OH MY GOD! I will write my review in screenplay format.
PAMELAMORGANHALPERT sits with a MacBook Pro laptop on her thighs, a beaming smile on her lips, her yes beginning to water as she gapes at the screen in front of her.
PAMELAMORGANHALPERT:
'Why did you do this for me?'
STABLERGIRL:
Because I thought you might enjoy it and I knew I was such a talented and incredible author that I just decided 'hey, what the heck - there's no harm, no foul in doing this, I'll just go for it - and succeed. Incredibly. And embarrassingly well'.
PAMELAMORGANHALPERT:
My goodness, Stablergirl, you've read my mind. This is brilliant, and perfect in every possible way, and I don't know how you do it. I love this story.
STABLERGIRL:
I know, I'm a mindreader. Ever since I was a little kid I've been able... to kind of... control things with my mind. You know, just the littlest things. But this story is not little, it's a wonderful happy Christmas present and I knew you'd love the Paris part.
PAMELAMORGANHALPERT:
You're right. I'll leave you be, as I'm only a spectator, a fan, and you're the master. Keep up the good work!
END SCENE.
Alright, sorry that was cheesy and pathetic, I was just finishing my math homework... taking a break, more like it, and I felt like being a little different. Anyway, if you didn't understand, I love this story!

Aw, adorable, great story! It was so cute and well-written. The last part absolutely made me melt.
Great job!

Brava!

Oh yay! I'm so proud of Pam for actually telling Jim the truth and not hiding behind falsely-proud silence. Nice twist that Jim and Anne weren't really the be all and end all but rather just a run-of-the-mill high school relationship.

The phrase, "the quiet secrets he hadn’t even gotten around to telling himself" is simply amazing. It encapsulates perfectly everything that Jim felt and imagined in that one moment. Pristine. As much as I loved Larissa staring him down until he paid attention, the second half of this chapter was just fantastic.

And she felt at home.
This made me teary-eyed. Lyrical and sentimental without being sappy or silly, you've captured how much they love each other in a setting that really does test relationships (I'm still overwhelmed by my husband's family, ten years later). Beautiful from beginning to end.

Ahhh. Resolving that tension gracefully. Courage and honesty really works, eh?
Date: January 10, 2008 11:56 am Title: Tis the season...
this was like someone had tapped into his subconscious and made real the quiet secrets he hadn’t even gotten around to telling himself.
That is a killer line. Wow. Just...wow.

I love this- because Pam's concern is so real, and so natural. I love that she feels happy and comfortable there except for the huge source of unhappiness and discomfort that she had no idea she'd be facing. I like that Jim was legitimately happy to see Anne- because I think being with Pam has healed the Anne-sized wound forever, even if Pam doesn't know it yet. Beautiful.

OK, I was just floating along on the happy holiday fluff, and then BAM, now I'm upset along with Larissa and Pam. I love how you make creating this atmosphere seem effortless, and how you've managed to cram in so many characters but have them all real and distinct. Great so far!

So intense. Pam's claustrophobia was contagious. And the quiet room with Jonathon on the piano and little Jess coloring: magical. I'm worry for Pam's train of thought though...

Gah! Jim and Anne! I did not see that coming.
Date: January 10, 2008 10:57 am Title: ...with boughs of holly...
The amazing thing is the this Halpert family reminds me of both my in-laws and my extended maternal family reunions. It's vibrant and fun and I love it! Plus, Larissa is awesome! Forget about fanon favorite Jonathon, she's my gal!

For some reason it really fits that Pam would be a winter person. I love that she was the only one that shared Michael's happiness at the first snow fall. Those two have an odd but real connection.

"It wasn’t until the temperature slipped low and frosty, it wasn’t until they started to huddle together under the blankets and whisper because that was what people did in the cold month of December, it wasn’t until she used his oven to make those peanut butter cookies with the Hershey kisses in the middle because those were his favorite, that she realized he was inside of her life and he was inside of her home and between him and the snow she could die a happy woman."
You painted such a sweet and cozy picture with that line.

Just had to let you know that this story was read and re-read by me over the last week and it was truly a high point in an otherwise slow MTT week. Once I saw what you had been working on, and that it would be continuously updated I completely forgave you for the fact that Pam and Scully were still in the basement!! I had to keep checking back for each Comfort and Joy update.
You are by far my favorite fanfic writer and I wish you much time and joy for writing in 2008!!

SG, I feel so honored that this was my gift and I for certain got the best end out of our swap. This was masterful and lovely. Just like a holiday movie!! It was wonderful and I am truly humbled.
