Oh my God, this was SO GOOD. i didn't think anything could rekindle those season 2 feelings in me, but this really, really did. I love all the details you've invented here, and your MARK characterization is fantastic. And my favorite favorite thing is the way you write Jim -- his perception of himself as a loser, all insecure and imperfect. It's so so likable and so much better than a lot of the Jim characterization you see out there. Just fantastically done!

I love stories that have Jim and Pam apart but still thinking about each other. It's an illicit thrill to think of them connecting like that, a phone call on NYE. They just can't keep away.

Finally had a chance to read this and glad I did - one of the best I've read here in a while. Don't have time to go into much detail at the moment, but I think you really captured that achey breaky S2 thing. Jim's whole resigned deal with Katy and he and Pam hiding out talking via cell...just so subtly melancholy. Really felt this one.

as he laughed and felt something heavy in his gut.
Very descriptive turn of phrase! Mind if I borrow it? :D
his resolution had been the same for 2003, 2004, and 2005, a depressing march of years... It’s only seven-and-a-quarter hours since 2006 began, but his New Year’s resolution already lies in pieces, all around him.
Poor Jim. That says SO much about him and Pam's relationship. Or non-relationship. I liked this story very much. You made me remember how much I ached for poor Jim. In a good way. Thanks for this story!
Author's Response: You may certainly borrow that phrase! I feel rather honored. :) I'm glad you enjoyed and yes, poor S2 Jim.

I really enjoyed this. Your imagery is done very well and not maudlin or OTT, and I love Pam's mental journey.
Author's Response: Thank you! I always do worry about getting ridiculous with the angst.

wow, bigtunette, this is so descriptive. Not that it's an unhappy ending, but very appropriate for what was going on during that time in S2. And bonus points to you because I love A) any story that features Mark (probably the most popular character who will never be seen or heard from again), and B) Yuengling! It's way underused in Office fic, because anyone who's ever set foot in PA should know it's practically the state beer, so I guarantee it would be a fave of Jim and Pam.
Author's Response: Yay, thank you! I go to Haverford, so I am rather well-acquainted with the wonders of Yuengling and Crazy Governor Rendell. Glad you enjoyed the story!

Really enjoyed this, bigtunette. Excellent job. Bonus points for referencing Love Actually :) Happy New Year to you!
Author's Response: Thanks! Hope you're having a wonderful New Year's as well. Yay, Love Actually! :)

It is easier to enjoy the angst now that we know that there's a happy ending. This is great work. Your imagery is particularly good.
Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah, because Jim and Pam are happy together, and I definitely don't want to write a story where they break up, I find myself returning over and over again to S2 and S3. I'm glad you enjoyed!
