I'm all choked up on this one! Can't those crazy kids just get it? Looking forward to whatever's next!
Author's Response:
Only a few more days of torture. Hopefully. :)

Loved this chapter, especially this line - "He wishes he was the one to have heard her talk about her dreams before she’d decided to give up on them"
Author's Response:
Sigh. 'Cause you know he does.

He thinks the crew might see right through him, and part of him wants them to... Maybe the camera is catching something to give him proof that he’s not crazy.
Great Jim POV in that. And canceling on Katy? Nice precedent for not taking Brenda's phone call.
Author's Response:
Merci beaucoup, Shan. He said a "plans with a friend" I took it as him being sly. ;)
I'm glad you thought so. It was in the back of my mind that it's not the first time he's put Pam before another woman (natch!)
I'm really trying to intertwine a bunch of the deleted scenes here. But I don't think I have the heart to tackle Booze Cruise. I'm looking for angsty - with a side of hopeful. ;)

"Plus - I think it's so sad to kick the tomato sauce right out of a job."
That's such a Pam line. Nice!
And in an instant, the smile vanishes.
Ouch. You brought that moment across really well.
Author's Response:
HA! I thought Pam might say it but honestly? That line is more like what I'd say than anything.
The boy just breaks hearts. Can't you just see him? Head down, eyes on the table, huge smile - then he looks up and BAM!
Ouch indeed.

Nice!
Author's Response: Thanks!

Another sad, sweet, true, hopeful, wistful one. All my favorite elements! (BTW, take a quick look at the review I left early this a.m. for Girl7's latest...it contains an easter egg I think you'll appreciate! Big time.)
Author's Response:
I'm glad you liked it and OMG - JINX!!! I just read that article myself not 20 min ago and posted it at TWoP.
But I definitely appreciate your thinking of me. Because had I not already read it - your nudge would have totally brought me there.

Yep, you do a great job of making me want to smack the snot out of Pam. Hee. Actually, I feel bad for both of them, here. They are clearly so quietly, perfectly right for each other.
Author's Response:
Whenever she infuriates me I try to get into her head and understand why she doesn't just jump that boy already.
So you could say that the majority of my stories are really me trying to keep myself from "smacking the snot out of her." LOL!

This was a really great envision of their first 'date'. Sweet, but I could feel my stomach turn with all the 'akward'. Can't wait for the rest!
Author's Response: They're very good at making my tummy hurt. Thank Jenintx!

This is so wonderful! Sweet and sad and beautiful. Great job!
Author's Response:
I know. Isn't it??? Thanks bitterpill!
Author's Response:
To clarify - The "I know. Isn't it???" was for your "sad and sweet" remark. The "Thanks" is for the wonderful, beautiful and great job!!
Didn't want to sound too conceited. LOL!

What a wonderful first non-date! It was great that they clicked so easily.
Author's Response: The poor things!!! Don't you just want to smack some sense into them???
Date: September 14, 2006 03:39 pm Title: Just Friends
Awwww, poor Jim. Friends is a great place to start...
Author's Response: Even if they are both just kidding themselves. ;) Thanks kaystar!

Hee! I knew someone would write this! So glad it was you! And what a lovely read. I like their first "date."
Author's Response:
I'm glad!!! I did too - until it became and undate. Poor Jim. :(
I'm going to have to make it up to him somehow I think. :)

very sweet.
Author's Response: Aww. Thanks!

Oh my god.... This is amazing, xoxoxo! And even though it's angsty and so painfully said, the beginning completely makes up for it. I love this!
Author's Response: Thanks girl7!! I'm so glad you liked it.

This was great; I like the ease and the flirtiness of early Pam & Jim. Poor Jim... sigh ...
Author's Response:
Thanks GreenFish! Sadly, this is my life now. They give me a few extra seconds of footage - I demand to see more.
And then need to write it myself. LOL!
Poor Jim indeed. :(
Date: September 14, 2006 06:00 am Title: Just Friends
Oh, Jim. Poor, poor Jim. Knowing what's going to happen as soon as he works up the courage makes me want to just jump in and say "noooooooo!" to him. Hee. This was great. And heartbreaking. Please tell me there's more to ease the pain!
Author's Response:
I know. When I wrote it I almost felt like I got slapped.
(clearly - spending too much time with fictional characters. LOL!)
There is more - full of fluff to cushion the fall. I promise!!!

I just chastised you on TWoP for breaking my heart. But it always hurts so good! Poor Jim - par for the course for him and Pam.
Author's Response:
Scolded twice so early in the morning. :) j/k.
Par for the course indeed.
Date: September 14, 2006 05:47 am Title: Just Friends
AH! Loved it!! No need to be iffy. This was really wonderful!
Author's Response: I'm glad bitterpill! I think my iffiness really stems from anxiousness about S3. ;) 7 days...7 days...7 days...
Date: September 14, 2006 03:59 am Title: Just Friends
Poor Jim. She's perfect and toxic from the first moment. He was doomed from the start. You definitely capture them both beautifully.
Author's Response: That she is. I'm so very glad you think so! Thanks nqllisi!

Ironically, I just watched this deleted scene before going to sleep last night, then woke up and caught up on stories and...voila. You really capture the sense of deflation in Jim's expression during that talking head. His wistfulness, his yearning, even his humor...it's all palpable here, in a very natural way.
Author's Response:
It was heartbreaking. And I mean what I've said. I don't really want to do this anymore. Part of me wants to let it go and wait and see what really happens because I'm either setting myself up for something akin to fanfic deja vu or severe disappointment.
But apparently my muse didn't get the memo. ;) I'm very glad everything I wanted to convey came across.
Poor, poor Jim. And poor Pam too. From the very beginning she could have had a different type of life but alas, she's already deep in denial.

And thus begins both a beautiful friendship and a relationship that rips my heart out weekly. This was awesome.
While I was watching all of the deleted scenes I got so excited in anticipation of the new stories that would be created. I was definitely praying for some from you, so yay!
Author's Response: Amen to that. Awww. I'm so glad I could oblige. :)
Date: September 13, 2006 09:46 pm Title: Just Friends
Oh god, wonderful! You completely portrayed what this would feel like--the first 3/4 felt wonderful and fun and free and happy, and then you get punched in the face by Pam's admission. So so good.
I'm really excited that you're cushioning this blow with extra chapters :) Can't wait!
Author's Response:
Re: the extra chapters - I decided I had to make it up to him somehow. Now that I "know" how long he's been smitten I'm watching everything in a whole new context.
Amazing.

Oh, Jim. It hurts. The first part of the date was amazing, and then to be blindsided like that...! I hurt for him.
Author's Response: I know. Trust me. I didn't want to write it. Really I didn't. It just happened. So sad - isn't it? :(
