Let me start by stating for the record, I don't like kids. There, I said it. But Sasha is way cute and Jim taking care of Sasha? Lovely. And yet I feel like Jim is wearing a huge neon sign flashing "PAM, I AM THE MOST PERFECT MAN IN THE WORLD FOR YOU" and she's got her eyes closed and her fingers in her ear going "LA LA LA LA LA LA".

Author's Response: That visual made me cackle out loud!  My god - so, so true.  I don't know why I write Pam so frustratingly; I really don't mean to.  Oh dear god....I'm still laughing.  Thank you!

K first off, that was an absolutely fantastic chapter.  Loved Jim's interaction with Sasha and with Pam and how pam noticed everything.  I do have a dental background so  you are perfectly ok saying lost teeth at 5. Very common.

Author's Response: Oh good! Thank you for that. :o) And thank you for the review!

Well, clearly hopelessly romantic minds think alike! The idea of Jim taking care of Sasha was almost too swoon inducing. Glad you dove in and rode that wave so well - very cathartic just to read it! (And the forearms/hands? His exposing them should be declared a form of indecent exposure.) By the way, if you have a moment, check out my last fic (No Reason...) because I dreamed the Daddy Jim dream a little  too - tried not to go too sappy, but would be curious to know what you think.

Author's Response:

First of all, thank you for the review.  Second of all, thank you even more for re-directing me to your story (gulp).  I had read it and loved it, but I was at the office, so I didn't leave a review.  But YES, I loved it, and I found it incredibly realistic and seriously, not at all sappy - which isn't easy to do at all when you're writing about Jim and babies.  (That wasn't supposed to be funny, actually; I'm totally serious.)  But yes, so beautifully written; you have such a flair for writing the most poignantly erotic stuff...literally makes me ache.  I think what made my stomach jump the most (and there were many things in that fic that did!) was the way you described him kissing her afterward and telling her to get some sleep, even though she could feel him against her.....  I'm very glad she "gave him everything," because man, how could she not?  (Can you tell I loved that story?)  Seriously, though, thanks for reminding me, because I had wanted to leave a review.  (I did just now, by the way.)

Of course Jim would be the best babysitter ever!  Jim = hot, but Jim + kids = hottest.

Author's Response: Hee hee.  Tell me about it.  Don't you wish we could write scenes and then force him to act them out?  (Wait....that sounded really dirty.  I swear I didn't mean it that way - though it is a thought.....) :O) Thanks for the review!

OH MY GOSH!  Sasha and Jim.  Pam and Jim.  Forearms and hands.  Brilliant!

Author's Response: Heee - thank you!  I ought to be ashamed at how awful I am about drifting into JK lust while writing fiction, but I can't help it.  It's too much fun to think of Pam sitting around staring at his forearms like we do.  Well, like some of us do.  *cough*

Wonderful, lovely fluff but not at all predictable. Well, only in the best way- I assumed it would be great (it is) and that they'd both be way more open about their feelings than they ever are on the show (which is what I love about your fic).

Author's Response: Thank you so much!  I figured it was too obvious to have Sasha love Jim, to make her fall down and cry so he has to comfort her and be all sweet, and to have her totally ask him if Pam's his girlfriend.  But thank you for what you said!  :o)

Sigh...I definitely teared up at that one. Adorable Jim, and longing Pam with a hint of Jonathan thrown in for good measure.  PERFECT!!!

Author's Response: Yay!  Jonathan's all for you, baby! :o) (Well, and a little for me, 'cos I like thinking of Scott Foley and John Krasinski in proximity to one another.)

That deleted scene was almost hard to watch it was so sad...then this. You really captured Jim's profound sense of loss and hopelessness - and Pam's confounding insistence on using 'friendship' as a euphimism for his slow torture. 'All he could do was nod helplessly.' There it is.

Author's Response: You know, even your reviews are beautifully written, I swear. Thank you so much for your feedback - and I love the way you put that: "Pam's confounding insistence on using 'friendship' as a euphimism for his slow torture.'" That is so, so true.

Received my DVDs today...and now I can't wait until tomorrow night when we'll watch the deleted scenes! Here's to another beautifully angsty chapter from you...and for (I hope) the many more to come.

Author's Response: Thank you so much!  I can't wait either for you to see those scenes -- especially this one.  It's just so beautifully done that it's a shame they cut it.  I totally understand why they did, but.... mm-mm-mm.

Oy.  I haven't seen the deleted scenes yet, but...wow.  Poor, poor Jim.

Author's Response: Oh me. I feel as though I should warn you - if you thought this was bad....?  Guh. Wait until you see the expression on John Krasinski's face.

Gah. You wrote the most heartbreakingly beautiful scene here. The way you turned Jim's emotions into words that could actually be seen in my mind and felt in my heart was unbelievable.  I am so glad you are continuing the behind the scenes. You are truly an awesome writer.

Author's Response: ....And you are an awesome person for so faithfully leaving feedback.  Thank you so much!

That just about killed me and I haven't seen the scene yet.

Author's Response: Ohhhhhh, gotkona....you are in for a big fat angsty sigh. :o) The scene is just beautifully done - again, Krasinski is freaking brilliant.  And actually, while I held my breath through the confession on Casino Night & got a tear when JK did, I didn't actually cry; when I saw this scene yesterday, I cried on the spot.  I'm just warning you.... :o)

Ouch! Oh, this made me get all teared up and choked up! At first, though, I couldn't believe that Pam would do something like that to Jim-- be so open with him, basically showing him (and telling him) how much she loves him, but then backpedaling and saying what a good "friend" he is, because there's no way she could not know how he felt about her here, and I think you made it clear in your writing that she certainly knows what he feel for her, yet, she's almost at the point of saying it out loud, but then she never does, and doesn't acknowledge what she truly feels for him either... so I'm not sure if it would ever get this far between the two of them without something more than a cry-fest-kiss-and-run-away thing happening... but then again I sometimes watch the show and say, "oh my god, that is the most serious denial I have ever seen! That, or you're just really mean, Pam." hehe.

But at any rate, this was a really well-written what-if scene, and it really struck a chord.

Author's Response:

Thanks for such a thoughtful review!  And I actually agree with you - in my fics, I am very (VERY) guilty of stretching the bounds of reality for some good drama. I think that if Jim were in tears like that and Pam came out, then cried right along with him, he'd say something to her at that point.  I do think that Pam knows what she's feeling but just tries to deny it, so I can sort of see her falling back on the whole "he's-my-best-friend" thing.  That said, the kissing?  No way.  I've said it before and I'll say it again: A drunken kiss at the Dundees was excusable, but I do not see these two being able to have a kissy type friendship, not with all the tension.

I just make 'em kiss to give poor Jim a break sometimes. :o)

Yup, I loved it.  And I said it over at TWoP too, but I kind of hated Pam's reaction in that scene on the DVD.  She was WAY too careless with Jim's heart.

Author's Response: Oh yes - I completely agree.  Absolutely.  :o) I'm gonna try to work Jonathan back into this series, by the way. :o)

Like a moth to the flame, I read this even though I KNEW it would be painful! And not to give short shrift to your work but I skimmed it to dull the pain and still, my heart hurts right now. A lot.

Author's Response: I'll make it up to you with the Sasha one - because in my head, it's going to be one big fluffy ode to the adorableness that is Jim Halpert. :o) Thank you for your review!

It's amazing how Jim says nothing in the whole second half of this, and yet his pain is howling at us, almost deafening. Pam's love for him is so cruel here, and he is entirely helpless.

Author's Response: Thank you so much - I love reading your reviews, because they're always so thoughtful.  (For that matter, I love reading your fics, too!)  But yeah, the thing that strikes me about Jim in that deleted scene is just the raw pain on his face - just astonishing to me.  JK really is incredible.  Thanks for the review!

Watching that deleted scene, all I wanted to do was cry (and I did!), but reading this, I want to cry and throw Pam overboard.

Author's Response: Yeah, after i wrote it, I thought the same! But hearing some of what JK said on those commentaries makes me feel much better about the fact that YES Pam is in love with him, too!  Thanks, as always, for the review!!
