Eeeeee!
Author's Response:
Eeeeee is good, right? It's good? ;)
I'm glad you liked this, pencilskirt. I always felt like Pam should have made some little acknowledgment at the time. She kind of wimped out with the "I thought you did." It wouldn't have been an enormous leap to have said a little something like this.
Thanks for reading and reviewing! :)

Lovely. I'm upset with myself for not having read this sooner. Wonderful work, really, TLK. I love your style.
--Never Acquiesce, CH
Author's Response:
Thanks so much, CH. It's so sweet of you; you've put a big smile on my face. :) (It's bigger than that little teeny smile I just typed, though.)
The video was really neat. Can you believe I've never seen Les Miz? True.
Thanks so much for reading and reviewing, Becky215! It helps. ;)

Oh, if only!
Author's Response: It would have saved us a lot of angst, right? And we could have had "Pam's Wedding" instead of "Phyllis' Wedding." Ah, well, hopefully season 4 will have left all that stuff behind!

Hey, I was just backing up to check out your recent stuff. I've not been able to read everything I would like lately, and now I'm catching up. This is great...and I wish it had gone like this too.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for reviewing! It's really nice of you to come catch up. I think you updated recently also; it's on my list to check it out! Scottsdale keeps calling this summer...

This was so cute, totally loved the last line!!
Author's Response:
Thanks, kaystar! Any line that involves Pam dumping Roy is ultimately a good line, right? (Well not short-term for Roy, but...).
Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Think of all the hours and hours and hours of angst that could have been avoided if this really happened. On the other hand, it seems like most fic thrives on angst. Therefore, if you remove angst, you removed lots and lots of fic. Good one Kev, you've completely invalidated the existence of most of the writers here. All this time I've spent trying to come up with relavent, helpful, even witty reviews was completly useless too. Now I'm just trying to make my review longer than your story.
No really, this was great. You should go on vacation more if this is what you bring back. Awesome story.
Author's Response: I didn't actually write this one on vacation; I wrote it quickly last night. 55 words makes for the quickest fic ever! Hopefully, I'll get to typing in (and fixing) some of the stuff I wrote on vacation soon.
I'm glad you liked this; thanks so much for reviewing.

Wheee! I would have loved to see that. You apcked a lot in to 55 words, nice job!!
Author's Response: Every time I see that scene, I want it to go this way. At least to have my first line be Pam's first line, no matter how it went after that! Strangely, the scene plays the same way every time. I think my DVD needs fixing.
The 55 words thing is kind of fun. You can't obsess too long over only 55 words, nor is there much space for plot, setting, description, if you have dialogue! It sure makes writing simpler.
I'm so glad you liked it; thanks so much for reviewing!

TLK, that was exactly how I wished it gone too. I'm hoping the writers move their relationship along quickly with only a few bumps in the road. A little angst is always good, but not another two + years worth.
Author's Response: I think our wishes will be granted in Season 4. They'll bring back the good S2 Jim and Pam - pranking, giggling and making life in The Office with the crazy inappropriate boss bearable for each other. We had little bits of angst in Seasons 1 and 2, and then WAY more than our quota in Season 3. Ramp up angst elsewhere, guys. Jim and Pam are due some domestic bliss.
Thanks for reviewing, macolly!
Hey, I got reservations for the Scranton Hilton for October. I'm assuming I'll see you there?

Awwwwww. Heee! This is...I'm incoherent. I love it!
Author's Response:
Thanks, lis! I'm so glad you loved it. Pull yourself together before you have to communicate with anyone else, though. They won't be impressed by incoherency!
Thanks so much for reviewing.

Ah, how simple it could have been...this was like psychotherapy (in 55 words) to recover from the endurance test/obstacle course otherwise known as Season 3. I feel better now. Thanks.
Author's Response:
You're welcome, colette. I'd ask "and how do you feel about that", but you already answered. Perhaps we should get to the part about blaming our mothers. Or Greg Daniels' mother. Nah. Let's just be thankful that they're going on a date!
Thanks for reviewing!

I want you to be a writer on the show. Yep. None of this beating around the bush nonsense.. it's overrated.
Author's Response:
Oh, but if I were a writer on the show, everyone would have been happy in the pilot, and Michael would be more sensitive, and...you see? Dreadful. It wouldn't have lasted past the first 6 episodes and everyone would say the American version had no "bite".
Of course, maybe I would have liked to insert a few minor changes in Gay Witch Hunt, like - "I can!!!"
Or in The Initiation, like - "Do you really have to go, because I'd really like to talk to you some more. And then drive to Stamford for the weekend".
Or in The Merger, like "Yes things were kind of weird today. Did you realize I was asking you out on a date when I said coffee? A date date, 'cause I'm feeling kinda single tonight."
Ah, well, hopefully, Season 4 will see Jim and Pam as over the angst as we are.
Thanks so much for reviewing!

that totally made me smile....:;sigh:: if only.
Author's Response:
I know!! How many "if only" moments were there for Jim and Pam? Countless. At least there's now a date, and hopefully our Season 3 Non-Couple of Angst will be "just" a couple, providing laughs for us and pranks and foils for Dwight, Michael, and such. We hope, we hope, we hope.
Thanks so much for reviewing, LoveFool. I'm glad it made you smile!

Hah, You could feel Pam's shock.
Author's Response:
And if only Pam could have realized her thoughts in a flash like this and not in a...I don't know, what's the slowest thing you can think of?
It's annoying that she just deflected everything - "I thought that maybe you did". How difficult would it have been to give the teeniest bit of acknowledgment? Although, I suppose when she said "just 'cause we like got along so well", maybe that was that little bit of acknowledgment. Maybe Jim could have said something to that which could have changed things. See? Now I'm going to be thinking about that. I'm probably way too obsessed.
Thanks for reviewing, Swedge!

hahaha! loved it... yeah, but we know our little couple would never be that blunt or open... *rolls eyes*
Author's Response:
Sadly, they weren't. "A crush, you say? I think I'll hide behind my crappy engagement and not acknowledge that I feel the same way." "Excellent! I'll pretend I'm totally over the crush!" "Sounds great! Maybe in Season 4!" "Maybe, we'll see." Aargh.
Thanks for reviewing!

Yes, I certainly wish it would have gone like that!! The first time I saw the episode I stopped breathing because I actually thought she was going to say something like that. But no - I was put through 22 episodes of torture, otherwise known as season 3 minus The Job.
Maybe you should write for the show... ;o)
Author's Response:
If I wrote the show, Pam would have gone out for drinks in The Pilot and realized that Roy was not the guy for her, so...they probably wouldn't want me. I always think she's going to say something like this. How difficult would it have been, Pam?? Oh, well, they have a date now, so...hopefully all will go more smoothly for them.
Thanks so much for reviewing!

I sooooo wished that it had gone like this. Then we wouldn't have to been through the year-of-the-plot-device (aka Karen).
Author's Response:
"Hi, I'm Karen, and I'm a plot device." ("Hi, Karen!") Karen, this is an environment of welcoming and you should just get the hell out of here. (/Michael) I always think, when I see this scene, that Pam should have admitted a little crush too. And yet, every time, the wrong words come out of Pam's mouth.
Actually, I know people who were in this sort of situation. They were roommates. There was one more roommate, a friend of one of the couple and sibling of the other. The woman had a long-time steady boyfriend. One night, one of the roommates admitted they'd always had a crush on the other, and that one said "I always had one on you" (I don't know who admitted it first). The next day, she broke it off with her boyfriend, they were married within a year, and now it's like 15 years and 2 or 3 kids later. And it all started with a little teeny sentence like "you know, I've always had kind of a crush on you."

very cute!! Maybe it's not too late for them to have that conversation during their s4 date.... ;-) (except she's day something like "now i'm really glad I broke up with Roy")
:-)
Author's Response:
I would think she did have a little crush on him at first (and the whole time), but she tried to ignore it since she was already "happily" engaged. I'd love to see that come out during that date! And I know that I'm really glad she broke up with Roy! She must be, as well.
Thanks very much for reviewing, Moxie!

That. would. be. AWESOME!
Author's Response:
Think of all the angst we would have been spared! Yeesh.
Hey, lisahoo, if you ever thought of writing anything (I know you say you can't, but...), this 55 word thing is kind of quick and easy. This is the first thing I didn't use a beta for, since it's so short and all. Come on in, the water's not too bad.
Thanks for reviewing! I can always count on you.
Date: July 08, 2007 05:33 pm Title: Tell The Real Truth, Pam
haha, yep. that so should have been how it happened. is it wrong that i want to go rewatch that episode, pause that scene, read this, and then just be happy.
Author's Response:
It's not wrong Emily: you go right ahead and do that. No one here will judge you.
Thanks so much for reviewing!

I was seriously just thinking about this scene an hour ago...this is a much better way to end things.
gah, that look on her face after he says "really, i'm totally over it." kills me!! KILLS!!
Author's Response:
Every time I see this scene, I sort of expect her to say this instead of "I thought you did". And it's not really all that "out on a limb" to say, "I kinda did too, isn't that crazy? I wonder..."
Oh, well, at least finally "it's a date", right?
Thanks for reviewing!

Look at Jim with the smooth pick up line.
Yep, that would have been much better.
Author's Response:
Pam the 3-years-engaged woman might respond pretty well to a "that was 3 whole years ago, naturally we'd be married by now" response, don't you think? Of course, the date had already been set by then, but...still. THREE YEARS of engagement? Pffft.
My husband and I were married within 3 years of meeting, and we had plenty of time to plan a nice wedding (which he helped plan). That darn Roy.
Thanks for reviewing!
