Great line. This story was lovely. And I really like the way you ended it with Jim's dream come true.

Don't stop doing throwbacks, because they are awesome! I love this time period, for one because I'm a sucker for angsty things, and also because this stuff is so ripe for storytelling! I love what you've done here. The little details- the pink dress and his empty apartment- really make the story.

this is one of the best, simplest things i've read in so long here. cheers to you, this place needs more things like this piece. the ending made my heart skip, i'm not gonna lie. thanks for bringing back season 2/3 with this! amazing.

*sigh* So good. I for one LOVE S3 and early S4 for fic....it's just my favorite period of time to get in their heads for and it's just so intriguing to me.
I would think that this is exactly how Jim had been feeling at the time. This was beautiful. So good.

Oh Wow. I do so LOVE your writing. I could literally quote this entire piece, but instead I will choose just one section:
He wishes sometimes that he had never met her. He could still be out there, wondering if soul mates exist, wondering if there truly is one perfect person for everyone. He could be talking to his friends about how he just hasn't met the right person yet, about how he thinks that love at first sight is kind of for suckers, laughing about how he just can't commit to anyone. Instead he knows that there is one perfect person for him, he knows where she is, who she is, and he knows what kind of yogurt she likes and how she takes her tea. And he can't have her. And sometimes he hates her for that.
God, that's perfect. Exactly how he must've been feeling. Like she'd taken away something that was sort of almost a "right" as a human being. Like they'd been made for one another and she was going against the laws of nature or something! UGH, I love this. You are a superb writer!

Happy New Year, bashert! I've been away from MTT for a week, making merry and all that, and it was an absolute delight to see a new story from you. Boy oh boy, did I love this. There's a part of me that loves angst (when it's written this well). The image of Jim in Stamford enduring a visit from his mother is heartbreaking. As a mom, it really tugged at my heartstrings. I hope I never see my son like that! I'm so happy that you gave us that sweet, first-date ending, tying in Jim's dream. Great job, my friend.

bashert, this was so heartbreakingly beautiful. there were about a million lines i picked out to say were my favorite. if there was ever a story that made me miss the old jim and pam, which i didn't think was possible, this was it.
