I'm so glad that you are back! I was wondering where you'd run off to, I hope you had a fun time playing outside over the weekend!
I love the way you're showing Pam and Jim in this new relationship, learning to stay open with each other as well as preparing for upcoming parenthood. Pam's confidence makes me happy, so much of the time Jim is portrayed as the sure one, it is nice to see Pam so sure.
Good job, I look forward to what is coming up next for this growing family.
Author's Response: Thanks so much!! I did have a nice time playing outside. Glad its finally spring again. lol Yeah, I'm so glad to have written Pam being there for Jim. I agree, there are way too many fics that are vice versa and I don't think it gets explored a lot, so it was nice to write it. Thanks so much for you kind words, I very much appreciate them. :)

Do I get a prize for being your 200th review? ;)
I say this in every chapter, but I love how you take things from the show, and make them your own. It's brilliant. ou are a very talented writer :)
Author's Response: Um...how about ten points, a gold star, and a thumbs up? YAY 200! Thanks so much for your kind words, they mean so much and are very encouraging. :) (btw--if you ever don't tell me you like how i weave in canon, i'll assume i screwed up somewhere ;) )

The wig WAS offensive and terrible, and very unJimlike, I'm not a fan of a majority of the episode, including the deleted scenes, though I do like how Jim almost bursts out laughing when Michael "talks" to Toby. Anyways, had to mention that as soon as I read it. scrolling back up.....
I never thought I'd actually say this, or even think it, but I'm glad you gave some closure to Karen and I'm happy that she found her Dan in your story. Again, you gave her a backbone without making her a bitch through the whole story so I have to commend you for making me feel some sort of sympathy toward her.
Jim freaking out about being a father, wondering what would happen if his child turned into one of the bad kids was something I really loved reading. I was going to have a chapter like that for a story I was going to finish, so I don't know, I felt a real connection to Jim there. Pam calming him down was just so so sweet and so Pam, I loved it. I love that his sister in law is throwing her a baby shower, it's so completely sweet, and nice touch on the Dunder Mifflin paper watermark on the paper it was printed on. Clever! Okay this is going to sound incredibly ridiculous because you've written over a thousand words here in this chapter, but my most favorite, along with how she'd love to kiss him every morning for the rest of her life, is this:
“Right, we should do that soon,” he said, thinking it over. “Can we go tonight? I have to do my laundry and I’m out of fabric softener.” She gave him an amused look. “What?” he asked, as if not sure what he had said to deserve that look.
“Nothing,” she said almost with a laugh. He was always surprising her in the best of ways. “You’re just—a big, goofy, dork.” And I love you.
I really really loved this chapters sweetness and tone, and I love that they're getting things together and seem to be on the right track. I hope that there's two months left to her pregnancy doesn't mean that there's only two chapters left! I'm going to so miss this story!! I'm sorry for the long winded review. I'll hush up right now. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tale with us. :-)
Author's Response: Lol, I think you're confusing Product Recall with Women's Appreciation, where John breaks when Michael and Toby have a scene involving penises. (lol-wow, never thought i'd write that in a review response...) I'm so glad you enjoyed Karen's closure! I really, really wanted to write that because I felt like she was a big enough part of the story that it'd be wrong not to give her an ending. I think, more than anything, she was just the unfortunate sole that was in the wrong place and in love with the wrong person... Aww, I'm so glad you liked that small portion. It was sweet and I've been meaning to put something in like that for a while, it seemed a great place to put it there. I'm so glad it meant something to you!! It's all good, write as much as you want ;) Thanks so much for your kind words and your review, they mean a lot!!

Cute ending! :) I liked seeing Pam and Jim start to settle in with each other. And Jim's anxiety over a teenager was a sweet little bit
Author's Response: Okay, so I was going through reviews and noticed that I missed yours. OMG, I am so sorry, I feel really bad. It's nothing personal at all, I'm just a moron. Thank you for dropping a line, it means a lot to me that you've enjoyed the story--and this chapter, which I was always a little iffy on. I thought it would be fun to explore Jim's issues with parenting a little. Glad you liked it!! :)

LOL! Once again, you surprised me--I didn't see that ending coming :D First off, I enjoyed that little bit of closure for Karen. Next, the parents-to-be are working through this so sweetly. I was wondering if you were going to give us Pam's introduction to Jim's family. I'm hoping that's the case anyway. Nice touch to have Marcie throw Pam a shower.
Trying not to think about this almost being over :'( In the meantime, I'm sure you have lots more fun in store!
Author's Response: Shoot, I've gotten really bad about at responding to these. :/ I'm sorry about that. So glad I could surprise you, especially this late in the game! i kinda figured everyone knew where this was heading. Anyway, thanks so much for taking the tie to review, I so greatly appreciate it!!
Date: March 10, 2011 06:59 am Title: Chapter 20
Yeah for their progress! I do feel for Pam having to endure her co-workers prodding though.
Author's Response: Yeah, it's hard to feel happy about something worth being happy about when you are constantly being criticized about it. Stupid coworkers. Thanks for dropping a line, really appreciate it. :)
Date: March 10, 2011 06:16 am Title: Chapter 20
AWW! They're adorable. The beginning - so spot on with the coworkers reactions, as gross as Phyllis' was, I bet it would be something she'd whisper. I love how honest they're being, Pam admitting that it feels right to be with him and how adorable that she asked him if she could kiss him. Loved the interaction between Kevin and Jim, laughed a lot at that, and the Drew thing, spot on too, I could see it all happening. And the awkward moment of the green panties that turned into adorableness at the end was just so sweet and cute and just, lovely lovely lovely. Unshun, shun, so so cute and perfectly them. I can see why this is your favorite chapter. I think it's mine too. I hope there's a ton more of this coming our way, I don't want this story to end!
Author's Response: Aww, thanks for your kind words, means so much!! The Jim/Coworkers thing was probably one of my favorite scenes to write, so glad you enjoyed that. The shun/unshun was pretty fun too, so I'm glad you liked it. I wish there was a lot more too, but, unfortunately, I only have a handful of chapters left. I'm gonna miss this one when it goes. :/
Date: March 09, 2011 09:12 pm Title: Chapter 20
Oh YAY!!!! This chapter, without exception, left me satified and smiling! (and I'm STILL smiling!) I just LOVE that you kept the way that they entered into a relationship so easily and that they just have that nice, easy way of talking to each other and just being with each other.
It just wouldn't be the office if these oddballs weren't extremely inapropriate, seeing to have no internal governor telling them what is and isn't appropriate, would it? From Kelly's belief that ever dating couple is obviously headed for marriage and that of course all you need to do is ask the future potential bride and of course she'd be thrilled to have you as a bridesmaid, to Phyllis who so many treat as this totally sweet jolly happy lady when really, she has made some of the very most snarky comments on the show. I LOVE your portrayal of her first way back in chapter 9 or 10 when she let Jim know that she would be thrilled to have sex with him and basically manhandled his butt, to here where she is so wildly inapropriate with the questions she asks Pam both about the actual act of sex with Jim and also about Jim's personal ummmmm.. boy parts. Meredith, now that made me laugh with how bizarre it is... I just had this picture in my head of Jim and Pam with a newborn, wacking it upside the head several times a day from birth because after all, the baby HAS to know it's place. As far as where Meredith sent her child for daycare or anything else, I'm sure Jim and Pam will be staying far far away from everything and anything Meredith.
Then there was the scene with the guys which you also did SUCH a great job with. Love you having Andy come back and as on the show announce that he is now Drew and people need to call him like that and just like on the show Jim told him, yeah, I don't think so. It kind of cracked me up that Andy feels he can demand that Jim (and everyone of course) call him Drew even as he continues to call Jim by that ridiculous nickname, Big Tuna. You had Keven so completely spot on, hey, now that you are the father of Pam's baby you should totally hit that and Jim's reply was fantastic, Kev, how exactly do you think she got pregnant. Then Danny comes up again and Kein shows he just is not the brightest bulb by asking, what are the chances that both Danny AND Jim are the father? DUH!!! Of course in typically Creed out of nowhere style he comes up with a number, and I LOVE that during this you have Creed eating the red potato. I always LOVED that on the show. I just love that Jim made no bones about it though, speaking up and telling them that the odds wee zero, that he is te father, the ONLY father of the baby. Then you have arogant Ryan who has to pipe in with his two cents and even asks, are you even sure that she's really pregnant? Gee, I guess that will be very obvious soon when she has a baby, as if the fact that she is growing large in her belly area weren't enough evidence. I can really see Ryan saying something like that!
I saved for last Pam's confrontation with Karen. I thought that Karen was really very unfair. IMO Pam was really nice to say anything because in reality, I don't think she had anything to really need to apologise for. That's all Jim. I mean, just like how Jim didn't do Roy wrong because they never knew each other and Roy and Pam were finished before anything happened with Pam and Jim, Pam did nothing to Karen because she not only didn't know her but also Karen and Jim were not yet anything at the time that Pam was with Jim. As a matter of fact, Pam tried very hard to stay out of it and let Jim and Karen be. She could have told Jim the day they showed up n Scranton and it probably would have ended the relationship then. She actually tried to be Karen's friend and even gave Jim advice that while it wasn't totally in favor of Karen's view, it wasn't self serving like it could have been either. On top of that Jim and Pam made a decision to keep things about their new relationship quiet particularly ecause of Karen and honestly, I think Pam would have been justified if she wanted to go public right away. Sort of a declaration that the father of her baby really DOES care about her and want her. I just don't think that either on the show or here, which is totally in character for Karen, I don't think Karen ever took responsibility for the fact that she had to know somewhere in her heart that Jim was never really in the relationship. He made it clear that he wasn't in love with Karen while admitting that he has feelings of some type for another woman. Heck, he didn't kiss Karen for some time and the first time he was willing to have sex with her it was because e was totally trashed yet he met pam, had this awesome connection that caused him to have a one night stand with her that very day they met, you would think that the fact that Karen knows that THAT isn't part of Jim's character would have spoken to her as well. Karen just willingly played blind to anything she didn't want to see and while Jim may have said the things she wanted to hear, I don't think he ever rally said them with a lot of conviction. Karen had to know that he just wasn't really present in that relationship very often, but she chose to ignore that and in the end she wante to be seen as a huge victim with no responsibility for what happened. I think both Jim and Pam seperately and then as a couple went out of their way to be gentle with Karen's feeling but I don't think she really cared about their feelings much at all. Oh well, glad she's quickly making that move to Utica because I'm hoping that Jim and Pam will be able to be out as a couple before the baby makes it's appearance.
Now, the 'scenes' here with Jim and Pam together just made me feel all warm and gooey... well, with one exception and all I need is two words to describe that gag worthy moment... green panties! YUCK! I love love LOVE Pam and Jim going on dates and I thought it was cute when she told him she wanted to have sex with him but there were just all those reasons why it wasn't a good idea right then and it was so cute when it ended with him massaging her feet. VERY Jim and makes it SO clear that the Jim that we all love so much IS in fact back! Oh and Jim saying to Pam what Pam told Erin last season when Erin was feeling so down about Andy, that was totally cute! I just LOVE these parts of the show, some just little things, that you have found a home for here in this story. I could certainly see, after all im and Pam have been through, her questioning if what they now have could really be real. It would certainly have to seem like a bit of a dream. Actually, I went through something a LITTLE like this in real life when I was pregnant with my first only my husband (my husband now for 23 yrs, NOT my husband then by a long shot) DID know about the baby, just hose to deny things. Came complete with him dating someone else while I was pregnant and while we didn't work together, we DID work next door to each other so I got to witness lots of it. After she was born, when she was a month old things came together and I felt very much like Pam in this cene, wondering if maybe I was dreaming and feeling so lucky. (Now I know that sometimes what looks like a dream is really a nightmare, but that has nothing to do with the story so anyhow....)
Then the final scene where they are discussing how Micheal was certainly going to kill himself, with Dwight's help, if he hadn't been talked out of it. I just love that you incorparated SO much from the show into this little scene.... the watermelon, Micheal's almost suicide, Pam's first visit to Jim;s house and her hanging out in his room. The guitar in his room along with Pam's interest in his yearbooks, LOVE the stuff with the shun and unshun, it's just all so great! OHHHH and strumming isn't playing, FANTASTIC paralell to swaying isn't dancing! LOVED that. I also thought it was amusing that Jim said he wasn't sure that they knew each other well enough to share the yearbooks yet they know each other well enough to be aving a baby togethter. That just amused me.
I am really enjoying how you are showing the process of them now beginning to date and really take the steps to get to know each other. I think they are doing the right things that will help them to parent their baby together as a team rather than as two different parents doing things alone. I'm also enjoying seeing the goings on in the office with the complete inappropriateness. Oh, I WAS surprised to hear nothing from Micheal on how Pam and Jim did him wrong by not telling him and how Pam is like a daughter to him and Jim is his best friend and he should have been the first to know just the fact that they had sex. Wondering if we'll get Micheal's reaction (and surely a demand to be named the baby's Godfather!)in another chapter. I also look forward to hearing if Isabel and the other people in Pam's life are supportive of Jim now not only taking responsibility for the baby but also being part, a big part, of Pam's life. I just wonder because in my life, those close to me were NOT supportive of his involvement. They felt he'd had a chance while they watched what I went through which wasn't easy so they felt basically that he had blown it and I shouldn't let him in. That's why I wonder if we'll see how that plays out in the story with the important people in Pam's life. Luckily, Pam has a guy who is totally worth being let in and is already showing why he should have been there all along!
Thank you for another amazing chapter. You REALLY brightened my day today. I saw you said we are i the last 1/4 of the story, do you have any thoughts and/or plans for future stories? I certainly hope so. A talent and gift like yours just begs to be shared with others! Thank you for sharing with us!
Author's Response: My apologies for taking so long to respond. I've been a little busy lately and I like to give your reviews more attention than "yeah, thanks". You've been such a lovely reviewer, and I appreciate it greatly! :) Yes, I think you've got it right, there is no internal governing for any of them. None of them women seem to have any edit function, do they? The scene with the guys was such fun to write, it was great making a collage of funny bits and pieces from the show and rolling it into one, so I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think you've hit it on the head with Karen--at this point int time, while I do think she's aware of what really happened, she really doesn't want to think about it because then the truth of how deluded she was would come forth. I think its easier for her to be mad at the circumstances, Jim, Pam, etc, than to face up to the truth. Once she gets out of Scranton, however, I do believe she'll finally come to terms with all of that. Aww, I'm so glad you're enjoying the dates that Jim and Pam go on. I wanted them to be sweet and sentimental, yet a little bit surreal, like they weren't quite sure it was actually happening. I know that eventually wears off after a while, but it's fun to finally get into the gooey part of their relationship. And you're right, the Jim we all know and love is finally here (or back)! Also so glad you're picking up on all these small references to the show, I love putting them in there for people to find and it always is thrilling when people enjoy it. I didn't think there was room for Michael and Dwight's reactions, so those are actually moved. I think you get a lot more of how they feel about the situation in chap. 22. Believe me, I do think at least Michael has something to say. I'm so glad I could brighten someone's day, it means a lot to me as an author to hear that and I hope I can continue to bring great stuff. That you so much for your kind words, I'm so happy to be sharing the story with all of you. :) I know know if I'll write more after this, it somewhat depends on how up to it I feel and if there's any inspiration to do so. Thanks again!!

Really excellent, the way you have weaved things from canon into your au really works. Looking forward to the next chapter. I also really like that they talked about how weird it is that is all *seemingly* so easy. it's easy to doubt when something seems too good to be true, but when it is that good, well...it's really awesome.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for your kind words!! Yeah, it can seem surreal when everything just falls into place. Lucky for them, it's lasting. :)

"strumming isn’t playing" Hahahaha!!
Unshun.
But yet again, since I got to read the new chapter so soon after it's been posted, I will have longer to wait than the poor schmoes who might not notice the update until tomorrow.
Shun.
Author's Response: I'm so sorry about making you wait for a new chapter. :P Hopefully what I have planned for the end will make up for it. Thanks for dropping a line! :)

Eeeeee loved this update, thank you.I really do love how you bring in small things from the actual show :)
Author's Response: Aww, thanks so much!! I love bringing stuff in from canon, so glad you're enjoying it. :)

If I may borrow from Cole Porter, this was delightful, delicious and de-lovely :) In fact, I'm still smiling. Such a warm and wonderful dynamic between these two, and I adored the office interactions--so funny. Thrilled that Pam's pregnancy isn't getting in the way of their killer chemistry. Squeeeeeeeee!
Author's Response: Aww, so glad to make you smile. It was a lot of fun to get to some of the fluffy stuff and I think some of my favorite moments were writing the office interactions, too funny. No, definitely don't think that the pregnancy getting in the way, if anything, it's bringing them closer together. Thanks so much for the review!

Okay, I've been (obsessively) lurking on this site for several months now but I finally had to create an account so I could leave reviews for my favorite stories. Especially this one! I love so many things about this story. The original plotline, the seamless integration of canon storylines and the way you've managed to keep these two characters so in-characters in a AU setting. Nicely done! I selfishly hope this story still has a long way to go because I will really miss reading it once it's finished. Can't wait to see what's next.
Author's Response: Wow, I'm incredibly flattered that you came out of lurking to leave a review. Thanks so much! :) I'm sorry about the wait and unfortunately, I only have a few chapters left. :/ But I'm so glad that you've found the story in character within the AU. I hope you enjoy what's next!!

You are 100% evil. How can you leave us like that? Seriously???????? You better not be... you know, living a life, and writing writing writing :)
Roy hitting Jim, Jim protecting Karen, Isobelle finding it hot that Jim got all Ninja with his pepper spray....Jim telling Pam he was taking her out to lunch.... the KISS. So much awesome....
Author's Response: Aww, I'm not sure if I'm all evil, but mostly evil. LOL! Glad you're enjoying it, thanks for the review! :)

FINALLY!
Author's Response: Agreed! LOL! So nice to take this in a new direction. :)

Awesome! I'm so glad they have wised up and realized that their behavior for the past months has been less than ideal.
Sorry, Karen.
Author's Response: YAY! Yup, time to move forward now. Sorry Karen is right. Thanks for the review!!
Date: March 08, 2011 07:11 pm Title: Chapter 19
YAYAYAYAY It's a double update day! Days when you and Italianfood both update your super awesome stories around the same time it is so unbelievably thrilling for me, like being at one of those claw machines and getting double prizes! Today was especially wonderful because of first the obvious, the content of the new capters in each story but then this has been a super rough day for me and you guys just made my day better than bearable, actually I have a smile on my face! Thanks for that! Thank you also for us being able to depend on awesome timely updates where you just keep the story moving along so nicely. Even if it's a chapter that makes me sad there is quickly a new chapter to replace it. Anyhow...
I kinda thought it may go down with Roy like this and that it may just be that this would be the way that Karen (and others) found out about Jim being the baby's father. I really liked the things that you had Roy say to Jim. It was probably harder for Jim dealing with what Roy had to say than even the physical violence of the ordeal. I was sad that Jim got hurt, but it was probably part of what all went into his big decision to really start being 100% the man he needs to be.
I liked your take on Roy and Pam's talk after the altercation with Jim. I really like just how protective Isabel is of Pam and that she is willing to literally put herself between Pam and Roy and try to move him o matter how big he may be. Her weird thing for Dwight, you REALLY have down her character in that regard from what we have see the several times we have seen her around Dwight on the show now. Her facination with him is just creepy, yet oh so hysterical. I like how she gets kinda turned on by hearing about Dwight swooping in with his pepper spray to save the day.
The Tuesday morning scene with Jim and Karen was really well done. It;s really interesting to me that Karen seemed to think that she was being the bigger person, going out and buying a gift for Jim's baby. Then she seemed to think that really the decision about the relationship would e in her hands and I kinda felt like she was immediately seeing herself as a stepmom to Jum and Pam's baby. It seemd like it never really occured to her that Jim may have hs own ideas and the fact is that back when they were having their big talks after Jim admitted to having feelings for Pam, that should have let Karen knowthat after everything happened, after Jim knew the truth about the baby, well, she may not be able to talk him out of Pam any longer. As much as I despised Karen, I did feel a little sorry for her because I got the sense that this was someone clinging desperately to a relationship that in some ways never really existed. I don't think Jim ever really seemed to show Karen the guy that he showed Pam at the hotel that night. I just got the sense that Karen felt that if she bought a baby gift showing she was on board, and told him she wasn't going to be bitchy about it, and probably a whole lot more talking and suddenly she and Jim would be just fine. I was so happy to see that Jim decided finally to take charge of his life and in a sense actually come back to life. Leave behing that guy that was a shell that just listened and did as he was told. The guy who really got in the reationship with Karen because she initiated each step. Se would tell him he had othing beter to do so why not be with her and he was coasting along wondering why am didn't call by then so he just let himself be pushed and molded. She initiated te dates. Se initiated the first kiss. She it seemed took control of their first sexual encounter when Andy got him drunk that night. Add to the pressure from Karen the stuff that Mark said to him and Jim just let imself be taken along for the ride whch is vry much the way I felt our season Jim was. Gone was the great fun loving, funny guy from season 2 and instead we had this guy desperately trying to contort himself to be who Karen wanted him to be all so he wouldn't have to face up to the fact that he was very much still in love with Pam. It was great to see his caring nature come out in that he knew that what he was going to tell Karen that morning was going to upset her so he not only called off for himself, he called her off as well. That's the Jim we all know and love. I got the sens that he did it that way because he could see that Karen was barreling ahead with plans for their future and I get the sense that Jim felt it was time to simply stop it all and stop jt now. He didn't want to wait any longer and he certainly didn't want to pretend any longer. I was proud of the way you had him grow there.
Then came the happy hapy day part for me. I truly love how you worked this part out. First just Jim smiling at Pam in the morning was enough to make her take notice and really, that's kinda sad. I like though that he isn't going to waste any more time. You get the sense that he really is back to being the great guy that we all know him to be. Jim asking Pam out to lunch was a great way to start things because I just don't think they would have been able to accomplish anything in the office. I really love the little touches that show he cares and that she means something, like him sliding in the booth beside her rather than across from her. I got the sense that he had been too far away from her for too long and now he wants to be close. He wants some contact and he wants to know everything he can find out about her and the baby. The way their finges and hands were touching under the table just gave off that sense of sweetness and connection that IS Jim and Pam. It was great that they each aired their mistakes and their appologies and it was so clear that they have a strong desire to do this right now and go forth together. Y certainly get the sense that not only are they both commited to being very involved in their child's life, but that they plan to get to the point where they are doing it together as a couple and not as seperate entities. OH, I REALLY liked when Jim told Pam that the guy she first met, the one from the hotel, THAT was the real him and that he just didn't know who that guy was that had been around since he came to Scranton. Then her sharing her pregnancy notebook, really giving him the chance to get a look into the pregnancy, see what she and the baby have been through and what has been going on, that was a really great touch.
Of course my very favorite part of this chapter, the one that had me jumping up and down (okay, in reality I can't really jump up and down because of my health BUT I WAS doing it in my mind... really, I was!) The hilight of it all was Jim saying, hey Pam there's one more thing we need to settle and finally kissing her again. Then you once again worked your magic, like with the art show and after they kissed and he said you have no idea how long I've wanted to do that and she responded me too, FINALLY those words were said in happiness and you took the sting and phantom bruises of them away. THANK YOU for that.
You really and truly have such a brilliant piece of wok here, I know it is going to go down amongst my all time favorite stories. I am glad that Jim knows and is now taking responsibility because I always feel this sense of loss when I read the stories where Pam can't ring herself to tell him before the baby is born (even when I understand her reasons) because I feel such a sense of loss for him when he misses out not only on getting to jbiw the baby some during the pregnancy but I really hate et when he isn't ale to be there to see his child born. I cannot wait to see where we go next but I know that wherever it is, you keep taking us on a great ride! Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us!
Author's Response: Hey! So glad we could make your day like that. :) I figured it'd might be predictable to have Roy beat on Jim, but the I'm glad that it seemed to fit in nicely and that every time I do go along with the season I hope that I'm able to give it enough of a twist that it doesn't feel like we've read it a hundred times before. Yeah, Isabelle is a hoot, huh. I thought her interest in Dwight, while being part of canon, would make the character a little quirky and less one note, so I'm glad that's been working for you. I'm so glad you enjoyed the Karen/Jim stuff. There's a lot of interesting things packed in that small section. Way back when I started, I was originally going to keep the two of them together longer and I used Karen giving in to the fact that Jim was going to be a father as a way for them to deal with their issues. As in all writing, I changed my plans around the time I was in the mid chapters, but I kept in Karen giving Jim the baby stuff--because I think it humanized her still and it just made it all the sadder that it was going to end. Plus, I never liked that Jim just dumped her in NYC and I'm glad that I was able to give them a day to really do the break up right. I assume that a lot of time Karen was either screaming or crying and Jim just took it because he knew he deserved it and he knew Karen deserved closure. So, yay, glad you got all of that from that tiny scene! The Jim/Pam scene was great to write. I loved slowly getting them into their talk and that the small changes in Jim's demeanor meant changes were coming. I kinda wanted to get everything on the table during that talk so that they could move forward without having resentment build up. Im' so glad you liked those final words! It was kinda fun to turn that scene into something different and move them forward in the right direction. Thanks so much for the kind words, you have no idea how much I appreciate them. I hope to get more to you soon. :)

Happy to see they finally are on the same page. I can't say how much I appreciate your ability to add pieces from each show but make it your own.
Author's Response: Yeah, it's really nice to get away from the angst. I'm so glad you like how canon is woven into this AU--it's what makes this story challenging and fun to write. Thanks so much for dropping a line!

*thud* Holy moly what a chapter!! YAY! The last few lines have me sitting here with a silly smile on my face. So so so many things I loved about this chapter. I loved how you cover a few days with such great detail, it's just perfect! I adore the little hand holding under the table and I love that they're finally happy and that Jim got a wake up call. I think you chose a good bunch of phrases for Roy to shout at him to get Jim to really get a handle on what he should be doing. And again, the end? Ah-may-zing! It's seriously the first time that phrase hasn't made my stomach turn. I love that Pam has a pregnancy notebook. I do have one question though, didn't Pam leave him a message? I guess she just decided not to bring it up and go with the flow, which is smart of her to do, just start fresh and move forward. Love it, and I'm sad that you say that this is almost done. I can't wait to see what you have in store next for this fabulous story.
Author's Response: Aww, thanks so much! I like the hand holding too, thought it was a sweet, basic movement in the right direction. Yeah, I loved using the Roy punching scene as a way for Jim to literally get knocked in the head. I'm so glad the end meant so much to you. (and to think...those were kinda an afterthought I stuck on there.) Yes, Pam did call him...I keep glossing over that. But I figure its such a small point that it can be left dropped, cause in the long run it doesn't matter. :)

**Jumping up and down** Yay!!! That was great! I'm very excited for fluff right now!
Author's Response: Lol, yay, I'm so glad you're excited. Thanks for dropping a line. :)

*fangirl flail*
I like how you changed the fight to allow Roy to connect and give Jim the smack upside the head he needed. Nice job ;o)
Author's Response: Yes, Roy smacking down Jim was always in the cards. I liked the idea of him getting literally whacked in the head to help wake him up a big. Thanks for the review!!

Now, that's what I call a wake-up call. I'm so glad they're really talking to each other now, and that ending was great. I don't think I've ever read (or heard) those two lines with a smile on my face, but I was grinning from ear to ear.
Author's Response: Yes indeed. Yeah, I figured it was about time they stopped screwing around. You know, it's interesting about those lines, I didn't give it much thought when I wrote them, but people have really taken a liking to that ending, so I'm glad it means so much to you. Thanks for the review. :)

*sigh* Finally! So glad they wised up; it's about time! Loved the hand holding, and the kiss! That was a pleasant surprise. Pretty wild that she's well along in their pregnancy, yet they're pretty much just starting out in their relationship. I look forward to the interaction between these two. And I'm hoping you have some office gossip/reaction, too :)
Author's Response: YAY! Yeah, I think the hand holding is the sweetest thing, kinda like in Fun Run where he just grabs her hand. The wind is blowing in a new direction now. Thanks for the review!!

Like so many, I have been enjoying this story and eagerly awaiting updates, and hats off to you for it. And yet, I guess I am finally only submitting a review to complain. (What a jerk!) While I don't object to the slow movement in terms of bringing Jim and Pam together, I have to admit I find Jim's passivity regarding his child to be OOC: This:
“Do you know her due date?”
“No.”
“How’s the baby’s health?”
“I don’t know.”
“Is she going to let you have joint custody?”
“I don’t know,”
There are plenty of men out there who could know they were having a child and not be bothered to find out the due date or check up that everything was okay, but I don't see Jim Halpert as one of them. Uncertainty about wanting a life with Pam is one thing, but I do think he would be more actively interested in his offspring even if he hadn't figured out he wanted to be with the mom.
Author's Response: Hey, brokenloon! I don't think you're a jerk, well, maybe for not reviewing earlier but definitely not for the complaint. ;) I always welcome any sort of criticism or critique. To be honest, I'm surprised I made it to chapter 18 without someone yelling foul. Yes, I do think the Jim we all know and love would be the first in line to know exactly what is going on with his child. So, in that sense, in relation to canon, I can understand your concern for OOC-ness. Since this is AU, I've decided to take a little liberty with his character. My interpretation is that this Jim has become so inward after everything that has happened to him, that his own selfishness has prevented him from seeing the big picture. That he has been so focused on himself that talking to his sister in law kinda wakes him up from that selfishness so he can concentrate on what really matters. To me, and my idea when writing it, is that it's a reflection of the selfishness I saw in season three Jim--where I do think he was so focused on himself, he missed the times that Pam reached out to him. Anyway, the scene you quote above, and I'm sure I probably could have written it a lot better, was not so much to show how little Jim knew but more so Jim's waking up that he's been so focused on himself, he's starting to realize that he doesn't know anything and probably should get to knowing that. On top of that, I wanted to explore Jim not being such a confident dad at first--on the show, by the time Pam gets pregnant, Pam is his anchor, he's got more direction in life, he's a bit more stable. The Jim in my story is lost, especially around the time he finds he's going to be a father and that his personal issues make the situation overwhelming--overshadowing his basic need to care for his child. The purpose of the scene with Marcie was to show Jim getting back on the right track again, back to who he really is (and possibly to the Jim we all know.) And, as early as the next chapter, you'll see Jim becoming the caring person you see on the show. ;) Anyway, that was all going through my head when I wrote it. I hope my rambling makes some sense. Could I have written all of that better? Sure, this is just a hobby project, which is unbeta'ed. If nothing else, I hope this helps clarify why I wrote it the way I did even if you disagree still on characterization. Please feel free to always drop a line, I appreciate feedback in all forms. :)
