Who knew radiation could be a "source" of fluff. Nicely done!

Even though it's dark, it's still great stuff to read. Your elegant eay of writing never disappoints.

Thank you for putting the brave ideas out there! It's so nice to see Jam prevail and get through really tough times, not just ordinary set backs.

This was beautiful and so carefully crafted but also moving the "plot" along. There are so many reasons that this spoke to me deeply. Thank you for sharing something that is tragic, realistic, and hopeful at the same time. Lovely work.

I think the only word that came to mind while I read this was “beautiful.” You words were so carefully crafted to make this story utterly and heartbreakingly eloquent. Such a beautiful job.

Bless you Dedeen for such a beautiful and poignant story. Thank you for taking the time.
So sorry about your loss.

What a poignant ending. I like how you incorporated other characters into it and had Jim, Pam and Cece have come so far.
Was this story inspired by your uncle? It's lovely. Thank you for sharing it. I'm looking forward to reading more from you.

This was beautiful times infinity. I'm so sad to see it's over, but it had such a lovely ending, thank you SO MUCH for writing this.
I wanted to post all the things I loved from this chapter, but it would have involved copying and pasting the entire story ;)
Adding to my faves. You have fast become one of my favourite authors on here. Keep it up.
*Goes to re read the whole thing again*

"She lays the piece of paper on the coffee table and the two scribbled c’s stare back at me."
- Thats a killer. Great writing, great story!!

Your story was amazing. Thank you so much for writing and sharing. It was scary, it was sweet, it was sad, it really was perfect. And the epilogue you ended with was a wonderful conclusion. Again, amazing.

A beautiful ending to a breathtaking story. I'm so happy to have had the privilege of reading this, your story was so down to earth and honest, while being full of sweet, loving moments. I really loved this ending - usually when a story ends I beg and plead and whine for the author to continue, but it's only when they have done a stellar job of concluding their tale (such as you have done) that I am able to keep my mouth shut. Showing them at a survivor's walk was brilliant, and I loved the characters of Bonnie, Kara and Cindy. I think your best line throughout this entire story was from this chapter, "After Cindy bids us goodbye, Bonnie tells me her daughter died of a malignant brain tumor two years ago. Cece looked like her. A shiver runs through my spine." I felt a shiver, too, reading that.
Congratulations on a wonderful story, and I'm really looking forwards to whatever you come up with next. :) Claire

Hi. I have to be honest, there were parts of this story that tore me up so much I had to stop reading because of the tears. But I truly believe that is a testament to how incredible an author you are. This epilogue was utterly gorgeous. I love them doing this 5K memorial walk, in his honor. I love the little glimpse into both of their minds in the first person setting here, it's so wonderful. I love how they mingle with people, it's truly a cathartic experience to talk to people who are going through or have gone through the same experience as you have. It's so touching, the little ice cream part, where they're all covered in chocolate, and they saved some for Pam, I'm not sure why I thought that was so cute and super sweet. What a touching tribute to your uncle, and what a fantastic wonderfully beautiful way to wrap up this heart-breakingly real story you've created. I love that they're so in love and made it through the worst possible time in their life, and come out seemingly stronger and more in love with one another and their family. Lovely.

As usual my dear, you've done it again. A story that brought me to tears, gripped my heart, made me think of my Nana, my relationship with my parents...so, so amazing.
You have a knack for stories like this. Please, please, please bring us another like this soon.
I don't know what I'd do without the comfort of a story like this, this was like chicken soup the whole way through.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, SO GOOD.

Wow, you really, really like to keep us on the edge of our seats, don't you?
The detail is really impressive here. What kind of research did you do? I loved the Cece rolling over scene, so intimate and adorable. Looking forward to seeing what the epilogue brings.

I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but when Jim get's his breathing tube, out and just says "hi" I immediately thought of drug testing. Especially with Pam's "hey". This story is incredible, my favorite on the site!

Tease!!
Seriously though, thank you for the happy ending.
I'm not sure if you wrote it this way or if I just am hearing it this way in my head but I think its harsh, but well done that in the early parts of this chapter it seems to come out so matter-of-factly. Describing such deep and wild emotions punch by punch, the story is already such a roller coaster, theres no need to add any other frills. Great stuff!

Aww, what a kind of cheesy but really adorable ending. I'm so happy there's an epilogue, because although this ending actually felt complete for once (I'm never satisfied with story endings! lol), I actually liked this one. I just loved when you wrote about Jim's movements, and when he wrote CC in the night. That was beautiful.
Amazing work on this story, and I'm really looking forwards to that epilogue!

Okay, you did it. I'm balling. That was so beautiful and I literally held my breathe while reading parts of it. The past where Jim woke up and wrote cc... you killed me, seriouslyI haven't cried over a fic for a long time.
And him walking and falling and Cece laughing - great :) So ecited about the epilouge and anything else to come from you xx

I randomly decided to re-read this, and realized I don't think I've left a review. This story is so amazing, because while it's intense subject matter, it also feels like a display of the importance of loving your loved ones in the moment, which is Pam's motto at this point in the story. I really hope that Jim survives - I already cried reading just this chapter, I can't imagine how hard I'll sob if he were to not make it! I also think it would be unique to have a tragic story not end tragically, if that makes sense. I look forward to seeing what you do regardless and anxiously anticipate an update!

This was heartbreaking! I thought Jim's side was sad, but putting things into Pam's perspective makes it so much more so. The first time I read it, I cried, and didn't have time to review, but this time, even though I was prepared, I still teared up a bit. I hope another is coming soon.

You are doing such a great job of keeping their responses to this situation and to each other in character. I can just see Jim preparing a dinner like this the night before the surgery. Your phrasing is very good throughout. I'm really hoping you have Jim pull through this but I think you'd handle it very well if you choose otherwise, too.
Date: September 08, 2010 09:48 am Title: Chapter 1
Ohmygod!!! Your writing is so powerful. It elicited goosebumps, sighs and this hard to describe heaviness that spreads from my chest into my stomach especially when I read the part about the dinner being his way of saying goodbye. That produced tears too! Everything about this story is so moving. What more can I say. Thank you does not seem like enough.

This is really, really well written. Keep it going!
Date: September 06, 2010 08:53 pm Title: Chapter 5
Oh my... wow... I was almost crying at the end - when I read that this was Jim's way of saying goodbye. Then when Jim said that Pete was going to take care of everything, he had Cecelia's box and he wanted Pam to be happy... well, that was just hard to read! I trust that you won't take our Jim away from us - you wouldn't do that, would you? But all in all, amazing detail and I am constantly surprised by the amount of emotion you are able to incorporate into your writing. Wonderful chapter, on to number six!

Oh please don't kill Jim! This chapter is so heartbreaking. You did a fantastic job.
