Really great job here. I love how you incorporate the deleted scene from Booze Cruise. I always thought that scene makes more sense why he abruptly breaks up with Katy. You also did a great job of navigating the uncomfortable moments in their discussion. It felt very realistic.

Thanks so much. You know, I watched the show from season one, the very beginning (thanks to my husband), but didn't get truly fascinated (read: obsessed) by it until the Booze Cruise episode. I didn't breathe for the last ten minutes of Casino Night -- was just too shocked, really, to even react. But when I got the DVD and saw that deleted scene from the Booze Cruise episode, I just burst into tears at the look on his face. I really, really wish they hadn't cut it (though I completely understand why they did - after all, it is a comedy).
But that moment is, in my opinion, one of Jim's most defining moments as a character. All this rambling to say that I'm really glad it resonated for you here -- and glad to hear that you enjoyed the chapter in total. As I mentioned in a previous response, I've been sitting on this chapter for quite some time because I just couldn't get it "right." I finally posted it tonight (even though I had reservations) because I've started working on something new, so it's really, really thrilling to get positive feedback on it.

I posted it tonight less because I was satisfied with it than that I worried I'd never post it if I kept fiddling with it. :o) So it's really nice to hear you call it the best chapter ever -- thanks for that!

You are such a magnificent writer! I'm always amazed at how beautiful your prose is and how much it enhances the already enjoyable subject matter. This sentence, "they were shattering the last vestiges of the carefully constructed facade they'd hid behind for such a long time" is the perfect summation of this chapter in a story full of shattering facades. Amazing.

Hee - love your nod to Kevin. :o) I'm really glad you described Pam as "lost" in him -- normally I wouldn't go for that type of feel (too much critical thinking can wreak havoc on one's romantic streak, LOL), but in this case, I think it's such a good thing -- because she spent so much time running from him that it'd be about damned time for her to just let go completely.

Hee -- the next chapter isn't smutty per se, but I haven't figured out yet how far to take this. (Ur....) I'm working on something entirely new right now, and it's kind of monopolozing my attention. That said, I'd always envisioned finishing this one off with a Talking Head the following Monday -- but I'm afraid that if I do that, I'll feel compelled to stretch it out to cover all their monumental "firsts." Hee. So I guess I'll just have to see....

Moxie, I must tell you: When we went on vacation, I happened to be taking pictures of the gorgeous California cliffs at the beach when this adorable little squirrel came marching up (swear to god). So of course I instantly got a picture of him -- and it is now framed on my kitchen counter!! I had to finally register just so I could write a review for this chapter.
This was absolutely amazing. It was incredibly hot but also incredibly emotional -- which is sooo much better. You got their characters exactly right, and it made their interactions even hotter. Their chemistry and intensity are captured perfectly. I can't even express how good this is. Definitely my favourite fic.
