ryan's wedding). Just lovely.
Author's Response: Do you think Ryan and Kelly will ever find their way back to each other? I'm not so sure now - so this whole thing might be far more AU that I thought. LOL! Glad you enjoyed it!
Date: May 19, 2007 12:02 pm Title: People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.
Aw, so sweet. Their difficulties with new parenthood is very believable, and is nicely balanced with them seeming to realize that it's all okay, and their wonderment that they're responsible for bringing their little girl into the world :)
Author's Response: Thanks Semby - you've touched upon exactly what I was hoping to portray. I'm so glad you liked it!
Date: May 16, 2007 01:12 pm Title: People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.
:::sigh::: you just made my lunch break so much more enjoyable than this Ceasar salad did. Your Janie sounds adorable by the way. Jim calling her "prettiness" made me melt. Love, love, love, this story and I'm glad you changed the name because I was thinking that "spring cleaning" might mean it can only be written in the spring...now you can continue it indefinitely...MUCH more like it! Thanks Hugs!!!
Author's Response:
Awww. So glad to be of service. I loved that part too. Indefinitely huh? Jim and Pam sitting in rocking chairs with their grandkids??
Not out of the question. ;)
Date: May 16, 2007 09:56 am Title: People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.
I think you've uncovered something fundamentally real about Pam- how her self-doubt is all mixed up with some innocent pride in her appearance. Jim continues to be a prince among men, and the dueling grandmas are fabulous. Love!
Author's Response:
Poor poor Pam. Jim better be nice to her tomorrow or I swear to God....
So glad you liked it!!!
