yay - so glad to see this back! I know how hard it can be to update when you have that little thing called LIFE getting in the way - but I've been waiting for this. It was worth the wait - looking forward to Jim's trip to Philly!
Author's Response: Wow! I am SOO excited to have a review from you! It's kinda like a little leaguer getting an autograph from a professional All Star player or something. Love your stories and it's kinda surreal to see "I've been waiting for this." OK, I'm done gushing. Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave a review!

I was on my way out the door to exercise class, but had to stop and read this update. I'll do a proper review later, but let me just say...YAY!
Author's Response: Thanks! I appreciate the YAY!

Yeah, an update! And a new blog to stalk. SCORE!
Author's Response: Thanks, luchy! And definitely stalk the blog! Kid's a good writer. (I still remember the day his middle school English teacher told me that he said, "I think I'm getting my mom's flair for writing!" Made my day.)

I'm so excited! VB, this was so good. Loved your descriptions of Pam's portraits (so heartwarming), Pam's reminiscing about the ice cream (I agree--awesome flavor) and the building excitement at the end. Great job. Nice to have you back : ) Best of luck to Billy!
Author's Response:
Hi, NanReg! I'm glad you liked the chapter. Glad you liked the Moose Tracks passages ... I really enjoyed writing that part. And yes, it IS an awesome flavor! Can't quite put it up there with good sex but, man, it's just a few steps down!
Thanks for the email, too!

I am so excited!! Pam will be so shocked!
Yay to getting more of this one and CC :)
Author's Response: Thanks, Crystalized! Yep, Pam will be shocked! I was pretty excited to finally get another chapter up, too. Thanks for sharing the excitement with me.

Oh, please hurry! I was giddy with joy when I saw this was updated!! Thanks for doing that amidst your crazy schedule. Tell your son "the best of luck! and thanks for doing that!"
Author's Response:
I'm hurrying! It might take a while for me to tell Billy that people on MTT are wishing him well. though … I think he might be mortified to find out I'd published his blog URL here. He just doesn't understand the whole "proud mama" phenomenon, you know? He already thinks I've told everyone in our county except for the "one homeless person you haven't been able to find." And I guess he's right!
I'll post the next chaper as soon as I can. Thanks for reading!

Oh I don't know which I'd prefer! I definitely miss Cardiac Care but this story is great as well! :) Update either please!
Author's Response: Hi, raspberryjam! Thanks for rooting for both of my stories! I'll finish this one, then get bac to Cardiac Care.

Great chapter, I missed this fic. Sad it's ending alreayd though. would love to see them getting back together and really be happy together.
Author's Response: Thanks, Bayjb. It is so nice to see that people were looking for the next chapter of my story! I really appreciate it. It MUST end, though, or I'll never get back to Cardiac Care. Gifts was supposed to be a minor interruption, not weeks and weeks! Thank you so much for taking the time to review.

I'd actually just been wondering today where you'd gotten to and if we'd ever see a conclusion to this and to Cardiac Care. Nice coincidence.
Anyway, I really like this story. It's a nice change of pace to have Pam and Jim spend some time apart with it being good for both of them.
Author's Response:
Hi, Aiya:
I've been drafting this chapter of Gifts but was not able to sit at the computer and type/edit it for a few weeks. Conclusions for both stories really will be forthcoming! I'm so glad to see people have been remembering my two WIPs! Thanks for taking the time to review.

Wow. Unbelievably good.. You MUST post the next chapter soon! Please!
Author's Response: Thanks, Desslok! The last chapter is partially written, so it SHOULDN'T take a month this time. Besides, the kid's already gone, so I should have more time on my hands now! (Now that I'm done with the crying jags...)

Yay I was so happy to see this story updated. I absolutely love it, the drawings Pam drew of Jim, just perfect. I can't wait for the next chapter where hopefully they'll finally meet!
Author's Response: Thanks, Noodles! I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Hopefully, the next one won't disappoint!

I was really happy to see this one pop up tonight, but now I can't wait until the next chapter. *whines*
I especially loved the "Moosetracks moments," and I can't wait for Jim to get his tuckas to Philly.
Very cool blog, BTW.
Author's Response:
Thanks, jazzfan! No whining - I'm writing as fast as I can! I'm glad you liked the Moose Tracks moments. I was kinda partial to them, myeslf!
And thanks for taking a look at Billy's Malawi blog. I am so proud of him!

I'm SO sorry to hear you're stuck! I really hate to put pressure on you, so I won't say that you're killing me here. Oops, I said it...
Author's Response: Sorry! We've been getting ready for my son to leave for MALAWI, AFRICA! (He's going to volunteer with www.projectpeanutbutter.org for 3 - 9 months.) Been a bit busy. We take him to the airport on Monday ... so maybe next week?

PLEASE UPDATE SOON! (Yes, I am yelling.)
Author's Response:
Thanks for the reminder. As I mentioned in my response to jkfan9989, we're getting our son ready to leave the country. Hope to get going again next week.

Lovely, VB. I can't wait for Chapter 6.
I would say more but I'm in the middle of unpacking and if I stop for too long, I'll never get going again. BAx
Author's Response: Well, I feel flattered that you interrupted your unpacking to read my story! I'm glad you had a good trip...

I really love this story and can't wait to learn what happens!
Author's Response: Thanks, Crystalized!

Definitely still enjoying, VB, and I didn't find it confusing. Love this line although I'm not quite sure why: Two years since they’d spoken a word and here Pam was sending him a picture that said she wanted to have his baby. Also loved your last paragraph. On a roll I hope?
Author's Response: I'm glad you're still enjoying, NR! Unfortunately, I'm feeling stuck again. Trying to get the train moving out of hte station and get Jim the hell out of his office!
Date: August 25, 2008 07:13 am Title: What Might Have Been
This story is too good for you to not update every day! It's pure evil having to wait for the next chapter! I am still completely in love with this story, as well as your other story Cardiac Arrest. Can't wait for more for either story!
Author's Response: Thanks a lot. I'll try to defeat this writer's block and get something worthwhile posted in the next day or so. Thanks for leaving a review. I was more nervous about this chapter than most. I need to get some momentum going in this story...
Date: August 24, 2008 11:26 pm Title: What Might Have Been
Oh definitely still enjoying! Can't wait for an update!
Author's Response: Thank you!
Date: August 24, 2008 09:31 pm Title: What Might Have Been
I am really looking forward to where this goes! Nice work as usual.
Author's Response: Thank you so much!

A little irritated. I think you write wonderfully and I like seeing how you go in to their minds but there's not very much movement. We've been in their heads for five chapters and nothing has really happened. Very much like Cardiac Care. Jim ad Pam were laying in bed for multiple chapters and while we got to see what they were thinking and feelings...nothing happened. We get lots of the story but the story isn't happening.
Author's Response: Ah. Thanks for the honesty. I'll make sure something happens in the next chapter.

I'm hooked. Very interesting scenario, I can't wait to see how it unfolds.
Author's Response: Thanks!
Date: August 24, 2008 06:55 pm Title: What Might Have Been
I really really really really like this story. I always look forward to when any of your stories are updated. My only complaint is that things move really slow. Jim has been sitting at his desk for the past five chapters. It's too cruel.
Author's Response: Moving really slow, like you're getting bored or irritated? I'm glad you say you like the story despite that. Thanks.

Hmm..."an invitation to what might be."
Will he RSVP, and if so, how will he do it?? Can't wait for the next update to find out!
Author's Response: In the next chapter we'll see how Jim responds. Thanks for reviewing! I really appreciate it.

I was so excited to see another update. I made my family leave the room so I could enjoy it in peace. I am so hoping Jim does something about what might be!!
Author's Response: That is too cute! You made me really smile with that comment about making your family leave the room. Thanks.
