Karen had no idea that she was getting tangled up in someone else's love story. She always deserved better (even as I was desperate to be rid of her at the time). Loved this.

This is such a great story! You've made Karen seem so real...with insecurities and frustration and anger. It must have really hurt to put her whole self into that relationship and continue to work at it even when she knew it was doomed. "Hindsight and a bottle of Shiraz are 20/20." is one of the best lines I have ever read! :)

I really enjoyed this, because not only is it well written, it's exactly how I imagined Karen would react in these situations. In some ways she brought this on herself, but she was without a doubt, collateral damage. Thanks for articulating her POV.

Not usually big on Karen stories but this hit all the right notes. I really always questioned her for not ending things during the return. I really believe that this is how it all happened, especially given the body language we saw in fun run, Karen definitely was not happy with him. I hope you'll keep on posting stories soon!

This is gorgeous. It is so perfectly true that o almost feel like I've read it before- because I kept thinking yes, yes, that's it exactly. I love that she recognized how significant the beach was. I love how strong and clear-eyed she is. Any more treasures you'd care to share?
Author's Response: Thank you! 'Like you've read it before' is such a great compliment! :) Yeah, I've got a whole folder of stuff to brush the dust off at some point. Maybe there will be something else soon.

Poor Karen is right -- when you're a human shield, there's bound to be collateral damage.
But seriously, who would stick around after the coffee shop (or the conference room in The Return) unless she really wanted to believe him? Like really, self-delusionally wanted to believe him?)
Author's Response: Definitely. I think that's why she was probably really angry at herself, arguably even more than she was mad at Jim, when she was forced to see just how much she'd fooled herself and let herself just succumb to wishful thinking. Thanks for reading :)

That was a heartbreak for Karen -- but she handled it well, in your story and in the show. I liked your story -- so well-written and it was nice to re-visit the angst of the S3 triangle.
Author's Response: Thank you. :) I think she handled it as well as could be expected. It's fun to revisit the angst sometimes, isn't it?

Calisto, I haven't read fic in a long time but stopped by here for old times sake and I'm glad I did -- what a great little insight into Karen and the day after. I, too, liked Karen well enough and felt bad for her at times. It's nice to see her NOT be the villian for a change. Excellent job!
Author's Response: Hey, wendolf! Haven't seen you around these parts in an age. Thanks for reading, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have a soft spot for both Karen and Roy. It's fun to revisit the angst at times, too. :)

callisto, SO GREAT per usual. I don't know how you always manage to get me hooked but I hang on every single line. I'm with you - I feel bad for Karen and I still like her regardless! thanks for this sweet and different oneshot. favvvorite!
Author's Response: Thanks kaat. Glad you liked it. I was wondering if anyone would even read a Karen story-- nice to know I'm not the only one who didn't hate her just for existing. Thanks for the review!! :)

While I wasn't a fan of Jim and Karen together, I did like her... or at least felt bad for her. I'm a sucker for Karen/Jim/Pam fics and this did not disappoint (but coming from you, I didn't expect it to!) It's great to have another one from you so quickly :) I could get used to this!
Author's Response: I'll try :) I seem to have the writing bug again, let's see how long it lasts. I like revisiting S3 and S2 angst... I'll have to see what else is in my folder of unfinished half-ideas... thanks for the review!

Masterful, as always, Callisto. This was like water in the desert ;) So glad you're feeling inspired to write lately. You're particularly good at writing this time frame. Keep it up, girl!
Author's Response: Thanks, Nan. I'll see what else is in the folder. :)

I didn't mind Karen at all,I just thought she wasn't right for Jim. This fic made me want to go hug her, aww!
Author's Response: Yeah, she wasn't so bad, was she? Thanks for reading, HH. :)
