This was a great characterization of Jim. When you're really crazy about a girl, you want not only to be her present and future, but her past too.

Wow, callisto, I've been really busy and I saw this was up, but I've been holding off so I could savor it in peace and quiet. You did not disappoint. This rings so true, and is so very believeable and lovely. Perfect characterization, clean, descriptive writing. I love it. And I laughed out loud at this, because I'm twelve:
“And look…yours is bigger,” she adds, with a wicked grin

Great job!

This was so great, short and sweet. I really loved this part,
Her memories with Jim are edged in sharp relief. His posture, his tone, the glint in his eyes, are etched into her mind’s eye with a clarity that defies the monotony of their time together in the office. The few moments they escaped to be themselves, away from co-workers and cameras and fiancĂ©s, made the best days. Nearly all her best memories from the past five years are bound in some way to his eyes, his smile, their shared laughter. His unerring ability to make her smile, even when she doesn’t want to.
I also like how she doesn't jump to any conclusions when he says he's a horrible person. I enjoyed this a lot, your writing style flows perfectly, and hope you post something again soon!

Wow, that's such a different ending that what I predicted, but I really love it all the same! I'm so glad Pam didn't get angry with Jim for looking at her things and that he did tell her. It would have been awful it he'd lied to her or kept it a secret. Anyways, this was such a great little story, and as always, I'm so glad you went with an original idea - it gets so boring reading the same subject over and over again! Great job, callisto!

Yeah, that's the bad thing about snooping. You sometimes find what you think you want to find, only to have the realization that you want to un-see it.

Jim's thoughts ring true and that's awesome that Pam didn't get angry with him. It's funny, if a partner were to says "I'm a terrible person" most thoughts go to something really bad (cheating). But Pam isn't worried about that and it shows how solid they are.

I really hope we see another story from you soon.

This was great. I loved all of Jim's actions, mannerisms and inner thoughts - this all seemed very realistic. The way Jim imagined the events occurring and his feelings about them were great. I'm really looking forwards to the next few chapters! I wonder what Jim saved... And if there'll be anything from Karen...

Author's Response: Thanks, pmh! Realistic is always a high compliment. This is just a short little thing, so I hope you like how it ends. :)

Ahh, why has this fic made me nervous lol. Jim, DON'T GO LOOKING THROUGH YOUR WOMAN'S BOX... or at least do it when you know she wont be home for hours ;)

Really looking forward to the next chapter.

Author's Response: Aw, don't worry. This is Jim and Pam, not Ross and Rachel-- it's not going to get too out of hand. :) Glad you like it! Thanks for letting me know.

Callisto, this is just delicious!  I am so looking forward to what Jim discovers in his box.  And I'm wondering if Pam will find out about his snooping and how that will go.

As always, your writing is just pitch perfect.  I love how you have Jim comparing himself unfavorably with his grandfather's bravery.  That seems so in character to me.

Author's Response: Thanks, VB! It's just a short thing, hope you like the rest of it. Thanks for reviewing! :)

Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?

For instance:

After he did muster the courage, turned it into five words that made retreat an impossibility, he decided maybe bravery was overrated. Either way you ended up eviscerated.

Yep, there it is - with a bullet. And apropos, I particularly like the bit about him hiding the box from from Karen...the excessive packing tape is an apt metaphor.

Of course they both have boxes of 'ephemera' (one of the all time great words, btw) and of course thinking about her with Roy still carries that zing for him, and of course he knows - but perhaps still needed her to remind him at that point - that nothing was the 'same' with Roy as it is with him. Just so, missy - and so artfully and succnctly conveyed. Oh, I'm looking forward to the rest of this!

Author's Response: Hey Colette! Thanks for this. You picked out the passage I liked the most in the whole piece-- it's always gratifying to know it resonated. :) And I like the idea that Jim isn't the only one that saves things. This is just a short little thing, I hope you like the ending.

I've always imagined something like this happening, but never could do it the justice you've managed here. I can't wait for the rest, this is great, I love the tone you've set.

Author's Response: Glad you like it, Deedldee. It's just a little thing. Hope you like the rest of it.

I love you.  That is all.

Ok.  Not all.   I love the connection b/t Jim's past and his present in the form of these little mementos. :)   So so very happy to see something new from you my dearest.

Author's Response: Thank you, my friend. :)
