i was cautivated for "baby, its cold outside" that i decided to read all of your stories...i thing i've already readed some of them..i think i'll do it again xD. i little observation on this one though, in the part “Et tu, Beesly?” are you mixing french with spanish?? cuz if its french it " et toi" and if is spanich is "y tu".
and yes i know im "correcting" you when my english is obviously soooo bad!. but i thing its always good learning. so you are totally welcome to do it with me. that was a unintentional TWSS.

Author's Response: Hi dmbd, I am flattered that you are reading more of my stories. Thank you. The "Et tu" is from Latin - used in Shakespere's work Julius Caesar - "Et tu Brute?" (You too, Brutus?)as Caesar's last words.

Since I'm totally loving you, I'm going back to re-read all your stuff. Hope ya don't mind ;)

This was a bit sad, cause you could feel how foolish he felt. Made me want to give him a hug.

Hypohumorosity- brilliant! She should have been a doctor, with her complete knowledge of the lesser known diseases!

Author's Response: Thanks so much, Andastainonmyshirt. It's really fun to get reviews after something's been posted awhile. Yeah, I wanted to give Jim a hug that night, too, and that's why I wrote this.

How did I bloody miss this one?!! jazz, this is so lovely. You've given us: a)a novel insight into the inner-workings of Jim Halpert's mind (past and present) and b) some great writing. Thank you. I think this may be my favourite of all your current stories. Yes, I love it that much! :)

Author's Response: Aw shucks, BA, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it - it was fun to write this one.

I just reread this AGAIN, jazzfan.  This is just gorgeously written.  So many wonderful little details ... the frogs, the barn owl, the wonderful mispronounciation of ichthyosaur.

You know I see huge progress from the first chapters you had be beta through what you're writing now.  You write with a lot more confidence now, I think.  Kinda cool!

Author's Response: Wow, thanks VB. I'm glad you see improvement - I do feel like I'm improving - but I have a long way to go before I get where I'd like to be. Thanks for the encouragement.

Great job. My heart broke for Jim in this episode and I like how you showed us the away from the cameras view of how Pam helped him through it.  That Mr. Westner was a total jerk to our little boy Jim!

Author's Response: Kaystar, my heart broke for Jim in that episode too, and my therapy was writing this. Not much about Jim that a little Pam can't make better, afterall. (We've all had a Mr. Westner in our scholastic careers, haven't we?) Thanks muchly for your read and review.

Wow.  You posted this while I was on my African Adventure and I totally missed it.  Just came across it today because I was looking at someone else's reviews.

It is so quiet and yet arresting.  I can totally see Pam & Jim having this conversation.  Having this idea that Jim was mentally reverting to that fifth grader makes his inability to just dig himself out that day seem more plausible.  It happens to all of us sometimes, under the right (or maybe wrong?) set of circumstances, we feel ourselves slipping into this inadequate version of ourselves we've been at some point in the past … and we just fail to perform at our normal level for a while till we regain our bearings.

I love that Pam lifts the funk just a wee bit with the I love you, Itchy Sore.  That was adorable.

Author's Response: Thanks VB, I'm glad you thought it was a reasonable explanation of Jim's reactions to Charles and that Pam and Jim's conversation was realistic. (My hobby seems to be the psychoanalysis of Jim Halpert, doesn't it?) Guess I should have been finishing that other story, but this just grabbed me and I had to write it, I felt so for poor Jimpert. (Still haven't heard about that African Adventure... *taps fingers on counter*) Thanks for the review.

Just catching up with some reviews and wanted to mention how much I liked this story, especially since, like you, I was a dino nerd myself (way before Jurassic Park made it "cool"). I could spell the names, but sometimes screwed up the pronunciations too as in, I used to think the emphasis was on the third rather than the second syllable of "diplodocus".  So I can sympathize with young Jim here.

The whole scene on the patio was great, totally in character, as Pam waits patiently for Jim to open up and talk.  I could feel the chill as it got darker and hear the frogs as they shared their thoughts quietly.  Sweet.

Author's Response: *hi fives EH the dino nerd* You mean it's not really di plod doc'cus? *is shattered* Thanks also for your comments on the patio scene - it's gratifying to know you found it in character and that the description worked. Thanks so much for your review.

Aw, this was precious. I felt sooo bad for Jim in that episode, and Minor sucks!!!!

Author's Response: Thanks SarahPlainandTall, yeah, I think we all felt for poor Jim. I do think he'll get a payback before Minor leaves though. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Hypohumorosity -- Cute story. Nice job.

Author's Response: Thanks MyriadProBold, glad you enjoyed it. Hypohumorosity can be debilitating, afterall.

Really, really enjoyed this.  What a picture you painted of young Itchy Sore. I wanted to kiss it and make it all better....but that Pam of course beat me to it. ;-)  Very plausible backstory on Jim's patterns with those in authority. I loved it.

Author's Response: Hey LoveFool, I'm delighted you enjoyed this. If you wanted to give LittleBoy!Jim a hug, I guess I did something right. I found young Jim pretty easy to write, because let's face it - in many ways, Jim Halpert is still LittleBoy!Jim. Thanks for the review.

That was a wonderful little story and a great explanation of why Jim responds a certain way to aggressive authority. I enjoyed how you had Pam handle him in this as well. Their communication pattern seemed very in character and dialogue, real and original. Authority like that makes me tense and I'm curious how the show will play out this storyline. I'm hoping that this becomes a series delving into this aspect of Jim's character. I liked it very much. Thanks for sharing it.

Author's Response: Elle, I'm glad you found this in character for Jim and Pam. I'm curious about how the show will play this out as well. If there's another instance as the show progresses that I can imagine backstory for, I'll try and make it a series. rnI'm of a mind that Young!Jim needed an extra hug or two somewhere in his past. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.rn

Oh, poor Jim. You really made me feel him throughout this, jazzfan. I love the quiet, contemplative mood you set out on the patio with the two of them. And we all know that Pam is the perfect balm for what ails him. Great work.

Author's Response: I felt so bad for New Boss!Jim, I just had to see Pam made it all better somehow - because she's the one who can. *grin* I'm happy you liked the mood on the patio. I've been trying to get more "descriptive" with my writing, and I'm excited to think I'm making some progress. Thanks, Blanca, appreciate your comments.

Very sweet, Jazzfan. It captured nicely the sense of awkwardness and vulnerability that the episode suggested. An essential part of Jim that is oft overlooked.

Author's Response: Thanks Guten Tag. I've always been intrigued by Jim's uncomfortable reactions in those situations and wondered why? It's the vulnerability behind the cool laid back exterior of Jim that makes him so interesting, at least to me. Thanks for reading and commenting.rn

I really like the story Jim tells - that same sort of thing happened to me when I was in 5th grade too! Except I hadn't shown the teacher up - she just didn't think a 5th grader could have written my paper as well as I did; and like Jim, I didn't know what plagiarism was then either! I never knew that sort of thing happened to anyone but me!

Author's Response: I was hoping this experience would resonate with folks. I mean, who hasn't had at least one bully, control freak, evil monster of a teacher in their lives? And we remember the injustices of our youths forever. I'm glad you enjoyed the story, and thanks for your comments.

That was very cute. As I watched Thursday, through tears of laughter, I kept asking, 'How does he {Minor} not see that this is HIGH-LARRY-US!?!'

Author's Response: Indeed, Charles is missing a funny bone to be impervious to Jimpert's charms, is he not? Thanks for your review, I'm glad you liked it.

See, now this is what would have made that episode go over a lot easier.  I'll consider this the 4th deleted scene.

Love the details about Jim the dinosaur nerd, the head tilt to 'hold' Pam's hand on his shoulder and "hypohumorosity", another disease DM's health care plan needs to cover.

Author's Response: I think Charles Minor is in definite need of treatment for his hypohumorosity. *grin* There's something wrong with a man who can resist the Jimpert charm. I'm flattered you'd consider this a 4th deleted scene. It sure would have been nice to see Pam shore Jim up a little after that horrible no good very bad day. Thanks for your comments lisahoo, much appreciated.

Firstly, I'd love to see you continue this, it was amazing and the way you descrived that little dinosaur loving Jim, god it was perfect and just how I imagined Jim as a little boy.

"He laid his head down sideways, embracing their hands between his head and shoulder" < I could picture it as I was reading it and man, that is hard for me to do, but as soon as I read that I was on their patio with them aw =)

Continueeeeeee!!!

Author's Response: I'm happy I got elementary school Jim right for you, Hannah-Halpert. You know he had to be a cute little smart alecky kid. But I'm especially happy you could picture them on the patio. Music to my ears. rnI don't plan to continue this story, but if I can think of another backstory for Jim in the future, I'll add it and maybe make it a series. rnThanks!

Wow, nicely done. This part: "he laid his head down sideways, embracing their hands between his head and shoulder". A couple's sign of solidarity. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Author's Response: I kind of liked the idea of them reconnecting that way, without talking about it - exactly as you put it - a nonverbal sign of solidarity. rnI'm glad you liked the story, and I appreciate your comments.

How clever was this? I could so imagine young Jim, kind of smart alecky, but well-intentioned and sweet and funny - nice back story. Also that final exchange about Minor having his sense of humor surgically removed - and Pam's quick retort - was perfect. (Nice connection to that scene in LC-2, where Jim tells Dwight about his dad taking him the the Museum of Natural History and buying him a plastic dino too.) Really enjoyed this!

Author's Response: Thanks Colette. Since I have a sordid past as a dinosaur nerd myself, that scene in LC 2 really made me happy, and I decided to incorporate it into this story. I find Jim an interesting character - bright, likeable, and yet somewhere in the past, he's been conditioned to avoid conflict and is terrified to himself on the line. Something happened. But what? rnAnyway, I'm delighted you liked this, and thanks for the review.

Hey jazzfan great story but just wondering.....

Do you plan on finish "Someone to watch over me"??

I think you had a lot of us on the edge of our seats

Author's Response: Hi dunder mifflin this is pam. I owe the "Someone" readers a huge apology, but the truth was I was working on that story yesterday (it's coming right along) and I got the idea for this one and it sort of seized me. I needed to get this one done before Thursday because I'm sure the canon will change somehow. Does that make sense? Anyway, I apologize for the "Someone" cliffhanger, and assure you I'm working on it, and it's not that far from done.rnrnThanks for reading and reviewing!
