Ok, I'm, like, a professional lurker. I hardly ever speak up anywhere, but I registered here so I could tell y'all that this is by far the best "first date" fic I've read yet. Seriously, it's amazing. It rings so true.
I'm of the firm belief that Jim and Pam have a while yet to go before they get their happily ever after. You just don't hurt people the way they've been hurting each other for years and get to have it all wiped away with a yogurt medal. But I also think that even THEY think this is the end and everything's going to be good now. They're both in for a shock when they find out how much work they really have left to do.
The two of you did an excellent job showing that. Really just wonderful. I wish I had more actual feedback to give you, but it's just going to be a lovefest for a while. I hope you're ok with that.
Also, one of my biggest pet peeves in Office fic is people who make Jim listen to music he just wouldn't listen to. Thank you for not doing that. It's really irritating.
And I, too, am about to live in the Austin area again. So, yay for that! :)Author's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to register so you could leave such a sweet comment. We're really honored that you'd go to so much trouble. I was just a lurker until we posted this, too, so lurkers unite!

Wow. I really, really, really, enjoyed this. It was heartfelt and it was FUNNY, which is difficult to juggle. When that dinner went off the rails I was like "NOOOOO!!!" I fet so bad that it went that way, I was so invested in it. Really good. And nailing dead squirrels to the door and stomping on baby birds? My new hobbies. Thanks.
Author's Response: Just don't tell the Humane Society that you got the idea for your new hobbies from us. ;) Glad you enjoyed it! The funny parts were far and away the hardest to write, so I'm glad you actually found them, you know, funny. It's always hard to tell when you're writing if something's actually funny on paper or just funny in your own head.

So I just finished reading the whole story, with every intention of leaving reviews along the way, but was so engrossed that before I knew it I was here at the end! So, forgive me if I just lump everything together into one review right here, okay?
The first thing I have to say is how much I admire your bravery in letting Pam and Jim sweat a little bit--more than a little bit, actually--before having that "perfect" date. I loved how Jim's plans so quickly fell apart and even how awfully the date ended. It was a bold move, and I applaud you for that.
I also am a sucker for fics that include the camera crew as characters. I wish more people would include them, and you did a great job at giving them a life of their own.
Excellent work with the different characterizations, from Karen to Michael to Dwight. You captured their voices such that they sounded natural and real.
Overall, there are too many good things to say about this fic to cram into one little review! It was just great. :)
Author's Response: Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments! It's a lot of fun writing about the camera crew--it really adds another dimension to a scene to explore the characters' feelings about being on camera.

Great fic. I'm glad to see a fic where the date actually goes bad and isn't a fluff-fest. Keep it up.
Author's Response: I don't think I could write a fluff-fest if I tried. All my fics seem to turn out sort of sad and melancholy, even when, like this one, they don't start out that way. I guess I just love torturing the characters! Glad you enjoyed it.

Because I’ve been meaning to see it and, you know, I’ve got half a bag of flour that I don’t understand in my cabinet now, so—
I especially liked that line. Nice work!
Author's Response: That line was one of austin360's many inspirations. As soon as she sent it to me I fell in love with it. So glad you enjoyed it!

So well done and so realistic. Those two have a lot to deal with, and I think this is completely plausible. Nice work!
Author's Response: Thanks so much!

This story is so far past perfect. It's amazing. It's a word better than perfect. It's awesome. It's incredible. It's written so well, too! You did what's hardest to do in fanfictions, and that's capture the characters. Even the best writers can still lose the character because someone else invented them. You got them dead on, though. It's great. It's really, really great.
And this story is so funny, and sad, and it's made me so giddy, and it's made me laugh, and it's made me want to cry. Just... perfect. I don't know. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Author's Response: Wow, thanks so much for all the sweet comments! You really made our day!

I love a good IM chat between these two... and this one is perfection. Too cute. Nice work.
Author's Response: Thanks very much!

Guh. wonderful. You scared me though, I was worried they wouldn't fix anything. *sigh* thank God.
Hey Austin360, we should chat. I live in downtown Austin...gotta love this place :)
Author's Response: No need for fear, we'd never leave poor Jim and Pam broken. :) Glad you enjoyed it!

Oh, and I'd like to just mention that I didn't read the other reviews before I made mine...we all thought the characters were "spot on." hehehe

Love this story. Love it. I think I had heart palpatations through the entire thing. Well well well done!!!!
Author's Response: Awww, thank you!

Oh my gosh! The characterization was spot on! I loved the bits with the other characters as well. The dialogue seemed true as well.
I favorited this, just so I can read it again and again. It's one of the closest to the show stories I've read.
Author's Response: That's really sweet! Thanks so much!

I just love this whole story. I'm hooked! Keep writing, please!
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!

I loved this story! I'm glad that some of the resentment and misunderstanding of the previous year came into play, because how can it not? They have to still be annoyed with each other on some level... You can't really brush that away in one fell swoop. So yay for realistic and yet sweet first date fic. Plus, so much awesome Michael and Dwight. I loves me some Michael. :)
Author's Response: Wow, thanks! I've wanted to shake both Jim and Pam so much this season and ask them what the hell they're thinking, so we took out a lot of our frustrations here. I had no idea how strongly I still felt about The Merger. :) Thanks for your sweet comments!

Wow. This is so amazing. I absolutely loved it. Everything! It was great how you named the director of the documentary Ken and the camera man Randall, just like on the real show. So great!
Author's Response: Hee, I'm glad you noticed our homage to the crew in the names. And thanks for the wonderful feedback.
Date: July 05, 2007 08:45 pm Title: Love Will Come Through
Hee. The IM conversation was very funny, but my favourite line had to be: "Now she pretty much just gets IMs from Michael, who seems to view it primarily as a medium for telling knock knock jokes." That's just so perfectly Michael. Well done! :)
Author's Response: Thanks so much!

This was a Pizza Hut! Now it's all covered with daisies!
I like this story so far.
Author's Response: I LOVE that song and I've been wanting to name a fic after it for a long time, so I was excited that it seemed to fit so well for this chapter. Glad you're enjoying it.

ah I love it you guys! Stranger Than Fiction references, the awkward first date, and the bad first date but ends well. Your characters are so spot on and you just hit this one out of the park! Great job!
Author's Response: That's really sweet. Thank you!

*sniffle* Just favorited this. Beautifully well-written story. So glad I could read it through beginning to end. Great job with all the characters and a totally plausible storyline.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

This was such a wonderful story. The voices were so spot on and this is a very real course of events that I could definitely see happening. Fantastic job.
Author's Response: Yay, I'm glad you liked it!

I just read the whole thing and I really loved this. It was different and believable and just perfect. Great job!
Author's Response: Thanks so much! It was my first foray into The Office fic so I'm glad I didn't screw it up.

I read this at LJ and thought it was terrific (even rec'd it at TWoP earlier this evening,) so glad you posted it here too. Perfect character voices - not only Pam and Jim, but the ensemble too. And definitely one of the more believable first date fics I've read. Felt very fresh too - funny and poignant and very real. Really a great read.
Author's Response: I'm really glad you liked it! And thanks for the rec at TWOP--it really made our night!

I read this on LJ originally (twenty minutes ago actually) so it's nice that it's posted here so I can favorite it, heh.
But what a stunningly beautiful story. A thrill to read from beginning to end, and I love that you chose to pave a different road for the typical first date fics. Awesome job, throughly recommended to anyone that reads in this fandom.
Author's Response: Wow, thanks so much!
