Whoa. Interesting choices here! First, I love the image of Pam torturing herself with rom coms during the post-Casino Night summer, because that just feels... very Pam. But you also took this in a way different direction than I thought you would by having Pam see herself in Kimmi, the one who is going to "win" because she *is* his true love - especially at this point in the story where Pam is starting to fight for herself more. It's a fun way of building on Karen and Pam's opposing advice to Michael about Jan.
Also, Kelly getting serious about the Dylan McDermott/Dermot Mulrooney confusion is perfectly Kelly.
Author's Response:
This one was super fun. And I really enjoyed threading Kelly in here (because she’s describing herself and Ryan, too!). She’s like a Greek Chorus of obliviousness.
This was fun to re-read! Thank you. I’ll glad you enjoyed it.

I read fanfic in my free (lonely) times, Pam. It is like picking scabs. Fun analogy.
Okay, I never thought of that movie like that and twisting it with something like Jim/Pam/Karen dynamic. Of course, I know I saw TO in everything... heck, still do, so really, seeing it in a movie, not that surprising.
Author's Response: Yes, I see them everywhere, too, still. So glad you found this old thing- I found it fun to write, way back when.

Oh, wow, I love this and all the underlying meaning and the different ways they both look at the same movie and the same characters/relationships. Very clever!
Author's Response: Thank you! It was fun to write. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

hehe.. i like this... a lot. and i haven't seen the movie (i know, what kind of girl am i?), but i do know what happens, and that's fricking awesome.
Author's Response: Oooh, thanks! Wow, I'm so impressed that you got something out of this story without being familiar with the movie. Which, by the way, you should watch sometime. It's not the be-all, end-all of romcoms, but it is pretty cute. Thanks again!

Excellent.

The great thing about this is the subtext between Pam and Karen. Just like at the mall, discussing Michael Scott's and Jan's relationship, the end up at the same place from different directions. I think they truly would be friends if it weren't for that whole pesky Jim thing. Hee!
Author's Response: Yep, but that Jim guy is pretty tall to completely overlook. Thank you so much!!!

Cute. I liked the way you used My Best Friend's Wedding to parallel thier situations, and esp. the way Karen and Pam saw it differently.
Author's Response: Thank you! I think they're just different and will probably see most things differently. Glad you enjoyed!

Ha-- I love My Best Friend's Wedding. This is really cute.
Author's Response: Thanks! I like it myself (the movie, that is! Ha!)

Oh, if only GD would gift Karen with that much sense. You give me reasons to keep hoping, nqllisi - thanks!
Author's Response: There is hope! Don't give up! And if our hope proves in vain...there's always fic! (thanks Moxie!)

AH! I confuse those guys all the time, too! HA! (And it was Dylan McDermott who married Julia Roberts in 'Steel Magnolias', to complete the cycle.
PLEASE let Karen be Julia Roberts! I'm losing sleep over this! Great little Karen/Kelly/Pam vignette, BTW
Author's Response: Thanks! Those two confuse the heck out of me. I enjoyed putting these three girls in a room and letting them talk. Glad you enjoyed!

First, so happy I'm not the only one who suffers from Dermot Mulroney/Dylan McDermott confusion. How clever is this? Each of their interpretations of the movie is spot on wrt their situations with Jim. And Kelly's commentary added the perfect touch. Great last line too!
Author's Response: I can never remember which guy goes with which name! Thank you so much!

I love it, did you watch this movie this weekend too? I confess that I did, Sunday I think. Oh well, I love that as they leave they both think they are the Julia character. And great line about Pam asking Oscar to dance!
Author's Response: I didn't see it- but that's so funny that it was just on! Thanks for the love!

Wow...way to tie in the movie. I was getting a little scared there when Pam was first talking but then she made up for it. Yay! for Karen being Julia Roberts!
Author's Response: Thanks- I was struck by the parallel. Glad you enjoyed!
