This was your first time? I hope it wasn't your last. (That's what she said. ;)) Seriously, it was lovely. It was a believable first date with all the excitement and flirtiness, and I just loved Pam discovering the artist (poetry and all that...) in her. :)

Oh you just made my night. This was truly a PERFECT first date. Just everything about it -- from Jim's note that said it needed to be destroyed (and wonderful that Pam kept it), all the way to this moment on the couch where Jim was just as moved by the line in the poem as Pam was. Just beautiful.

WHAT a great first effort! Good pacing, good dialog. You've really captured the urgency and nervousness of the first date very nicely. I liike it a lot.

Dude, if this is your first time writing something like this, then I am duly impressed! This is so in character and beautifully written, and I love that you're able to capture the emotions, both good and not-so-good. My favorite bit was this:
He’s twisted in his chair, grinning up at her with his eyes alight, and she’s leaned down and pressed her mouth to his before she can really think it through. It’s tentative and a little awkward, but still, the feathery thing that’s been beating at her belly doubles its efforts. His lips are as warm as she remembers them.
So beautiful. And I love that it's Pam that makes the first move, and I love that they had a make-out session because not much is better than that.
I can't wait for more!

This is seriously one of the best stories I've read in a long time. I LOVED it! The poetry element was really cool, and the whole thing is very well written. I hope there are more chapters to come

I loved this. I've read a LOT of first date fics, but this had poetry, so how can you argue with that? :) it's just so well written, and you've captured their characters VERY well. I love it.

Wow, what a great first date that was. Terrific job.

I've got to say I'm very impressed. And I was pretty much prepared to be un-impressed (being a first date fic and all).
Good job on the voices- and I just really responded to the overall tone/feel of the date... one of the more realistic J/P make out sessions too. Overall great job!

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!

I don't know how you did it, but you managed to write a completely original and totally awesome first date fic. You are a fantastic writer with such vivid descriptions! And as an English geek I love that you quoted Emily Dickinson :) I hope to read more from you soon!

really nice - good job!

This is truly amazing. I'm totally in love with it. It's just so charming and smart. The title completely drew me in because I've studied Dickinson for the past few years, and 'Hope is the thing with feathers' is still one of my favorites. Great, great job.

I'm not usually into the really romantic stuff (well I am because it's JAM but not this romantic) but I just loved this.
“Oh.” A beat, and then: “You’re still beautiful.”
My favourite line. I think I melted with her. It was just so perfect!

This was wonderful! Well done. I really enjoyed it. I thought the way you wrote was just beautiful. They both seem very in-character, and the insight into Pam's mind was (what i would consider) flawless. I cannot believe this was your first time writing. Do you normally write fiction? If not, i certainly hope you start, and if so, i certainly hope you continue with your lovely talent.

That was awesome. It totally sounded like them. I'd love to read more!

Oh gosh, I loooove first date fics and this was one of the best I've read. You captured Jim and Pam so well and the giddiness, the hope, the yearning, the restraint, the sweetness! It was a big package of awesome. Pam's concerns regarding to the abrupt end of his relationship with Karen was very realistic, it was a great touch to highlight her inner thoughts.
I'm putting in my vote for more chapters!

I really loved this. It felt clean and light and did a great job of bridging the gap between the two seasons.
Plus, anyone who makes fun of Thomas Kinkade is a winner in my books!
