Really?? Are you really just gonna leave us hanging like this? Rude! Just kidding, really good job setting up the next chapter! If I say I'm holding my breath for the next update, will you post it immediately? Okay, hurry before I turn blue!!!
Author's Response: Yeah, it's fun to be torturous like that ;) I'm working on the next one now, so hopefully you won't have to hold your breath too long! Thanks so much for the review. :)

wowwwwiee..can't believe i haven't reviewed this yet! so much awesome in this story - the blue ribbon is well-deserved. i'm loving this so much. please hurry up and continue! :)
Author's Response: YAY, thanks so much. I'm so glad you're enjoying it, more soon. :)

This was just GREAT fun! I think it a PERFECT device in your developing story to reconnect Pam & Jim. I could easily see all the characters being persuaded to play their pranks. Great implied tense conversation at the end there...what WILL Jim tell Karen?
Do you have any idea how many chaps you have planned? I hope it's a LOT!
Author's Response: Thank you, VB, seriously, your review made my day. I'm so glad it worked for you, I really wasn't sure if it was going to play out right, so I'm glad it made sense--yes, it was to help Jim and Pam move their relationship along to at least friends. And yes definite intentional tension between Jim and Karen (as always).
I have 25 chapters planned--I know exactly where this baby is going. (I can't believe I'm almost half way done, I'm gonna miss this one when it's over)

oh, and congrats on the blue ribbon! Very well deserved!
Author's Response: Thanks!!

This is really funny, I have a dopey grin now. I'm not having such a great time around these parts lately so reading this helped. No need for the warning at the top, I think it fits right in, a little light hearted stuff never hurt anyone. Hope you continue soon!
Author's Response: YAY! So glad you enjoyed, more soon! Thanks!! :)

Very good. I liked how you tried mixing it up, it worked :) The prank gone haywire was hilarious. Can't wait to see what you have planned xx
Author's Response: YAY! Thanks for the review! :)

That was a fun break. Poor Jim, having Phyllis and Merideth hitting on him. Of course Creed and Andy are no picnic either. Looking forward to more.
Author's Response: Thanks! Yeah, I wouldn't want a lot of those people hitting on me either. More soon!

Congrats on the well-deserved blue ribbon!
As addicted as I am to the delicious angst, this chap brought a nice sense of relief. I particularly enjoyed Phyllis and Meredith hitting on Jim :D In addition to allowing you to showcase your comedic writing ability, I think you succeeded in moving Jim and Pam's budding friendship forward a step or two. Anxiously awaiting more. Seriously.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the humor. I had a lot of fun writing it and I'll be honest, Meredith's is my favorite. Every time I think of it I crack up. Can't wait to dish out more, thanks again. :)

Yay blue ribbon! You totally deserve it! Fun chapter... NO need for the warning, it was wonderful!
Author's Response: Yay, thanks so much, yeah I was a little surprised when I saw it. so glad you enjoyed it, I was a little worried about it when I put it up. Thanks again!!

Oh, kids, kids, kids! You are only making it more difficult for yourselves! What is gonna happen, Pam, when you can no longer hide the fact that you are incubating a little person who shares half of his or her DNA with your new boss? How is Jim gonna explain to his girlfriend that the dinner he had with Pam didn't really end until the next morning, and he did a really great job taking care of her loneliness?
I think that Pam needs some time with her best friend ASAP! I love the way you've been writing Pam's support system of friends and family and hope that soon you'll let us in on thier take on these new developments.
I am so on the edge of my seat for when Jim finds out about the baby! I wonder, will he be angry with Pam for taking so long to let him know? What will happen with his relationship with Karen?
Author's Response: Hey, thanks so much for taking the time to review, I really appreciate it! Yeah, it's some pickle they've gotten themselves into and Pam won't be able to hide the pregnancy much longer. So glad you're enjoying it, more soon!

:( great chapter, great story. i have really been enjoying it. I'm a little worried about poor Pam. Ca n't wait for the next chapter.
Author's Response: Thanks so much! New chapter soon!

Firstly, congrats on the ribbon. Totally and completely well deserved, as the love for this story.
Secondly, throughout all these season 3 events, I (and everyone in the audience) grew ever frustrated at the behaviour of these two, but more so the circumstance. Many, many times you couldn't help but scream at the TV willing them to just see sense and be honest with one another.
Well this is season 3 TO THE EXTREME! Not only do I want to scream at my laptop, I want to jump inside the story and physically bang their heads together! The situation is far more upsetting than I thought possible - and I mean that in a completely good way because it's truly believable too. I keep telling myself to wait until you've finished because it's seriously not doing good things for my heart. But I just so badly want Jim to know! Argh! It's rare that I get so invested in a story like this so *applause*. This truly wonderful and thank you for the quick updates but honestly, you have to have Pam tell him ASAP. I don't think my heart can hold out much longer!
Ugh...soooooo good :D
Author's Response: Wow, I hope your heart can hold on a little longer! I'm so incredibly flattered that you rate the story so high. It's been a lot of fun torturing you all ;) No, I completely get all the frustration with season three and am glad that it's coming through in the story, which is the intention. Don't worry, this story isn't a tragedy and eventually things will work themselves out. Thanks so much for the review!

No time for a long review but I am TRULY impressed with:
- The speed of your updates!!
- How perfectly you're interweaving S3 into your story with the slightest of modifications. Pretty mean feat, given your premise that Jim and Pam hardly knew each other.
Looking forward to more! Now, I've gotta start working on my resume...
Author's Response: Hey, thanks!! I've pretty much got everything worked out, so updating daily hasn't been a problem...though eventually I will have to go back to real life. lol. Yeah, redoing season three with challenges is the fun of it. So glad you're enjoying it!

You're killing me in the best possible way. This chapter made me sad, not anything you did, but in the same way the episode did. When and how is she going to tell him? She's not going to be able to hide it for much longer!
After reading this, I had to watch a couple of JAM happy episodes to reassure myself all is good in the world! (And that is a credit to your faboulous writing!)
Author's Response: Lol, thank you so much!! I had to watch happy clips too after writing. No, she's definitely not going to be able to hide the pregnancy much longer. Glad you're enjoying it!

I love how you are weaving bits and pieces from different times into this story. You are killing me though. I feel like I need to go watch a happy JAM episode after this chapter. SOOOOOO good though. Thanks for the quick update.
Author's Response: Aww, I'm so sorry it's killing you. Yeah, I literally had to watch clips from seasons 4-7 after writing this just so I wasn't so depressed. so glad you're enjoying it. thanks for the review!
Date: February 22, 2011 02:23 pm Title: Chapter 8
My God, that was almost as bad as the real Merger. :( (This is a compliment.) This story is killing me in the best possible way. How is she gonna tell him?!
I have to say I really love how you're weaving in so many elements from the show in such subtle little ways. Peach Iced Tea. You're gonna hate it. :D It's great; it makes this whole bizarro universe seem totally authentic. And the characters still feel like themselves, which can be very hard to do in AU's. I'm loving this story!
Author's Response: To be honest, I watched The Merger about fifty times while writing it, so I'm so so glad people are responding to this in the same way. Thank you so much for the lovely review! I'm glad you're enjoying the little details that relate to the show, they're the absolute best thing to write. And I'm incredibly glad the characters seem spot on, I try to make that top priority. Thanks so much for the review, I'm glad you're enjoying it!!

Reading this chapter hurt because it brought back all of those awful feelings from this episode. The scene where Karen unwittingly reveals their relationship has heartbreak written all over it, and the story feels so real and believable, which is probably why it's so sad. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Also, loved Jim meeting Dwight for the first time in this chapter. Very clever!
Author's Response: Wow, I'm so glad it felt real to you (well, not glad--but you know) It was a bit sad to write and I tried to keep it close to the source material. Also, YAY for liking Jim/Dwight, I really love writing that and in this story there isn't much of them. Thanks so much for the review!

I rarely get into AU's, but this one hooked me (sat down to read a chapter or two, and ended up reading the whole thing.) I think this works so well because it's so well tethered to the actual show...the 'real' bits you've woven through feel natural and keep the characters recognizable (my usual gripe with AU.) It's like you've deconstructed the story, but kept the essential elements intact and reassembled them in a believable way. Very clever! This chapter screams that old S3 tension - all unspoken longing and frustrating crossed signals. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this next.
Author's Response: Wow,thank you so much for this review. I'm so glad you found the characterization to be spot on because whether it be AU or canon, that is the most important thing for me. Plus, I love having elements of the show in the story because...it is fanfiction, you know? What's the fun if you pull out all the elements of the show itself? Anyway, yes, this is definitely old school tension, which is so incredibly heartbreaking. Hope you stick around for more, thanks again. :)

Oh my goodness. This hurts my heart just as much as The Merger :'(
"And then afterwards slept with her…twice, he added in his head." Ah-ha! I was wondering about that particular little detail.
This story totally owns me, by the way. It's completely engrossing. The idea that Pam is pregnant with Jim's baby has me jumping out of my skin with anticipation! My obsession is growing by leaps and bounds :D OK, that's the end of my crazy rant...for now. ::makes popcorn, waits for more::
Author's Response: awww, I'm so sorry I hurt your head, Nan. I'm so, so glad you're into the story. It's been fantastic to write so far. More soon! :)

My heart literally broke for Pam. Ugh. This shall be very interesting though since her belly will be showing more soon. Great chapter as always.
Author's Response: Mine, too :( Yes, I think people are going to start noticing that she's pregnant. Thanks so much for the review!!

I don't even know what to tell you anymore...Great? Amazing? Awesome? Because it is! I think I'm being repetitive with my reviews... But, You go girl! (I think I haven't said that one yet). Waiting anxiously for the next update!
Author's Response: Aww, Dedeen, I don't care how repetitive in your reviews, as long as you're still enjoying it is all that matters. thanks so much for all the lovely reviews!! :)
Date: February 22, 2011 09:23 am Title: Chapter 8
I'm about to burst into tears too! This chapter made me so sad for both of them. I think you did a marvelous job of making Jim cold, knowing why he's angry, that she never called him seems fitting to the way he acted here. And poor pregnant Pam, getting her hopes up only to have them crushed. I think you hit all the nails on the head in this chapter. At least he explained that he didn't have a girlfriend when he and Pam were together that night. You're weaving quite a story here with your AU and canon, and I'm so looking forward to the next chapter. (do I say that enough? lol)
Author's Response: Yeah, it was actually hard to write, the whole thing was just so sad. Thanks so much for the compliment, I'm glad Jim and Pam came off as sympathetic characters here. And yes, I definitely wanted to make sure that he tried to communicate to Pam that he just wasn't fooling around with her--though things still got mixed up. Thanks again!!

This is awesome. I really got a good sense that, while she may seem like an okay girl for Jim, she just doesn't get him - I got that all from the Italian food thing. I also love how Pam loves the baby and seemingly has no regrets. I'm envious of you and your ability to write a multi chapter story, as I'm currently unable to get on that horse whatsoever. It's slightly frustrating. Reading your story helps. I hope to see a new update tomorrow!
Author's Response: First of all, thanks so much for the review, I appreciate it so much. Nice catch with the Italian food thing ;) That was done purposely. Yeah, I wanted Pam to be okay with having a child so the drama could focus more on Jim and Pam's relationship. If nothing else, Pam always knows she has something that will love her unconditionally.
Okay, I am incredibly flattered that my story is an inspiration. I'm so sorry you're frustrated with your writing, keep at it and just write what comes to you. As frustrating as it can be some times, if you give up completely, you'll never get anywhere. ;) I wish you luck :) And thanks again!

I just wanted to say that I am really enjoying this story. I am eagerly awaiting what happens when Jim and Pam are in the same room again. And what is gonna happen when Jim realizes that the one night they spent means he is gonna be Pam's baby's dad.
And poor Karen and all, but this is gonna get ugly for her and I think she should hit up NYC as soon as possible!
Author's Response: I know, I'm so glad you feel something for Karen, because she really does have the short end of the stick here. I didn't want to make her super evil villain Karen, just a girl just a girl who liked the wrong guy. I hope she gets off to NYC soon, too. Thanks for the review!!

This is such an interesting premise. I like the way you're incorporating the storyline on the show into what's happening here but with a very unusual twist. I'm not sure I've read a story quite like this before. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Author's Response: Thanks! I love intertwining canon and AU, it's so much fun. Glad you're enjoying it, hope you like what's next!
