I really, really enjoyed that... and I can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Thank you so much, kgreene! Much appreciated!

Really beautifully written! I love how you create the illusion that hours are passing in their little exchange, even though it's only a couple seconds. I love all the mystery that's there too; you really got across how much she doesn't know about his life and how she wants to know more, but at the same time she doesn't, or rather, can't. Lovely start!!

Author's Response: She was kind of a mystery, even to herself back then, wasn't she? Thanks much, Dundie All-Star - really appreciate your comments!

Oh Colette - you know I adore you but it never hurts to be reminded exactly why.  I lost my breath for a second there myself.  You have this incredible knack for taking the quietest and smallest of moments and spinning them into something fantabulous.  And because you do, now I'm greedy.

Write quicker.  :)

Author's Response: Mutual adoration society, then. Thanks so much, always a relief knowing you're on board, you greedy thing. I really hadn't been feeling fic-ish in ages, then kaboom - there was this. Go figure.Writing as fast as I can...good to know you're out there, waiting ;-)

Oh I love this in so many ways.

There is the obvious freckle itself.

In addition, it's really interesting to see Pam try and "explain away" her attraction to Jim, and to see how she managed to rationalize torturing him, because she had to know he was attracted to her. I've always wondered how she reconciled that in her own mind.

I can't wait for the next installment.

Author's Response: Yeah, I always got the feeling she had plenty of explanations...she really did put that boy through the ringer, didn't she? But ultimately, she paid the price. Ah well...onto the next chapter. Thanks so much, jazzfan!

Okay, so I'm a guy...so I'm not going to get all 'gah gah' about Jim's freckle.  But, I do love the idea of exploring what's going on in Pam's (seasons 1 and 2) mind about just what it is she thinks is going on between her and the young paper salesman.  And using something as seemingly insignificant as a single freckle (but a freckle that seems to pack an obviously sexy wallop) as the focal point of that exploration is both clever and brilliant...and, in your able hands, great fun as well.

Author's Response: Why thank you, Mr. Bill...and I'll tell you a secret: this story isn't really about Jim's freckles anyway, so your lack of 'gah' is just fine. ;-) Glad you're  enjoying this exploration - I'm having fun writing it!

*claps wildly* bring on the unnerving freckles!! This was great - you can practically feel them standing there frozen, staring at each other :) Can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Love hearing you could practically feel them there...just what I hoped. Much appreciated, untherapy!

Awesome. I'm so glad you're writing the freckle series. I cannot wait for the rest. I got a bit of a hot flash there as well. Good stuff!

Author's Response: SO funny that, as Blanca said, the freckle is such a Thing. Who knew it was so commonly recognized, lol? Hot flash? Yowza. More on the way, I hope...many thanks, Elle!

Wow, I just loved this! My favorite line...

She felt the gentle throbbing beneath the surface quicken almost imperceptibly. It occurred to her that she couldn’t get that intense a reaction from Roy if she reached out and grabbed his crotch.

I can't wait for the rest of it!

Author's Response: Thanks so much SkeetSchruting - glad you're enjoying this!

I knew this was going to be good as soon as I saw your name, but the line, "She's engaged, not dead," absolutely clinched it for me. I thought, "Ooh, this is going to be good." And boy, was I right.

She really didn’t give his love life much thought.

Oh, S1 Pam. So stubbornly deluded. In a way, this reminded me of Pam's line in Casino Night about how being with Jim took away all the stress of planning her wedding. If only she had listened to herself talk (or think) she might have gotten a clue a lot sooner.

Here's a major hint, Pam:
It occurred to her that she couldn’t get that intense a reaction from Roy if she reached out and grabbed his crotch.

Also, that line just made me giggle.

It's always fun to go back the sexual tension of those days, and you've managed to capture that perfectly here. From the other comments, I understand that The Freckle is a Thing. I never knew that before, so I thank you for bringing something so vital to my attention. Now, like Pam, I'm sure I won't be able to stop noticing it.

Can't wait for more. I never knew freckles could be so interesting.

Author's Response: Wish I could take credit for being at the cutting edge of The Freckle 'Thing', but truth is - I didn't realize it was so widespread myself until I read these reviews, lol. Go figure. Good observation between that CN line and her attitude here...exactly. Anyway, hope you'll stay tuned for S2-5. I promise, a clue is on its way ;-) Thanks so much, Blanca!

Just seeing a new story by you has me practically salivating with anticipation- and this chapter didn't disappoint! I'm really excited to see what you come up with for every freckle each season =)

A new story!  Yay, colette.  You just have a way to make the page melt with tiny details.  That was just.. yummy.  Glad to see we'll be getting more parts of this story.

Author's Response: Yay back at you, MA! I's fun doing the fanfic thing again...pleased you're looking forward to more. Soon, I promise ;-)

What a sexy little ditty you've written here.  And based on my photographic evidence in the fic thread, I agree that with one finger, Pam could definitely feel his carotid pulse at that spot.  And its acceleration at her touch.  Eeeeee.

And no, Pam's not going to be thinking about THAT possibility of why he's late for work, oh no, no.  Ha.

Silly S1 Jim and Pam.

Author's Response: Hee! So glad to have your expert medical corroboration ;-) I admit, I stuck my finger on that point on my husband's neck to make sure, and the good news is it worked. The bad news is he looked at me like I was insane. What else is new? Ah yes, S1 - such a couple of lunkheads. Glad you're along for this trip down memory lane. Thanks, EH!!

First of all, I actually said "Oh my God" aloud while alone in my living room when I saw this on the front page.  I was excited, not only because there was something new from you (because that always makes me happy) but also because I've been waiting for this. :)

This is perfectly lovely.  Even though so much of Pam's dialogue is her own head, the tension is still palpable and delicious.  As if that were not enough, her awareness, even then, of the effect she has on Jim is an amazing touch.  Pun totally intended.  Thank you so much for sharing this.

Author's Response: No, thank YOU, WalkInLove. Really pleased those feelings came across and totally flattered that you were excited to see this. Many, many thanks!

Wheeeeeeeeeee!  Christmas is coming early!  You have teased about this, Colette, and you're still teasing.  The only complaint I have is that you didn't include a visual *subtle hint*  ; )

It wasn’t even intentional; it was like her arm had a mind of its own. Unintentionally-Bold!Beesly, precursor to Fancy New Beesly?

I look forward (so much) to following this.

Author's Response: Yes, definitely her precursor...from back in the days when I wanted to hit her over the head with a mallet and scream WAKE UP!! And, I think you have a pretty good imagination on that visual, NanReg...can't fool me ;-) Thanks so much - so pleased you're pleased.

Oh this is exactly the kind of gem that I've been missing from you!  It reminds me of that orange porch light that you wrote about once that was about so much more than a porch light...and here we have a freckle that will be so much of Pam's undoing. The way you describe the moment when Pam reaches out to touch the shaving nick and his pulse quickens...good grief -- somehow the tiniest little thimbleful of sexy, packed a bigger wallop then the bucketfuls that we all sometimes write about (sometimes necessary). Can't wait for more. :-)

Author's Response: Aw, you're too sweet. But, while it's true that my stories tend to obsess on small details, alas, I can't take credit for the porch light. I do remember that fic and it was a good one, but I can't place the author (nomadshan, maybe?) No matter...love what you said about a thimbleful of sexy packing a wallop. After all, lets face it, J/P weren't exactly at the bucket stage in S1 ;-)Thanks as always, my friend - always a thrill to hear from you!

How much do I love that you're the one to tackle The Freckle? :) I love how she's justifying noticing things about him. Her art teacher told her to notice things, indeed. How aware she is that she's notwatching him. How firmly she really doesn't think about his love life. Oh, boy.

Glad to see you back, Colette--I can't wait for the rest of them! :)

Author's Response: Nope, she barely noticed him. Not at all ;-) Good to be back - and thanks for the encouragement, callisto! (And how funny is it that The Freckle is capitalized, lol?)

Good golly -- the FRECKLE!  Oh happy day, colette is writing about the freckle!

"His fingers, not the pencils."  BWAH!  I also loved imagining Jim talking about living dangerously.  Which of course, he did every time he strolled up to reception in S1 & S2.  And how it probably unhinged Miss Pam.

I suppose we'll need to dig up photos of the famous freckle to get the next chapters...

Author's Response: Bet you were starting to think I was all talk and no action with delivering The Freckle ;-) And ITA, Pam was never quite as oblivious as she tried to convince herself. Unhinged indeed. Glad you're along for the ride - more freckles soon. Thanks, lisahoo!
