Drunk!Pam is freaking adorable. But I hope she doesn't insist on REO Speedwagon being 'their song', because, ew.
This chapter however, was definitely not ew.
Author's Response: Thanks, lisa! I'm not sure she'd insist on it, but like I said in another response, I'm in love with the idea that it becomes a private running joke with them. Another thread in the tapestry that is Pim. Oh jeez, was that ever corny. :P Thank you as always! :)

Another delightful chapter, Little Comment! I got such a kick out of this, because that particular song is my friends' wedding song. It was cheesy when they got married in '87, and it's even cheesier now. You get extra points for keeping our favorite couple in character while inebriated :)
Author's Response: Thanks, my friend! Yeah, my parents are in that high cheese factor too with their song ("We've Only Just Begun"...it was the 70's, who DIDN'T pick that song?). :) Gracias for the bonus points - it's hard to get drunk right and not cliche, so I'm glad you think I got it right. :)

I would not know about being drunk, for I have NEVER, not once, not even a little bit, been drunk. So I would not know about being overly friendly and giggly and telling everyone you love them, and not being able to feel your teeth anymore, and calling up friends at three in the morning to tell them that you love them and miss their faces. Or try to drunkenly make toast and almost set the house on fire. I have never done any of that. So I assume that you got Pam spot on.
Drunk!Pam is adorable. And it's adorable that REO Speedwagon is their song, because come on, all of us, even us indie music lovers, kind of dig some cheesy REO Speedwagon. Plus, I saw them at a Pittsburgh Pirates game this summer and they totally rock for old dudes.
I loved this! Excellent!
Author's Response: Oh, no, bashert, me either. I've never had one too many cocktails and tried to make the argument that Joe Biden should watch the movie Iron Man and use it as a how-to guide on how to rule. Or spun my wheelchair mindlessly in circles. Never ever. ;) Glad you enjoyed this! I agree - everyone has a cheesy music soft spot! Thanks so much! :)

Well, someone was inspired by the ending of Horton Hears a Who, weren't they? ;)
I loved this in first person, to hear all of Jim's mushy thoughts in guy-speak was delightful. This one especially killed me:
To say that I fell more in love with her, watching her not just hold her own in a roomful of smartasses but wrap them around her little finger? It would be an understatement.
Guuuuuuhhhhhh........
I loved their process of picking a song as well, trying to argue each other down from their initial choices. And of course this wouldn't be your fic without a mention of "the boys." Way to sneak them in in a realistic way. Wonderful job!
Author's Response: Thanks buddy! I gotta say, I haven't seen that movie, so I'm not sure the end inspired me. Just my love of cheesy music. Of all kinds. And I do think Pam might share that guilty pleasure, although not to the same degree. Glad I GUHed you! Thank you as always!

The 12-year-old in me really loves this chapter for the BSB references. Okay, fine, *I* secretly love it too. Shush. And yes, I think you did drunk!Pam justice, truly. She was funny and warm and just.. wait.. never mind. Anyway, fabulous chapter.. and extra kudos for the song choice. Which I did not recognize at all. Seriously.
Author's Response: Well, the 28 year old in me still loves the Boys, so no shame here! Thanks so much, and glad you liked this! :)

This was hilarious. I'm so ashamed that I recognized that song right away. I love drunk Pam. Thanks for the morning chuckle.
Author's Response: Don't be ashamed - I chose it! :) Glad you liked this; thanks for such a kind review! :)

My baby is nine months old now, so this time of preparation is a relatively fresh memory for me. You capture it beautifully, that feeling of being yourself but different, of knowing that something momentous is happening but not grasping it yet, so you talk in abstractions and hope you're making the right choices. I love that I can relate so completely but still recognize that this is Jim and Pam. Nice work.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm really happy that, as a real mom, this was relatable. I was a bit worried. Glad you enjoyed it! :)

I LOVE OK GO eeeek :)awesome as always!
Author's Response: They are pretty darn fantastic. :) Thanks so much!

This is so delightfully warm and fuzzy, Little Comment. Just perfect. And now I know that "The Force" is the ultimate name! How can anyone argue with that?! :)
Author's Response: Oh yay, Nan, thanks! I'm glad I got thumbs ups from the moms out there (like you and the fabulous LisaHoo) - I know we should write what we know and all, and being without kids I'm kind of clueless, but Mr. Comment and I have raised dozens of them hypothetically. ;) And as for 'The Force'...um...yeah. We'll just leave that be. ;)

Aww, so freaking adorable.
So true about kids not needing a bunch of that overpriced junk. Mine were entertained for hours yesterday by an empty egg carton and a bunch of circles cut out of old cereal boxes. And you should see them bowl with paper cups as pins. Loving this glimpse into everyday at Casa de Halpert.
Author's Response: Thanks Lisa! Yeah, for real...I'm not a parent, but I just don't get kids' toys anymore. When we have to buy gifts for little ones, rarely do they stray outside the crafty/blocks/books arenas. Seriously, kids can make fun anywhere. Thank you for giving this a read and for such a fun review!

Aww, so adorable!!! Such a perfect mix of humorous and heartwarming, and I love the choice you made to use simple quotations without who said what. It really emphasizes that you can write both characters so distinguishably. (Is that a word? Eh, if it isn't then I've just made it one.) Wonderful job, and snaps for branching out of your comfort zone and writing about kids!! :)
Author's Response: Well thank ya, darlin'! I tried to keep this as streamlined as possible, so I'm happy you thought it worked. (And I think it's a word, so yeah...there you go.) And like I said in another response, these - in my mind - are all discussions pre-pregnancy/kids, but if people want to pretend, that's cool too. Thanks as always, babe! :)

Little Comment, you've done it again. This has actually melted me, all that remains are my hands and they will melt once I've finished writing this (admittedly wierd) review. This is gorgeous and fluffy without being saccharine. Love it, love you, love from me :)
Author's Response: Oh, SS! No! Don't melt - you write the kindest reviews; I can't make it without you! :) Thanks for your sweet review. I tried not to get too corny and sappy, but that last one...eh, whatcha gonna do? ;) All that love back at you! :)

The Force? Ha! Oh, Jim. Nice callback to the first chapter.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'm a total sucker for stories of Jim and Pam and "little ones." And even if I weren't, I'd still think this was cute.
Author's Response: I'm not a big one for kids stories, but I'm a horrible person, so... ;) And it always seems to me guys love ridiculous names for children. Why is that? :) Thanks so much for checking this out!
Date: November 28, 2008 08:50 pm Title: Hypothetically, Mind You...
Super cute! Love the allusion to pregnancy without actually making it about the baby ;)
Author's Response: Thanks! My hubby and I love talking in hypotheticals, so I wanted to extend that to Pim. And while I never intended for her to be pregnant or already have kids during this, it's rather open-ended so people can assume what they'd like. Thank you again!
Date: November 28, 2008 05:58 pm Title: Just When You Think You Got A Hold
Oh wow. The ending had me in knots. But in a good way. You wrote it so perfectly. I loved the progression of this one. Thanks for sharing.
Author's Response: Thanks a lot! This was definitely more angsty, but I was trying to shine a light on why Pam would have been scared to just be honest with Jim about her feelings on that fateful night. I appreciate you reading and reviewing! :)

I love Pam's side of all of this. You've got the perfect grasp on Jim and Pam. He loves whatever she does because she does it, and she wants to make him happy. I'm in awe. Great job!
Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah, his love is absolutely unconditional, and it fortifies her. Just the fact that someone thinks she's good enough is almost enough, for better or for worse. Thanks for the kind words!

I love the buildup to the end of this one. It almost makes us feel like Jim is feeling. He's been waiting so long to say it, we're going through it with him, and when he finally says it (and hears it back), we all feel happy and relieved and excited... and in awe, because he's just plain amazing.
Loved the emotion you put into that one. Great work.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I was working for that building tension and discomfort, so I'm so happy you thought it came across. I'm really glad you enjoyed it! :)

She's done it again! This really turned out well, especially the different similes you used to convey your point. The one about offering to help Roy with his English homework made me cringe (you know, in a really good way). And I especially liked the ending and how everything had come back full circle. Wonderful job!
Author's Response: Thanks! You gave the a-ok, so it's all you. :) I'm really happy you think it turned out okay!
Date: November 20, 2008 11:07 am Title: Just When You Think You Got A Hold
Ah, missed opportunities. This is a lovely little moment from their past (and wow, do I relate to Pam's sweatshirt story. It was shoes, for me, but...yeah. Middle school was hard). Someday in the happy present they will see something that reminds them both of the first video and only her of the second one and she'll have a moment of regret that melts in his smile. I just love this- you're making me make up fic to follow-up your fic!
Author's Response: Ha - you're cute! :) Thanks so much...yes, I think we've all been in Pam's shoes in that nasty middle school flashback. Well, except me. I was always cool. *eyes shift quickly* ;)

I love this chap because it's so relatable, LC. Who hasn't felt a little behind the cool curve?
Author's Response: Thanks! To answer your (probably rhetorical) question, everyone. I think that's why Pam always felt close to Jim - because he was a dork, too; totally unlike the cool guy Roy no doubt was in high school. She could be herself. And yet, it almost had to sting more when - even unintentionally - Jim reminded her how not cool she was. /long-winded spiel. ;)

Congrats on the blue ribbon!!!!!
Author's Response: Thank you very much! It's my second one, and quite frankly I'm still in shock I got the FIRST one! :)

"...because now she lives her dreams for two." This line really struck me. To be honest, my first thought when I read it was how similar it is to "You're eating for two now." As if Pam is pregnant with dreams or something (horribly weird analogy, I know). It is also a beautiful line. Pam does not want to disappoint Jim, and so she keeps doing the New York thing because she wants him to be proud of her. But Jim will always be proud of her, no matter what she does. I think this was a great explanation of why Pam came back. You hit the nail right on the head. I would love to see a follow-up chapter or something about Pam realising that she doesn't need to prove anything to Jim; that she gave New York her all, but in the end, where she belongs is in Scranton, creating doodles that make Jim laugh or designing posters for Michael's newest stunt. Well done!
Author's Response: Thank you and no, not a weird analogy at all - I was going for the power that that type of sentiment conveys. :) I kind of consider the show itself as the follow-up; what I wanted was to give the backstory as to why she'd be OK with coming back that way.

Perfect!
It took a long, twisty road to get there, but it was so worth it in the end. I loved how you started the story talking about movie characters and then ended it with the Leia/Han quote. Well done!
Author's Response: Thanks a lot! I tried to keep a theme going without letting it overwhelm the piece. I'm glad you liked it! PS, I remember reading the book from which your name comes waaaay back in fifth grade - love it! :)

My husband said at the end of this episode that Pam wasted three months and thousands of dollars and came home empty handed. I disagreed, for the same reasons you've depicted in this story. Well done.
Author's Response: Well thanks, and high five for disagreeing with our husbands! :)
