"Dunder-Mifflin events (uh oh – did he just refer to his own party as a Dunder-Mifflin event? Please no. He really needed to get out more),"
Yes, Jim. Yes, you do!
And I love drunk!Pam. I do think that, at least during S2, that was the more natural Pam. But then again, drinking does lower your inhibitions, so it does make everyone slightly more natural. Until you reach the bad drunk level. Then its just drunk people, not natural.
And lying on the floor sometimes is insanely comfortable. But then again, I do just have a habit of being on the floor.
And... the end broke my heart. As did all of S2.
Author's Response: Hey, a review for my very first fic ever! Yes! Not that it's exactly ancient history or anything. Okay, so yeah, the "lying on the floor" element of the story admittedly did come from my own habit of doing so when life just gets too annoying. I've also managed to convince a couple of my coworkers that this is a good idea too, so, victory. Thanks so much for the review, Emily! It's cool to realize that it still gets read sometimes. :)

Excellent first attempt! Your protrayal of drunk!Pam seemed very realistic.

I thought you did a really good job. You conveyed all the ambiguity in their relationship in season 2 where Pam just pushes and pulls Jim. That was lovely and yet very sad.

There can never be enough fic about this episode. It's one of my favorites and you captured the mood of Season 2 so wonderfully. Excellent work! Please write more fic:)
Author's Response: Thank you! Well, I already have about 12 different ideas bouncing around my head as we speak (type?). Nobody warned me that this fanfic writing business would be addictive! So hopefully more will be forthcoming. Maybe tonight :)

I loved this take on what could have happened. Very true to what we knew of Jim and Pam in season two. Sweet with just the right amount of angst.

This is really good for a first time out! I could totally see this happening at the end of Email Surveillance (still one of my favorite eps that I watch over and over again!).

There are so many E-Mail Surveillance fanfics out there (I've written two myself), and they all have kind of the same prremise, but they're still all different from each other. You did a really good job of creating this moment between Jim and Pam that is unique, and sad and angsty and sweet at the same time. I got all teary-eyed, too, when he kissed her forehead. Good job on your first fic!
Author's Response: Yeah, I was kind of reluctant to go with Email Surveillance since so many great ones had been done on the same premise already, but I had this scene in my head and it just seemed to fit with the atmosphere and opportunity of that episode the best. Thank you!

OUCH!!! This is absolutely fantastically angsty! First fic or not, this is an awesome story!
Author's Response: Thank you! I know, it hurts! I thought all that televised angst was going to kill me, but here I am now writing angsty fic. Who knew? I think I can only handle it because I know it doesn't end there!

AAAAAIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! And also: sigh. Yet another time something should've happened but didn't. Sigh and double sigh! But it was so nicely written and so sweet and you did such a great job with Drunk!Pam, that I really don't mind that there was no kissing. I mean, of course I mind, but I loved the story anyway. :)
Author's Response: Haha, thank you! I feel you there -- but I wanted this to be in keeping with the rest of the show's storyline, and I think a kiss would have pushed them out of their season 2 limbo. Plus, I really felt like Casino Night was their first kiss :)

Excellent for your first attempt at fanfic thirtypercent.
Author's Response: Thank you!

Ouch. That sounds totally true to the emotional tapdancing of S2. Something so intimate about being in Jim's house. Sigh.

This was good stuff! I loved how Jim wished Pam would be more like herself when she was sober. I can definitely relate to that. And I think your ideas about Pam's low self-esteem and thinking Jim was too good for her are dead-on. This feels like it really could have happened on the show. Great job!
Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah, I never really liked the portrayal of Pam as knowing Jim was in love with her and purposely stringing him along for the ego boost. She certainly has/had her faults, but I don't think she's intentionally cruel or manipulative.

Awww poor Jim. I love drunk Pam she's sooo funny. Really really cool fic!
Author's Response: Thanks! I was wary of writing drunk Pam since, well, that can go horribly wrong, so I'm glad you liked it!

Nice job!

Here's what I think: 1st or 20th fanfic, this is wonderful. I love stories that capture a simple moment like this - so delicate and lovely and poignant and you really capture that feeling between them. (One of my fave episodes, re: Jim/Pam, btw.) Their dialogue is spot on - great banter, and then this made my heart skip a beat:
“Pam… I’m not so great.” She stared at him intently for a long moment. In a whisper she replied. “Yes you are."
And I love how you end on such an understated note: "He didn't follow." Says it all. Really well done.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I was beyond thrilled to wake up and read this. Yeah, one of the things that impresses me most about the writing and the acting on this show is how understated the whole Jim/Pam thing is. I didn't want things to get too overwrought.

I'm a sucker for Email Survelliance fan-fic. It's one of my favorite episodes of all time. This is very sweet and angsty. JAM in all their early Season 2 glory. Nice job! Write some more...
Author's Response: Thank you! After reading fanfic for a few months, I have some ideas rattling around my head -- hopefully I can get them out.
