This is lovely. So many great little details - the fact that Jim has clearly been frantically trying to confirm that this wonderous thing is okay is a nice touch. It's just a really nice moment of sunshine after a journey that was at times pretty dark for these two.
Author's Response: JKras' face when Jim is realizing that Pam is pregnant informed every line of this fic. Joy, wonder, mind-blown...they deserved their sunshine. I remember liking this one a lot at the time. I think it holds up. :)

I know this is not a new story but I had to comment. This is perfect, from the first line to the last. You captured not only what pregnancy is like (at least what it was for me) through Jim's observations, but hit upon all the things Pam could and would be feeling having the pregnancy before the actual wedding. I loved the mention about asking before they found out, a small but monumental detail. Loved how he talked about her changing body and her concern about what she would wear to their nuptials. Loved how he's doing his research and trying to take care of her as best he can. I'm on the precipice of an empty nest with one off to school next year (we hope with all going on now) and the other here for only 2 more years after that, so stories like these that bring back memories of what it was like while they were still just miracles in the making are even more meaningful to me. I'm so glad I came across this beautiful snapshot. Well done.

My kids are younger than yours, but it was still a while ago when I was going through all of this-- and yet it really does feel vivid in my mind. That excitement and nervousness and sense of possibility. And exhaustion. I had never been tired like that in my life! :)

This story was all kinds of wonderful. So sweet and so romantic and so Jim. I loved him making a dinner that won't repulse her, and this line especially:
"Or, most amazingly, that this extreme fatigue, champion-level peeing, and constant nausea are all perfectly okay things".
I really liked that he was glad he proposed before they found out about the baby - and this part, "I think you knew, already, that I wanted forever with you, but I'm glad we had it settled. " brought tears to my eyes.
You always have such a beautiful way with words and this is no exception.

So utterly sweet and heartwarming. I've always like reading fics about Jim's thoughts (and Pam's too) and this...about how crazy he is about Pam, how unbelievable it is to him that she's having HIS baby...this was so perfect. And I smile reading this part: "You are beautiful. Even with that teeny bit of drool at the side of your mouth as you sleep." ::sigh::
Great job! Also, wouldn't it be great if there's a deleted scene of something like this? Pam falling asleep at her desk while Jim's smiling and looking on. ::swoon::

I know I almost fell asleep at work several times when I was pregnant, so I could totally see that as a scene on the show!
