I decided I was going to do some actual work, take a fanfic break, more work, more fanfic, until something more interesting comes along (ideally, JK comes knocking at my door :))
Yeah, most new couples don't have to deal with having a film crew documenting everything. In fact, whenever I get a boyfriend, I will be reminded of that. At least we aren't being documented for a reality series. Small victories!
I gotta say - I'm with Jim right now. I am way to private a person, I wouldn't even agree to be on film for anything, and showing a new relationship. No way, no how.
I don't like Pam and Jim fighting :(. Even if it is on AIM (or silence).
Make them make up, pretty please.
Yep. That make up kiss is worth it. Its like, the Italian Food kiss but prettier. Not sure how it works, but I'm sticking with it.
Now to deal with laundry :(.

Mox I really love this fic. The argument felt so them. This is exactly how I'd expect them to fight, when they can't see eye to eye.
To an extent I sort of felt that's what was kind of going on in the premiere. Not that it became an argument between them, but more so that it's Jim who wanted to keep what's going on between them super private.
Were you sitting in on the writers meeting earlier this year? :)

Go Jim! Woohoo! I really liked that this is their big problem. It's a unique one, that's for sure. And Jim's the prude! Brilliant. I was terrified that he was going to bring up Pam secretly loving Jim but going back to Roy when she declared that "Letting you know how I feel is more important than whatever anyone else thinks of me." Phew - dodged a bullet there! And yay for more IM'ing! I love how well you incorporate their online chats into your stories. It's something we don't get from the show but is still very real and in character.
Author's Response:
Yes, I admit I love doing IM's - it's a great way to have them talking, without "talking" if you know what I mean. And who isn't just a little more brave when they are typing messages than when they are talking face to face?
Thanks for the review, belsum!!

aawwwww!! too cute!! i could see jim being uptight about the PDA, and i love how you wrote this. but i really do want to see another JAM smooch on the show. hold the angst.
Author's Response: We are DEFINITELY owed a JAM smooch and it had better be happening on September 27, 2007! :^)

ooooooh Moxie, you are a girl after my own heart. Can I send this into to NBC and beg and PLEAD for them to do this? lol. IF ONLY! Oh this is so good!I can't wait until they are fighting about stuff like this.
Author's Response: awww - thanks! And I hope we get to see something like this too - it's just begging to happen!!

Awesome job, as always, Moxie. I really love the perspective on this subject from each of them. It fit them both so well. Kudos to Pam for simply signing off on IM and kudos to Jim for putting it all out there...again! Thanks for this story, I love it.
Author's Response: Not a problem, WalkinLove - you always know where to find me when you've got a special plot request!! :-)

Very well done as always moxie. I like how you ended it even though i saw it coming ;)
Author's Response: hehe - yes, I expected I was somewhat predictable - but I leave the surprising plot twists for my Murder, She Wrote fanfics. ;-) So glad you enjoyed it, Zach!

Ohhhh...nice take on the first fight. We can only hope we'll get to see something close to Jim's response this fall...and as much as I enjoyed this story...I hope Jim's not quite so private...because it would make me very happy to see all those little things he wants to hide.
Author's Response: me too, flamingo - me, too!! I have to hope that he couldn't possibly ALWAYS keep his hands off of her if they are dating. I mean, he's waited TOOO long to be able to!

A+, five stars and a wonderful job. I could see them both reacting about their relationship that way. I'm glad Jim finally came around. Great story.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad I've managed to impress!

You realize you have a potential ligitation on your hands right? Cause I can totally see the Office S4 doing this exact scenario! And you had it first!!! LOL Great look into a day in the office for them (as well as the type of thing that might be their first argument)
Author's Response:
As long as you are there to back me up on the MTT and TWoP forums when it happens, I'll be happy. :-) (and of course I'd be happy to see it happen on the screen!!)
Thanks so much, StarryDreamer!

This is great Moxie. I really enjoy reading your stories because they read so true to the characters and what is happening (or hopefully will happen) on the show. I can definitely see how dealing with the camera crew would add to their in-office tension.
This bit is just the best:
"I play to win, Halpert."
This made me do that little triumphant fist pump that Pam does in Safety Training. Hell yes, Ms Beesly plays to win. Pam always wins. Yay.
Author's Response:
Yes, I have to agree. FNB definitely decided to start playing to win once she did that coal walk. I can't wait to see Pam sparkle next season!!

This is great Moxie, cause I really do think that that would be an issue for these two. So, well done and very realistic.
I was reading Oracle Mom the other day (bravo on that, also) and I was just so taken with how effortlessly you narrate. It was reading that that I realized that is one of the main reasons I love your stuff (besides great characterization, writing, happy ending and original ideas) is just how easy it is to read (I hope that sounds like a complimet, cause it is). Seriously, your writing is just so natural, it is a joy. So... thanks!
Nice work as always.
Author's Response: I really appreciate your kind words - In some ways writing fanfic is such a selfish little hobby. Very much wish-fulfillment, at least for me. It's quite nice to know that others can find some joy in it as well. :-)

Little typo - occasion hand-holding
I love Jim's description of the progression of PDA, and Pam's response to it.
Jim's solution was "Kiss the Girl!" Love it.
This seemed very realistic to me - the two of them hiding the PDA, and one of them thinking that was more important than the other. What a nice job!
Author's Response:
ha! Now I've got Little Mermaid tunes in my head. Damn you, Kev!! ;-)
Thanks for the typo alert - I really do appreciate the heads up.

Masterful as usual! Is this complete?
Thanks,
Batman
Author's Response: thsnks for the review, batman! Yes, this is all I had planned for this story. But you know there's always going to be some new from me just around the corner...

I enjoyed this, Moxie. It felt realistic as the kind of fight they would have, and it was nice to see Jim compromised for something that was so important for Pam.
Author's Response: Oh, yay! I'm so pleased you thought it was realistic. I think exploring the rough patches of a new relationship is exactly what they should be doing on the show this coming season. Oh, and all the making up from those rough patches, obviously. ;^)

Jim's compromise made my stomach do little flippy things. So... good work there. <3
Author's Response: oh yay! Sometimes when you work on a piece for a while, you start to wonder if the idea is as true to the character, or as believable, as you hope it is - glad to know you must have thought so!!

I really like the whole angle about Jim's consciousness of the camera crew. That whole theme is really interesting to me. (Why the hell would anyone spend so damn much time filming this boring little office for so damn long?!?!) And I can envision the 'thumbs up' from Brian, and picture Jim getting annoyed, so that is a great jumping off point.
The comparison to Ryan & Kelly -- reminds me of the whole bit with Angela & Dwight ("I hate those two people more than anything in the world") ha!
I really like this point Pam makes:
I just don't understand how it is so easy for you to let other people influence how you'll behave every single day.
And the bit about the camera crew trying to get their 'updates' is clever -- not only that Pam & Jim are usually united in their vague non-answers, but having it happen in the middle of their disagreement and then being the catalyst for Jim's compromise.
"Pam, this is ridiculous. I don't want to do this anymore." (Aiiiiieee!)
I really like that bit. It’s the right amount of understated drama that the show is rich with.
Plus there's smooching. Who doesn't love that?
Author's Response:
Plus there's smooching. Who doesn't love that?
It is the sole reason I write Jim/Pam fanfic. :^D
Thanks for the awesome review!!!! You are the best!

awww.. I love Jim and Pam kissy stories.
Author's Response: and who doesn't love that? :-)

This was a sweet one, Mox. I could see Jim being extremely private about their relationship. And who could blame Pam for not being able to keep her paws to herself? Maybe this will inspire me to finally finish my fight fic...but yours will be sweeter!
Author's Response: dorkier maybe - but yours are always sweet!! And I hope I do indeed inspire your muse to finish - the world need as many colette stories as we can get....
Date: July 13, 2007 01:27 pm Title: The quarrels of lovers are the renewal of love
This was so true to character, now I'm afraid it's going to be one of those fics that lodges it's way into my brain to the point in which i believe it actually took place on the show
awesome job!!
Author's Response: Thanks, PPC -- I take it as a high compliment to get my story mixed up with canon!! :-)

Another great one, Moxie. This is another story that shows them arguing and making up in a realistic manner. Terrific job!
Author's Response: Thanks again, larry - I had a little trouble at first worrying that the disagreement was too silly, but aren't most arguments between couples over the less than important issues?
Date: July 13, 2007 01:14 pm Title: The quarrels of lovers are the renewal of love
Ooooh, nice one Moxie! I've had an idea percolating about them fighting for a while, and this makes it very clear that it is a subject worth exploring a bit. Love how "them" they sound via IM, and I do like their positions on the subject- Pam was never shy about PDA with Roy, and Jim/Karen never showed anything, so it is very consistent with the evidence that they would react this way. Not to mention the perfect resolution!
Author's Response: That's why I never believed the magic of Jim and Pam would be over once they finally got together. They're human - they are going to have disagreements and arguments and stupid stuff that to an outsider can be very, very funny to watch. I'm glad you found this sounding true to them - that means the world to me! Thanks, nqllisi!

awesome, mox! i could totally see this happening & would LOVE to see what kiss. ahhhhh...
Author's Response: I appreciate your confidence, officerules! I'd love to see that happen, too..... :^)

"I just feel like having them film anything between us that isn't Dunder Mifflin related is like they are stealing from us. It has nothing to do with working in a paper supply company."
I really like this idea, and you've captured it very well! Perfect reading for a Friday afternoon!
Author's Response: Thanks, McGigi! and TGIF, hmm? So glad you liked it. :^)
Date: July 13, 2007 12:35 pm Title: The quarrels of lovers are the renewal of love
hehehe, we all knew Jim had to give in, in the end :) good for him. I like how I could actually see the two of them having this argument, and because of how much the two of them have changed this past season, Pam would be the one OK with the camera seeing things. nice job!
Author's Response: thank you for the review, RoJ! I'm glad the argument seemed believable. :-)
