Aww this is so sweet! I love the expansion on the Pam and Dwight scene. So sweet.
And the ending is amazing!
Good job!

"Must be the bottled water that’s getting to him." Oooooof.
You did a good job writing a Jim who is still *haunted* by Pam at every single moment. Feels right to me, and something you doesn't often get credit for in discussion of his decisions in Season 3.
I feel like I've read so much fix-it fic in which they end up together after Benihana Christmas that I haven't really defined for myself a particular image of how that exchange would END. The sort of casual, forced into moving on with no time for awkwardness and Jim tapping on her desk is a really nice touch... makes you feel nostalgic, but for the good old days of Season 2. Poor Pam.
I love taking Pam's line about being able to read the back of Jim's neck seriously. A nice touch. And you did well with how Jim and Pam would've felt about their conflicting emotions in this episode, and how the idea of Pam encouraging his relationship with Karen (something he presumably can't imagine doing with her and Roy) would have hit him.
I too adore Pam and Dwight's weird friendship, and I like to think of Dwight as recognizing the strength in Pam maybe even before she does. That feels like something Dwight would do. Especially when paired with Karen's awareness and willingness to call Jim out on his crap here - feels like a lot of folks drawing lines and making connections at times that desperately called for it instead of ignoring them for the sake of keeping the story going until the end of the season, GREG. I'm glad you gave Pam the equivalent of her Beach Games breakthrough here. And now Jim will go to her art show!
And, as promised. Five jellybeans.

Boy do you write an epic one shot. This was lovely. I adored the twist on that Dwight moment, adored it. I too, am a huge fan of the Dwight/Pam friendship that develops over the course of the show. It’s so nice to see Dwight as the catalyst for Pam to find some of that Fancy New Beesly spark and put her courage and honesty to use. The reconciliation between Pam and Jim was lovely too. I especially liked the contrast between Jim’s hesitance to have Karen more nearby, vs. the idea that he’d let Pam move in that morning if she wanted. A nice touch.
Author's Response:
Thank you sooo much! Dwight and Pam's friendship is probably my second favorite relationship on the show, so if I have the chance to let them bond then I'm gonna give them that chance lol.
Considering Jim bought Pam's engagement ring one week after dating, I highly doubt he would have any problems with her moving in immediately (; Just another way that Karen isn't Pam and Pam isn't Karen. Thank you again for the review!

Okay 10k word one shot queen! I see you! I love how you switched things up and made Dwight the person who showed Pam “hey, you can do this!” I’ve always always loved their friendship. I loved the different ending to these scenes we all know so well. If only we’d be able to skip that much angst in the show! (Jk I love some good angst, who am I trying to kid?) Great job, looking forward to seeing more from you!
Author's Response: I really debated myself hard over who would be the one to fight for who, and how they would manage to do it. I was originally going to have Jim tell Pam "I wanted you to fight for me and you didn't" during an angsty fight that ended up with them together, but then I thought because of Pam getting more and more courage at this point in the show, I'd have Pam be the one to tell Jim in that angsty fight. Then I got to the part where I had to write about Dwight and Pam's scene, and decided Pam would say it to Dwight and he would help her realize what to do. I couldn't resist a Dwight and Pam moment if someone paid me to. Thanks so much for your review!

This is such an amazing story! You did a great job mixing canon with your ideas. And here... I didn't think I could love Dwight and Pam's friendship more, but I was wrong. You wrote it perfectly and I wish we saw something like that in the show.
I always feel bad for Karen (right after I stopped hate her for not being Pam), and I feel bad for her here, but I'm glad she also found herself. I hope she'll be happy... eventually.
And, by the way, how could Phyllis know??? This lady starts to scary me...
Thank you again for the story!
Author's Response:
Thank you so much! I also love, love, love Dwight and Pam's friendship and wish we got more heartfelt moments between them in the show.
I also find myself just hating Karen because she's not Pam, then I have to remember that she's actually pretty nice and a pretty good character, she's just in the way lol. But that's partially why I had her break up with Jim instead of Jim breaking up with her. I feel like she deserves a little justice lol.
Phyllis is just the type of woman who looks sweet and innocent but is really just scary lol. The only thing I could think of is that maybe Pam told her since Phyllis has been kind of rooting for Jim and Pam since the beginning, and Pam needed someone to talk to for encouragement. Or maybe Phyllis is just a psycho who made the camera crew tell her what she wants to know lol. Thank you for the review!

I really enjoyed this. I like AU of S3, and this is a great moment for it. I especially like your Dwight. Very in character and yet very kind. I'm glad you're with us, and I look forward to your "Job" fic (and any others you give us).
Author's Response: Thank you! I considered switching to AU before the Pam/Dwight scene, so I wouldn't have written about that, but I couldn't resist. Like I said, that scene is probably in my top 10 moments of The Office. I just finished watching season 3 last night so hopefully I will have my next fic up soon!

Great introspection through all the canon-correct moments. I really liked how you got into their heads while everything we saw on screen was going on.
I was wondering when you were going to take this story AU. Dwight's friendship and his encouragement was a lovely way to do it. Clearly this Pam has done quite a bit of growing since Jim left and came back, but I think it's entirely realistic that she needs that little extra push.
Interesting take with Karen there. He's given her what she wanted, more clear signs that he's putting effort into their relationship and then she just breaks it off. I appreciate that you gave us the whole conversation. Those scenes can be tricky to write, but I think you did it well in order to achieve the effect you wanted.
Then of course when Pam comes over it's all just wonderful. Well done Pam for being the one to fight for Jim. The reward is waking up in his arms which is always a lovely image to envision. Great job.
Author's Response:
Thank you so much, this means so much! I love trying to figure out what the characters are thinking while watching the show, so I'm glad to finally be able to write down what I think is going on.
I was a little worried about writing additional dialogue for the Pam/Dwight scene, because Dwight is such an interesting character and it can be hard to keep him that way while also trying to expand on him, but I think I did okay, hopefully lol. I definitely think that Pam was a lot stronger by herself at this point, but you can see throughout the show, even after she's with Jim and is at her best, that sometimes she still needs that little bit of encouragement.
I also wasn't really sure how to get Jim and Karen to break up, because I knew I needed them to for the end of the story. I considered having Pam confess and then Jim would break up with Karen, but that just didn't seem right. So, I figured Karen deserved a little bit of justice and dignity and would break up with him once she finally accepts that he's just too far gone with Pam.
I love a good Jam fluff sesh, especially if it follows a confession lol. I'm glad you think I did well on it! When I first saw the prompt, my initial reaction was to have Jim fight for Pam, but we need some girl power.
Thank you so much for your detailed review, I really appreciate it!
