Oh, poor Jim. I think this is probably very accurate to his experience.

Love this. Perfectly captures the feeling of having your heart broken, and then the unsettling realization that no matter how much it hurts, by some miracle you go on breathing. Very well done.
Poor Jim.

You continue to write the most amazingly beautiful stories. This was no exception.

Before, you were certain you would never be able to rebuild if you found yourself hearing her confirm all the things you were the most terrified of.
And there's the essence of Jim's reticence. Very insightful.

Oooh. I've imagined that moment from Pam's perspective, but never from Jim's- what it was like for her smile and her joy to come crashing into him and the carefully constructed walls he's built. This is gorgeous.

Oops...I meant the hug in The Merger, of course. What a different season that would have been, had they hugged in Gay Witch Hunt. Lesson: don't write reviews before your first cup of coffee in the morning ;-)

Such a clear portrait of his state of mind then - love how being 'okay' is used as a recurrent refrain - kind of damned by faint affirmation. And the 2nd person makes it all so direct and present. This line especially got to me: This isn’t to say you aren’t still incessantly haunted by the thought of her mouth, her hands, her. Wow, so good, so achey. Need to read this again. (Coincidentally, I also once wrote a fic called 'Okay', triggered by that same hug in Gay Witch Hunt. What a loaded moment that was.)

That last paragraph, and particularly that last line, really made this story for me. Such an eerie, alluring mix of hope and hopelessness -- it gave me goosebumps. Also, I think this was a great use of the second-person perspective.

Aw jeebus! You've shown Jim's heartache in a whole new way from what we've seen before, and just a droplet of hope at the end. Nicely done, as ever.
P.S. I miss my freaking show so badly!! This is a nice diversion.
