That was really good. Her toast was SO truthful. Just wish she hadn't hit her damn head. It was starting to get good. ;-)
I trust you to know what to do with these crazy kids!!!

I just really love this story. The way you write Pam and Jim, you really make their emotions so palpable. This line in particular I just love:
"She lay down on the bed in the fetal position and closed her eyes, the lump generating a dull ache in her skull, and his kisses generating a dull ache in her stomach."
On a different note, every time I read this story, I get Daughters by John Mayer stuck in my head all. day. long.

Aaah, this is so gooood! I have tears in my eyes. Pam's toast to Jim was so painful, and I love the way you handled their confrontation afterward-- Jim finally realized what she'd been feeling, why she was so upset. I can't wait for more!

Amazing, amazing depiction of Pam and Jim here. It took me two read throughs to review and even now I'm not sure I can express how fabulous I think this is. I simply cannot wait to see what comes next.
Author's Response: wow thank you!!! Hopefully the next chapter won't take as long. It's already in the works.

That was the best toast I have ever heard...
I hope there will be eventually smut
but if there isn't, that's ok too
because this is a wonderful story...
Author's Response: lol oh there'll be smut. You just don't know me well enough yet ;-)

a-mazing. as usual! i love how her mom all of a sudden realizes that she's interrupted something. and why does pam beesley always have to be drunk to have a moment with jim??? anyway i love this story!!! thanks for another great chapter. you just ended it a few minutes too soon ;) can't wait to see what happens next.
Author's Response: thanks! don't worry, they'll get it together. I promise.

Your last paragraph is just amazing. Simply flooring. "and the sun sighed to them.... this was not darkness" that was just immensely powerful. And also once again I love how you make Pam make sense. Like her whole personal life, how she explains to Jim why she was with Roy, how that connects to her father. You broke my heart along with Jim’s when she goes on about how he sometimes looks at her the same as her dad. You amaze me you do. So good. I gush.

I just found this story (recced on TWoP), and I'm so glad. This is absolutely incredible - beautiful, knowing, real, detailed, insightful, and so much more... You're breaking my heart and I love you for it. There's no easy way out, is there?
Author's Response: lol I'm finding that as I keep writing. I def didn't plan for this fic to exceed 10 chapters, but it has a mind of its own. Glad you found it and thanks for reading! Keep reviewing please!

Wow.
This story is just so different I keep expecting things to happen the way they do in pretty much every other fanfic. You really treat these two as normal, real people. Beautifully normal. I just love that you aren't tying things up neatly and quickly. You're really giving me some wonderful insight (I think) into what's going on in their heads and hearts. It really isn't just "Those two need to get a room already."
“You look at me like you’re so confused that I even opened my mouth…”
I know that look of his. You really nailed it. I cannot wait to see more of this and I am more than willing to wait while you unpack dishes or towels or whatever if it helps you keep this as awesome as it already has been. Definitely worth the waiting.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your compliments. That look is what inspired me to write this fic in the first place! I think it's just so heart-breaking everytime he does it and I wanted to try to express it in words. I'm so glad you're enjoying it, and thanks for your patience while I unpack ;-) Keep me posted on your thoughts on any new chapters I muster up.

Loved it so much! This chapter was so beautiful. I love how we see things from Jim's perspective and he's an outsider with the family and so confused and unsure of himself but just so present for Pam. And don't worry, it was definitely worth the wait!

I just discovered this story today, and I love it.
I love this chapter the most- Pam finally breaking down to Jim and him finally able to comfort her.
And I'm such a sucker for stories where two characters sleep together in the same bed as friends, but of course, they end up sleeping all wrapped up in each other because there's so much more between them.
I can't wait for more!
Author's Response: lol I'm a sucker for that too!! idk how often it happens that way in real life, but I don't really care cause I just like the idea of it ;-) Thanks for reading!! I'm glad you enjoyed it so far. Keep me posted.

Guh. You have killed me with Pam's teary explanation, and with this line:
maybe the night was just another way for him to run from her
Pam's explanation of her father's advice ("do what makes sense first…and do what feels right after, if there’s time) and how that led to her staying with Roy was so believable. Someone like Pam's dad wouldn't have time for nonsense like "true love". How sad.
Those last two paragraphs were so intense and so...I don't know, worthy of what it *should* take for Jim and Pam to finally come together after all the hurt they've done to each other, knowingly and unknowingly.
Just, guh. Well done. Now I'll be on the edge of my seat, waiting to see where these two go from here.
Author's Response:
Agreed! I think Jim and Pam need to help each other out instead of...idk...not helping each other out. It just turned out that in this story the helping is slow and careful. I'm really enjoying the journey and hopefully it'll be worth the care. ;-) thanks for the review.

I am just loving this whole story. It feels so sad and sweet and real. I always look forward to the next chapter.

Definately worth the wait. This story balances humor and deep, intense emotions so well. Pam's confession is so vulnerable and necessary, and Jim's confusion but his willingness to just be there...so real. Love!
She laughed in that way that girls do when nothing was funny…trying to cut the tension with a plastic knife

OK. No fair making me cry in the morning. This story is just really real. That sounds too simple - but you've captured so much that's accurate about a time like this.
The relationships between a father and his daughter, how Jim would absolutely be there for Pam at a time like this - even the way things are now - perfectly real. The way she only lets him in at night and how confused he is by it. So much to love.
I also adore your style of writing. It's wordy in the best of ways, like you picked each one carefully.
Please keep going.

Great story, well written but... the uh logistics of male anatomy simply don't work that way.. lets just say there is zero chance Jim would be able to fall asleep like that. None. Trust me :p
Author's Response: lol let a girl have romantic thoughts, ok? ;-)
Date: May 03, 2007 01:24 am Title: Time of Day
There is so much amazing detail and imagery here that I'm not going to even begin to point it all out. Just know that this is an absolutely beautiful chapter. You have their relationship down to a science and I can't wait to see what you have coming for us next!
Date: May 03, 2007 12:04 am Title: Time of Day
That was SO good. Truly well done.
Both Jim and Pam's thoughts as they lie together are so nice, and so in character. And your creation of Pam's relationship with her dad is so great because it explains so much about her personality and relationships.
I am so enjoying this, but feel like I am reading it all disjointedly (my fault), so I am really looking forward to sitting down one day soon and reading it all the way through (thus far) and reveiwing properly (and coherently). Can't wait for an update. Really beautiful!

THIS....It just might be my favorite thing EVER. I am SO tired right now, but SO glad I read this before going to bed. Every sentence is just so well crafted and woven together to just paint this achingly beautiful story. The picture they made just sitting on those swings...I mean WOW, that's like a scene from a movie...I can see that on the bigscreen...funeral black on swings...there's just something so ironic and poignant and beautiful about that. You should be so proud of this story and this chapter in particular.

Just truly beautiful. I loved all your descriptions of their nights together but I especially loved Pam's confessional to Jim and the similarities she sees of her father in Jim.
Very much worth the wait.
Author's Response: thanks so much
Date: May 02, 2007 09:57 pm Title: Time of Day
No, definitely worth the wait. I love that they're sleeping together--just sleeping, for now. I'm sure it does happen, but I can never buy when people use sex as a tool for dealing with grief. I don't think Jim and Pam would do that, anyway. And that's why I'm kind of glad that Pam didn't have a great relationship with her dad in this story, because when she and Jim have sex, it'll be because they finally realized that they need to, not because Pam needs someone to help her through her grief.
Well, that was rambling, huh? :)
Author's Response:
exactly! It always makes me sad if their relationship is consummated because of grief. I'd rather have the grief make them realize things, and consummate later ;-)

I'm just blown away by how well-written this is. I am loving this story and how you chose to make Pam's dad a hardass. That would surely explain a lot about her life with Roy.
Author's Response: lol I found myself watching the show and thinking "Why does she keep going back to ROY?!" This was just one thought. He might remind her or her dad, and she might have needed her dad's approval and never really gotten it. Thanks for the review, sorry to ramble in reply ;-)
Date: May 02, 2007 09:30 pm Title: Time of Day
Wow that just broke my heart - don't wait too long to put up some more!
Author's Response: I'll try not to ;-)
