Excellent chapter, JAMhands!!
And he had clung to that buoy all night long, bobbing along on waves of hope that he had dared not ride before. ~ Loved this!
Thanks so much for the update!!! ;)

This is great ... and I'm so pleased you didn't make her run from one to another. She does need that time on her own. Loving your writing (I'm reading all of your stories at present!).
Author's Response: Yeah, I don't like the ones that transition too quickly from Roy to Jim. She would need a little time to mourn that relationship. Thanks so much for reading!

I usually try to leave comments for every chapter of a multi-part story, but I was too caught up in this to stop! I love your characterizations, here, your use of details we got later in the "real" timeline (Jim's tendency to burst forth unexpectedly, for example), and your deft use of sentence structure and word choice. This is an AU that feels real, because we know that in many respects, this is exactly what happened, emotionally if not in the actions. Lovely, lovely.
Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much for such a lovely review. I am so happy that you are enjoying it, I love trying to crawl into the characters' heads.

Another fine chap, JAMhands, full of tension and uncertainty. Great job describing Pam's departure, Roy's cluelessness and Jim's anxiety. Looking forward to the next installment already!
Author's Response: Thanks Nan! I wanted them to all be in different places in this chapter, so I'm glad that it came through for you! I appreciate you!

Man...stupid, stupid Roy. I sure hope Pam is brave enough to call it quits for good. Update soon, I'm enjoying this story a whole lot!

Beautiful chapter. Roy is a putz.
I especially enjoyed the Jim/Oscar exchange and the way the men most surely would have bolted away at their first opportunity.

The conversation was beautifully done and the idea of Jim pulling the hat over Michael's ears just made me smile.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I love throwing little things like the hat in there.

That was just... I don't even know. I go away to sunny, 95 degree Vegas for a week, and I come home to this, and it makes being back in rainy, cold Boston absolutely worth it.
“Nah, it’s just, I’m not…” he stammered. to "There you go…” he muttered under his breath.
That? That entire scene? That sums up every single thing I prayed for watching TO on my couch that night. How Jim just looked at her on the boat, and you knew exactly what he was thinking... wow. That was awesome. Please continue this soon - I'm on the edge of my seat!
Author's Response: Sit back, St. Joe, there will be more! Thanks!
