Great! You commented on my date story so it seems only far that I do likewise! This is really good first date fic. I especially enjoyed Jim having dinner brought to Pam's. Nice touch!
Author's Response: Thanks so much. It's always interesting to me to read how different writers approach the same subject...like Jim and Pam's "first date" or what happened when they first met, etc. Any way, thanks for your comments and I'm glad you also enjoyed my story as I did yours.

That was great [: It was exactly like them! i can't wait to read more of you work!
Author's Response: Glad you liked it. I'm especially happy that you thought it was true to their characters. And looking back, now that we've seen "Fun Run", I think it still fits with where we find Jim and Pam, now...and that's in a verrry good place.

I enjoyed your version of their first date. Having dinner brought in was so sweet, but I think my favorite part was the walk along the river and Pam telling him about how the teapot made her realize she couldn't marry Roy. Just beautiful.
Author's Response:
Glad you liked it. When we were all speculating about the Season 3 finale, I had a thought about how great it would be if either the teapot or a gold medal from "Office Olympics" somehow made an appearance. I just thought those were two very tangible objects that somehow symbolized the truly deep feelings Jim and Pam held for one another, despite all the emotional estrangement throughout Season 3 . I was genuinely shocked and oh so pleasantly surprised when I recognized the glint of gold attached to Pam's note during Jim's interview. So, I just thought it would be nice that something Pam received from Jim, something that symbolized his feelings for her, would play a prominent role in Pam's ultimate decision to not go forward with her wedding to Roy. And I thought it fit well with Pam's discussion with Dwight in the Valentine's Day episode about what to get his "girlfriend for a gift:
Pam: Ok, well, sometimes the gift is really about the gesture, you know, like what it means, instead of what it is.
Dwight: You mean, like a ham?
Pam: No, not like a ham. It's about doing something, so that the person knows that you really care about her.
I always belived that Pam understood what Jim's gesture of the teapot really meant...I think it was nice symmetry!

Yeah, that day for Jim... certainly a lot happened. Waking up with Karen in NY.... Job interview and all that went with it, breaking up with Karen, driving back to Scranton, asking Pam out, and then the date.... wow, thats a busy day!
I think Pam would look beautiful like that (but, girlcrush, she always looks amazing).
And he brought flowers.... *happy sigh*
I love the desription of Pam's apartment, it seems very Pam.
Jim ordered the food and had it delivered! Well, of course, because its not as if she could make the food in her one kitchen. And, going out would just not be as great as staying in.
I love how you fill in what happened after Michael returned!
And correct, for Dunder Mifflin... not that strange at all.
You win - walking along a river/beach/lake, etc.... oh yeah, romantic as all get out.
Oh, and combining that with the hand in the small of her back - even more so.
Last time I walked along a river... okay, so last few times were with kiddos I was babysitting. And then it was with a friend. Where was I going with that? I totally forget...
So sweet that the teapot is what caused the realization.
Hopeful scared.... I know that feeling.
such a happy ending.
minor - i would suggest a beta reader, because there was a lot of small things that should be caught.
Author's Response: Thanks for the nice comments. I wanted my story of their date to be a nice romantic, mostly angst-free evening...more of a "happy place"...to sort of set the stage for good things happening in season 4.

Awwwh....this story is so sweet. I loved the idea of the date and having the food brought to them so they could talk in peace. Such a cute story - great job!
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I thought having the dinner brought to Pam's would be a very intimate and romantic gesture on Jim's part and would also make it more comfortable for he and Pam to be more open about some things that probably need to be discussed. Glad you liked it.
